I know ALOT of people hate TIM, but when he said that I felt kinda bad for him. He sounded guienely touched that shepard had asked him but had to turn her down due to whatever he had to do

Heh. Give the man credit, he knows how to weasel out! Of course, Marin Sheen could make anything sound good. I think I even saved the collector base because I assumed that it would lead to "cool with Cerberus" ending where he congratulated you and its clear you've sort of made a deal with the devil and thrown in with him.. and I SOOO wanted to hear that voice welcome me to the fold. Unfortunately, it made it just led to me telling him off in a less idealistic, more 'don't f.ck with me' sort of way. Aside from my newfound Martin Sheen fetish, I really do think it would be more interesting if you get to decide whether you've come to agree with cerberus, and want to stay loyal to them going into the third game or not, but it seems like we're going to start the final chapter basically on our own no matter what we do.
Wow... that just went way off topic didn't it?
Anyhoo, I agree - great one liner.

my original shep Charlie is earthborn/war hero/vanguard who fell for Liara, best buddies are Tali, and Garrus, and finds Ash's family truly fascinating
Hobbies include classical literature, playing/studying chess, shogi, and majhongi, fondness for earl grey tea, and debating/reading history

Of course mine is Freya Shepard - Earthborn, Sole Survivor (never occurred to me that this is the default for quite a while)
She was found at a young age abandoned on the street, and was raised by a pair of sisters who ran a makeshift hostel. She spent a few years there, and it was there that she developed her preference for the fairer sex. After a while, she was tempted away from their care and joined a street gang. It was there that she met her first girlfriend.
However, a couple of years later, her gang was caught in between two other warring gangs and most of the members were killed, including Freya's girlfriend. The survivors were taken in by the victorious gang - the Tenth Street Reds. Freya was appalled by the way they operated, but knew she wouldn't be safe if she left. However, as soon as she turned 18 she joined the Alliance, less out of a genuine desire to serve, but more to simply get away from a past now filled only with ghosts.
During Alliance training, she became involved with another woman - who happened to be the daughter of one of the instructors. Despite never having the fact confirmed, he suspected, and was always hard on Freya - even lobbying for her first mission to be supply escort duty, while all her classmates - girlfriend included - were sent to Elysium. Again, Freya made a lucky escape - most of her academy friends were killed during the Blitz.
Because of this, Freya is secretly paranoid that anyone she becomes involved with will end up dying, especially now that she has become the focus of so much attention. This is made even worse by Liara's apparent change - what she sees as the "first stage", where her partner is separated from her before dying.
......
She also loves cheeseburgers.

She loves good food and is even quite the cook, and is easily annoyed when people are surprised a military woman can cook.
She enjoys swimming and running, but has never liked team sports.
Her grandmother is Swedish, and since she spent her summer holidays with her as a child she speaks Swedish fluently.
During her hunt for Saren she fell head over heels in love with Kaidan.

She deserves more acknowledgment, and so does Jennifer Hale for her outstanding performance.
This is what we hope to accomplish with this thread before ME3 is out and over with.
Trying to decide what exactly Bioware should do, is the difficult part though. But it's open for discussion. : )
All they really need to do is have a default female shep modelled after hale, and maybe a unique walk cycle but that really didnt bother me, she was a soldier not a runway model.
I would like to have an action figure like that. I agree about the walk. I can live it it. I would like to see her somewhere on the box. it was nice having her in the guide book, but somewhere on the cover of ME3.

She had her first kiss at 15. After "they" came she devoted her life to be the person her parents had raised her to be. Courageous, kind, and determined to make the universe just a little nicer. She met Kaidan and knew he was special, but if she hadn't become a spectre they would have just remained friends until he was promoted.
This is the only one that I went this deep with, mostly because she is named after my grandmother.

I was wondering... How important is it for you all that the game can be played as a female character? Would you skip ME3 if FemShep was not in it (let's hope not)?
I dont know, honestly. I'd definatly buy the game - I just love the franchise But I suspect it would take me a _very_ long time to force myself to actually get through it all on a manshep, and Id probably never play it again. IF I weren;t already addicted to the setting, then I doubt I'd bother at all.

Good question.
I don't really know if I'd skip it. A part of me would rage like crazy if I couldn't play MY Shepards (which are all female) in ME3, but a huge part of me wants to see how the story is going to end. Overall, it's pretty important to me to be able to play as a female character, I have a hard time getting into the brain of a man (who doesn't?! badaching). I love that we can play a good looking, tough, caring, no-nonsense, get-the-job-done, confident and capable woman that, imo, could easily be the face of the ME franchise.

My cannon Sheperd is a colonial war hero. She was an adventurous and curious young woman, who joined the alliance to get away from the happy, but boring life she had on Mindoir, her powerful biotic potential securing her a place despite a marked lack of patriotism and prior physical conditioning. She still feels bad for having been away from home on basic training when her parents were killed by Batarians. Its a big part of what encouraged her to apply herself more seriously to her career, rather than just using it as an excuse to see the galaxy. She fights not so much for any particular cause, or country, but to protect others they way she 'failed' to protect her family. She tends to treat her comrades-in-arms as a sort of surrogate family, and takes it almost as a personal insult whenever anyone dies (hence her War Hero background - she has a history of doing things most people would consider suicidaly foolish, like fighting off platoons of slavers single-handedly, to avoid letting anyone die). She survives by being Just That Good, and works hard to keep it that way. This is also why she saved the council, more than anything else, and why she feels guilty about the humans who lost their lives as a result.
She had a bit of a reputation as a party girl when she was in the alliance (she likes to think of herself as a femme fatale - some people used less flattering terms, though usually not where she could hear). She shared her first experience with another woman with Shaira, the consort (didn't really expect her to sleep with me if I were something less than thrilled by her 'gift of words', but I decided to run with it), and it was quite the revelation for her - she was surprised at how much joyed it, and wondered if it would be the same with a human woman. She's not likely to find out, though, no matter how much she flirts with Kelly - Lliara surprised her by capturing her heart, and she would never betray her, no matter how long she has to wait.
Once, she thought she felt something for Kaidan, too, but fraternization rules (her least favorite part of being an officer) kept her from ever doing anything about it in the years they served together. Even though she's considers herself blessed to have found Lliara, she hates herself for having had to leave him behind on Virmire.
Ever since that 'failure', her heart has been hardened a bit; she has a lot less mercy than she once did for those who threaten innocents. She still hasn't completely lost the carefree attitude she started with, though, and she's determined not to stop enjoying life despite her burdens. She loves the thrill of space exploration - seeing new places and meeting new cultures - if events ever allow her (or when age, someday, forces her) to retire from the professional action heroine business, she hopes to travel the galaxy more extensively, preferably without having to kill people in more or less every port she visits, and, she hopes, with Lliara at her side.
EDIT: That sort of ballooned longer than I planned. Can you telll Ive put way too much thought into this? LOL
EDIT2: Thinking about this made me remember another favorite line of femshep dialog - I forget the exact words, but when you're discussing whether to awaken Grunt, Miranda reiterates the dangers involved, and one response is along the lines of "doesn't that sound like _fun_?!" The voice acting carries it of to total perfection, and it was exactly the sort of thing my Shepard would have done. Loved it.

I would buy it. I do have a male Shepard. But even if I didn't, I would probably buy it just to see how the story ends. I'd still be mad if they got rid of FemShep.

I voted on the poll and ME3 would be a no buy/no rent for me if they disragarded FemShep. Although she wasn't promoted anywhere or is like a hush-secret, I still know of her existence. She is Commander Shepard and without her there is no Mass Effect.

I would most definitely skip ME3. My Shepard is female, and I'm not about to roll a male Shep just for ME3.
