Looking forward to it.
Since I vastly increased the damage on assault rifles (sort of a realism project) I find myself longing
for stronger shields.

So here's the thing - this is turning into a complete top-to-bottom outfit modding tutorial primarily aimed at making 'casual' outfits combat armor, but also written from the very bottom up (I'm assembling a resource). As you clearly understand the basics of modding, if you tell me what DLC armor you have I can send you a list of usable game tags and a quick tutorial on how to apply them long before I have the full tutorial done.

That, of course, stands for anybody who is basically familiar with modding in new outfits but hasn't tried using the armor perk tags yet. Others must, I'm afraid, wait for the entirety of Kick Ass And Look Good Doing It.

More on topic!: I admit I also hadn't read that article before - it was certainly interesting. There are a couple of video game characters I'll admit I've kind of 'fallen for' in the past. However, none of my Shepards have ever been among them. I respect the hell out of these women, certainly, but they're just not quite right for me.

EDIT:
"What do you mean, "I don't have a current Shepard and need a screenshot for the top of a new page"? I think I deserve better."

Eh, for me that's just my response to any good RPG.  I always end up becoming my character, which is why I can never go the evil route through any game.  It's also why I remember the twist of KOTOR as one of the most stunning plot twists I've ever experienced; I found out everyone through the entire game had been lying to me, that my whole existence was a fabrication, that I had been the one that had lit the galaxy on fire and nearly driven the Jedi to extinction.  It was something that had never even entered my mind as I played, because there was no way I could ever do that.  It literally paralyzed me into rocking back and forth in my chair for a few minutes, unable to continue.  Good thing the game didn't progress in realtime through the conversation, because if it had been real life Malak could've beheaded me right there with no fight.  It's also the moment that Reven became irrevocably female in my head, LucasFilm 'canon' be damned.  The story's far more dramatic that way, anyway.

It's also why Planescape:Torment remains the crowning jewel of all CRPGs to me, no other game has ever made me feel that I was the main character more completely than that one.  As cliche as it is, putting you in the role of an amnesiac is a very powerful storytelling technique in RPGs, because you have no choice but to relate to the character as yourself from the beginning.

I don't identify quite that strongly with Jessica Shepard, due to her established history and predetermined voiceover, but her actions are still my actions.  When she sacrificed the engineering team and fought Balak, that was my decision, as was the, to my mind, completely just vengeance of shooting him and letting him bleed out.  When she berated Mordin at every opportunity for his work on the new and improved genophage, that was because she gave voice to my feelings, and yet she then stood in front of the computer and agonized over whether or not to save the cure because I myself was wrestling with the implications (I still don't know what the right decision is for that scenario -- best loyalty mission in the game).  That pervasive feeling of isolation and loneliness that I felt throughout all of Mass Effect 2, that constant sense of loss every time I stepped onto the copy of the Normandy, was because that was how Shepard felt about the situation, and that was why she ducked her head and charged off after the Collectors like a pitbull to keep from thinking about it all.

It's one reason I love fiction, I can't help but get inside the skin of the characters.  They're not dolls or constructs to me, they're people I empathize with.

This pretty much sums up what I feel when I play RPG:s. Oddly enough I can become the character better if I play female chars. For some reason I can't get inside male characters heads as well as females. I guess the woman that's inside every man works in me at full power when I play games.:D Go figure. :P

Well, looks like there are quite a few who haven't seen that yet. I'm glad you appreciated and like it and you are very welcome. Those who know me, know that even though I prefer MaleShep, I support FemShep and the FemShep-Players, so I thought I'd post this and it looks like I did the right thing =]

Haven't posted much in here so far, though, so while I'm here, I might aswell post a picture of my FemShep ;-)
It's not the best quality, but I think she looks good, nonetheless ^_^

The spectre gear can be remade using the N7 armor parts(A. Defense Layer, Off-Hand Ammo Pack, Shield Harness, Ordnance Pack)

I've never been a fan of it. I play Adept all the time, so light armour has really grown on me.

I miss heavy armor booty though.:innocent:

I see alot of people's femsheps sporting the Asymetrical defense layer for the shoulders of their armor. My Vangaurd version of Kallen rocks it. Also I finally found out what happens when you charge when vasir charges....they negate each other! it's so awesome! / end random post.

Same here.  I think I slip into my Shep's skin rather than creating her as a possession.

That's a bit of a double-whammy for me. Creating for 'possession' definitely sounds wrong (on so many levels; yuck). Yet I admit that I loved creating my Kira. Well, if you think about it, the whole character creation process is a bit like playing God, really. "And on the sixth day he created Femshep, and saw she looked good." :) I mean, given we were ever in a real position to create custom bodies for ourselves (think "Surrogates"), I would also give it my best, and take pride in my accomplishments if I succeeded. I see nothing wrong with that, really. We humans always create; we paint, we write poetry, and we make sculptures. We're simply not able yet to model bodies for ourselves. But if we could, I'm sure people would take to it like they do to Photoshopping now. :)

I also love to accessorize and color-coordinate my Femshep's gear. It's important, LOL. Seriously, it's all about perfecting your creation.

Now, I definitely am Kira. Yet (being a guy and all) and I'm also attracted to her. Or rather, I should say, I'm simply pleased with the way 'I' look. At first glance it seems rather strange that I could identify with my Kira (as she's a woman). Yet I do. Strongly. Kira is like an idealized version of myself (in psychological terms,we call this narcissistic identification). I am a a better person as Kira than I am in real life. I try harder, am kinder, and shy away from renegade interrupts. Walking around in such a fair body, being able to use Jennifer Hale's gorgeous voice, having the whole galaxy look up to you for guidance and leadership, it kinda brings out the best in a person. :)

The moment that impacted me the deepest, was on Tali's loyalty mission, when Tali breaks down and starts to cry, finding her father dead, and I could comfort her. That was such a tremendous opportunity to give. Still gives me the chills. And that was totally me! I know, it's just a computer screen, but I simply can't bring myself to go renegade (at least not when it counts). I would be devastated if I had taken a renegade action there with Tali (don't even know whether there is one; didn't look). I'm generally rude to the Illusive Man, though. Don't care much for him and his hidden agenda: I said I 'try harder' with Kira, but I always remain true to my own self. Really, Kira and I are one and the same. Though she's the pretty one. :P

Very well said, Iwakura-Lain! I have a mad crush on my character but at the same time I usually choose the decisions that I would if I were her and I have fallen madly in love with Liara as she has. I feel like the luckiest girl in the world to be able to romance Liara. lol!

It is possible to mod these armors into ME2 on PC

Image IPB

But it's a huge PITA.  Like most ME2 modding actually.  I guess it depends on how high your tolerance for frustrating workarounds is.
