I don't think I can play LotSB at the moment...it's just...blech now.

I need a break from it...

I avoided watching that video until a few moments ago and I can honestly say that I see what you all are talking about. I didn't know there was such a difference. Knowing how many FemShep fans there are now, I don't understand why BW wouldn't put the same effort into supporting both Shepards.

As for emails, it's pretty easy to simply ignore them (I do it all the time at work.....). If you really want your voice to be heard, a certified, hand-written letter is the way to go. It would have a nice affect were there a way for all of us to sign the letter online as some sort of petition.

I also asked Michael Gamble about the potential bug so we will see if not then no harm in creating a tech support thread trying to get someone to pay attention to this problem. It really looks like a bug because there is nothing in the female variant just total dead silence, seems like a poor design choice if it is indeed intentional.

I believe Woo has said in the past that Bioware does not like petitions.  So, if myself or Adnenate doesn't get a reply, we should create the thread and politely ask Bioware what the deal is.

I hope at least one of you receives a reply in the near future. Until we hear otherwise I'm going to continue to believe it is just an oversite or bug. I don't want to believe that it was intentional.

Thanks to all of you that actually go out of your way to contact the Devs and all. I can talk about it all day but that doesn't necessesarily accomplish anything.

Haha. That's the quote of the day.

I needed that. Thanks.

Back to FemShep. With so much FemShep info in this thread it is no wonder we miss bits and pieces from time to time.

BW doesn’t like petitions? I don’t much like the idea of having a colonoscopy either, but sometimes they are necessary. Not saying we need to storm the castle right now, but y’know, worst case scenario ...

Storm the castle. With real horses. No coconut crap. Put a capable BW specimen balled and chained in a cage. Interrogate it. Spanish Inquisition. Nobody expects those. That's a refreshing idea. ;)

I'm just going to do what Brock and Terra did when the Witch Hunt DLC came out bugged, they got a patch without threatening boycotts and making pointless petitions. I've been modding for years and I can tell a bug when I see it and just the total dead silence in the female version can't be by design because it makes no sense. If you turn the music off there is NO sound at all during that portion of the scene . . . that can't be right.

I've emailed Christina Norman, Stanley Woo, and Michael Gamble on the matter.  Not sure if I will receive a reply.

Tomorrow Morning in the office

Woo:  Hey Gamble have you checked your inbox?  femsheps are at it again

Gamble: urghh not again with the ME3 cover art!  Seriously these people really need to quit moaning and accept our 100% accurate stats about 80% people wanting to be male.

Woo:  No not that

Gamble:  what that they are fed up with the six hairstyles they have again? Change the tune already

Woo: not that either

Gamble:  oh right the animations and that fact she walks like a dude

Woo:  Bingo!   We closed her legs and responded to their pleas after that Garrus romance thing with the dress.  Thought they would be happy we actually did something for them.

Gamble:  Yeah,  80% play male femsheps!! Deal with it!! Were going to spend most our time with vandershep end of.     So take it your not gonna reply then Woo?

Woo:  would you?

Ok maybe im too pesimistic or I hit on the nail.  Not trying to be an anti-fan,  I just dont see an excuse for shoddy animation even if only 20% play female     We know Maleshep is the market and I know were sort of the niche, but these things are just as important to us as it is for the majority.

They obviously thought we were important enough when they decided to make a female as the lead for their game.  If they didn't think that, then they would have gone the Alpha Protocal way and only have a male lead that could be customized.  So they kind of screwed themselves in making a Female lead and then their fans are now unhappy with the way she is presented in game.

If you are going to do it don't half-ass it, Bioware.:pinched:

Agreed on all points.  Though, I honestly wouldn't have picked up the first ME game if it only had a male playable protagonist.

Niche or not, Bioware chose to give us the choice of playing a female lead. Can I say I would not have purchased the game if we could only play as MaleShep? I don't know. I know that in ME I only played FemShep. In ME2 5 of my 6 playthroughs are FemShep. It was actually very hard to me to complete the game on my MaleShep. It's not anything against him, it's just that in my mind Comander Shepard is in fact female. So in esecense, I paid to play as a female lead. I think for the most part, Bioware has done an excelent job creating an awsome and believable female protaganist. That does not however mean that there is not room for improvement.

ME1 would have been a rent for me if we could only play as male.  Only because I had so much faith in Bioware after playing KOTOR.  But once I was done with my first playthrough, I'd be through.  Playing as FemShep and Hale's voice acting have kept me playing this game for years now.

Oddly enough, I didn't play KotOR until AFTER ME1. I knew there was a FemShep option so I purchased the game right when it came out on PC. Oddly enough, I was giddy as soon as I realized Hale was the VA. Although at the time, It wasn't that I made the connection to Hale but to Alexandra Roivas from Eternal Darkness, also voiced by Hale.

I've been playing both ME1 and 2 since and I know if it was not for FemShep I would not still be playing the game.

Yeah, lol!

IDK, the Mass Effect team seems quite distant from its fans (unlike the DA team).  I just don't see them patching a bug in LotSB b/c of fan demand like they did for Witch Hunt (which was awesome of the DA team).  People have noticed other bugs with dialog and pointed them out (Conrad Verner, for example) and nothing has been done to fix it.

I will be forever stuck with the inferior Liara romance :(

Did I hear 20%? 30%? You lady for 40%? Ah. 44%? *BENG*

Silly 20% doesn't exist and has never existed.

Nope, Captain Crash. We have a new number. 44% I think. Stats by XX55XX, analyzed Pacifien.

That's a good point - we're not trying to tick them off rather just make sure they understand how important this is to a rather significant percentage of their fan-base (43% I think).  To "politely" ask would be a better option than that petition idea.

Maybe it has been said before, but did Bioware ever elaborate on the whole 80% MaleShep thing? Meaning I play as FemShep almost exclusively. However, I did create one MaleShep that I did play to completion. So technically I would be part of that 80%. Did they ever actually release the female percentage? I don't remember seeing anything official. Although, I was pretty stoked to see the unofficial 44%

If nothing comes out of our complaining to Bioware, at least we have the superior voice actress who seems to enjoy voicing her lines with Liara.  But, we are not giving up now.  No no no!

No.  They never did go into detail about those numbers.  I actually emailed a dev about getting some clarification but they have remained silent on the matter.  I would be in that 80% range too as I painfully played ME1 with a dudeshep so I could romance Ashley and imported him into ME2.  He hasn't left Horizon yet.
