One FemShep, yes. And I want to make another FemShep that also reflects this. Also, a ManShep I love holds the same traits.
And if it's even more of a mixed universe than now, I'm sure somebody or another would carry recessive traits.
Besides knowing that brown hair and darker eyes are dominant, and that blond/blue eyes are recessive, I'm not an expert in dominant/recessive features.
And I don't see how this would cause controversy. Nothing wrong with diversity.[/quote]

Can't say I took it into consideration. Way I figure this, if they possess the knowhow to raise you from the dead, surely they can turn you into a blonde, if you so desire.

They do. Kahlee Sanders has blond hair. Hendel Mitra, an Indian/White Caucasian mix has, I believe, blue eyes. When these recessive traits pop up (naturally) in individuals, others remark that it makes them exotic-looking.
I thought of Kahlee from the books too. Her hair color is remarked upon in Revelation as a distinguising feature because natural blonds are nearly extinct, however she still didn't really stand out in a crowd because "there were still plenty of humans who dyed their hair blond..."

Yup, that's why I specified "from a roleplaying perspective". This is from your eyes looking through your character's eyes, and through your character's eyes looking out, instead of from others looking at your character. Also, unless one goes in for genetic therapy, one cannot defeat the roots of one's hair eventually showing through a dye-job

I usually don't care for (overly used) sexually oriented Femshep comics; but this one really is one of my absolute favorites:
social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/128/index/1368994/33#4850423
Very well drawn (the expressions are priceless); and funny to boot.
EDIT: Look at Jacob's disappointed face when Miranda says he's not included. Hi-larious!

I think that is a good start. I always love getting in to Shepard's head and that's exactly what you did here. It sounds like Jennifer has a lot of personal demons to deal with. Colonist/Ruthless combo seems to offer a lot to write about. I also had to chuckle there at the end when Shepard was questioning why she wrote in the third person.
I'm still trying to figure out all of my Shepard's background. She is a Spacer/War Hero and while I have a general idea, I've yet to flesh out the story.
Yep, I wanted her to kind of reluctantly ruthless. If something like that is even possible. After Torfan where she did horrible things because of what had happend to her, she kind of got stuck at that role and she wants out of it. Kind of interesting to play her atm. I just did Bring down the sky mission and her choices there were surprising.
My Spacer/War Heros background was maybe hardest to do. No great conflict or loss that's right there for everyone to see.

Here's a simple "Yes/No" question that I don't intend to cause a controversy in asking:
When
you design a custom FemShep, do you at all take in to account the fact
that, in the ME setting, humanity is near a racial singularity? That
is, most everyone is of mixed races, and recessive traits, like blond
hair and blue eyes, are extremely rare.
Not really. It's more important that she looks like what I imagine her being when I take her backgroung story in to account. And ofc I really like blue color so mostly my Sheps has blue eyes. (And weakness for all things blue
As for the facial scarring I like the one that default FemShep has.

I use Earthborn/Ruthless and my Colonist/War Hero.
I see the poor orphan Earthborn getting assigned to Torfan (I'm sure the Alliance knew this would be a bloody campaign) for some reason.

Well I'm sure I've said it before but for me it's Colonist / Ruthless, it gives context for what happened on Torfan and let's you play with a character's motivation and mental state. Also it very much makes Shepard an Anti-Hero which I like because traditional Heros are kinda boring to me and Renegade is really fun.

For Kira it's Colonist/Sole Survivor. I guess the background of trauma provides a 'replacement', as it were, for Femshep rarely (visibly) dealing with emotions in the game. Makes it more human to me.

When I first created Alex, she was to be a Colonist/Sole Survivor. However about 1/2 way through the game I bought a new OS and like a idiot forgot to back up my saved games. So The 2nd time I created Alex I decided to go for a pure Paragon run. It went against my RP instincts, but in the end I found that it really does suit her character.
I've had a lot of fun reading fics surrounding the Earthborn/Ruthless combo. I think I also read a few good Colonist/Ruthless combos as well. There is so much story and depth behind each combination.

Thank you. At least I know I'm not the only one that was bothered by this. Okay, the flirting I can deal with because well, thats just Kelly and I can easily shrug her off. Though the one playthrough I left Kaidan alive Kelly wanted to know if I still had feelings for him. Um, I never had feelings for him and when I say so I come off looking like a heartless b*tch... Why is it Kelly has no clue when it comes to Alex and Liara, yet Kasumi knew all about it?
Why do Sheps who didn't romance Kaidan even get that question? It always irked me to no end. And on top of that, it's Kelly who's asking that question.
Well, at least Kasumi knows about Liara and Shepard. Not so much about Ash/Kaidan and Shepard.
For someone with a degree in psychology who was hand-picked by TIM* to be the ship's counsellor, Kelly is somewhat oblivious. Regarding her assumption that Shep had an affair with the VS if the VS was of the opposite sex, I've always assumed that it just was Kelly projecting her own... revolving door policy onto Shep.

My "canon" Shep is colonist/Survivor and my renegade is earthborn/ruthless. As for my favorite I can't really pick one. Atm I'm enjoying colonist/ruthless immensly, but that's propably because I'm playing as one atm.

My favorites are my personal canon (obviously), Earthborn/War Hero, aka "Oliver Twist with Guns", and Colonist/Ruthless, which just seems like the obvious choice. I've never really cared for the Spacer or Sole Survivor backgrounds, myself. They just seem fairly boring to me, I guess because in neither one did Shepard really do anything; Spacer is a pretty tame background with no major shaping events, and Sole Survivor just sort of happened to her, she mostly got lucky enough to get through it.

Does this happen with anyone else and their Shepards?
May I first submit to you that there is absolutely nothing wrong with you!?And that you're reacting in exactly the way you're supposed to.

Just to clarify, that "What the heck is wrong with you" is me, mentally asking the question of my Shepard. I don't think anything is wrong with me, I think something is wrong with her, she's not playing by my rules.

Interesting question, jlb!
My canon, Noah Shepard, is an Earthborn/Sole Survivor. I mostly play her as a Paragade. But I also like to play my other Shepard, Devon, who is a Colonist/Ruthless and leans a bit more heavily to the Renegade side.

My Renegade is also a Colonist, and what happened on Mindoir has left her with a bit of a vigilante mind-set, and she is single-minded in her desire to stop and punish the wicked. She also is a War Hero and enjoys her public image of being some type of hero put up on a pedestal, even though some of her beliefs are questionable (for example, allow innocents die to kill one criminal). She really wanted to go to Torfan, but the Alliance deemed her too valuable (after what happened on Elysium) and would have none of it.

For some reason, I love the War Hero background with a more Renegade character. This gives them a heroic public image that provides an interesting contradiction of their own behaviors or ideals.

I've never really made the War Hero Renegade connection. You put an interesting twist on it. Though I suppose any combination could technically work for any morality style.
