Hmmm, I don't recall seeing those armors in the lists of console armors.  What's the code for the one Shep is wearing?  Partisan, you say?  I thought Partisan was all blue with orange accents.  And I don't recognize Liara's from anywhere except the opening cinematic for ME2.  What are their console codes?

sheps is 'Manf_Batarian_Armor_Skirmish' and Liara's is 'Manf_Cerberus_Armor_Hoplite'

Ah... thank you!  The wiki did not list the Hoplite with its own pictures, I always thought it was that messy ugly yellow-green camo (which is apparently called "Freedom").  From now on that will definitely be Liara's armor on any and all of my playthroughs.  Jessica will stick with the Hazard though; I just love the coloration on that one, muted though it is.  Kinda fits her personality I think.  Rough and utilitarian, nothing flashy about it.

Although early in the game, you can't beat the Scorpion armor you get out of that first crate:

yeah i like the hazard but thought the darker skirmish went better with a sneaky infiltrator and its one of the few armors you can kinda recreate in ME2

I love the Spectre gear but its outclassed by the Hazard and skirmish gear

I just looked through the screenshots you uploaded, sagequeen, and I think this one is my absolute favourite (I hope you don't mind me posting it).

I also meant to ask you: would you be alright with it if I tried to make a few sketches of Kyrie? She's one of my favourite FemSheps.

Hey everyone, what with all these screencaps flying around, I was wondering. Has anyone got a favourite 'Oh my days, my Shepard is a bada**' shot? One that really just left you gobsmacked at the pure awesome (well more so than usual!).

I found mine, so I added a pic of the Normandy's escape run to double the awesome...and its staying as my Desktop for a long time I think.

Know the feeling Chugster, its great unless you have it on the 'repeat every second' option like me, becuase you then forget about it and end up trawling through loads of pics of loading screens and the galaxy map... O.O

But still tis worth it for the gems you get!

Wow, Jessica looks even more amazing in ME2! Speaking of hair growing, I was reminded of one of my friend's really awesome trailers. FemShep also wakes up with a shaved head and over the course of the video, her hair grows back. It's one of the better trailers out there too, imo. Repercussions 2 by gdoism

There's a realm of creativity so far beyond my comprehension, I cannot even fathom it. That's where this vid came from! Goosebumps all the way!

Same here. Watching that vid (and others) I can't help thinking, "How do people come up with this ideas?". Awsome.

Iwakura-Lain wrote...

Espcially when wearing Kasumi's formal wear. :( I'm not sure what Bioware was thinking when they created the Femshep running animation. The term "Derp" leaps to mind.

Nodoby looked at her shoes ? How can she run like that wearing those ? Is that even posible ?

sagequeen wrote...

btw, OP looks awesome! i also saw the list of sheps - so honored kyrie made the list.

Why wouldn't she ? She's gorgeous !

And now that I look at it again, I think her profile is the only one with a picture of Jenkins, forgotten soldier.
I remember the first time I played ME1, talking to him and Chakwas, I thought "he dies, he so dies". And he did. I don't understand why BW needed to make him look like an idiot in the only conversation you have with him.

sagequeen wrote...

it's funny, i tend to register her as an adept, but i should specify she's a bastion. - does anyone else agonize over specialization? i ended up a bastion because i felt it suited her personality more (Barriers are this massively defining part of her, esp. in ME1) and then in ME2, i really felt like i needed to stay with that just because of the RP factor - barriers and bastion.

Abby is a Vanguard. I evolve her class to "Champion" from a gameplay point of view. A bit more health and better cooldowns.
My new shep, Hayley, will be Engineer - Demolisher, again for the same reason (15% power damage).
I don't know, ME2 is more focused on combat than role-playing IMO, so choosing one specialization over the other does make a difference when you have to kill unfriendlies, specially when playing on higher difficulties.

adneate wrote...

Well I've taken one character and respeced her several times now, Danielle so far has been a Vanguard a Infiltrator and a Soldier, with a Sentinel and Adept ready to roll. I do try to make the armour sets look somewhat unique for each class, different parts and patterns that kind of stuff. I suppose if anything defines these various Danielles it's aggression, I play every class with maximum aggression so specilizations reflect that. Champion, Commando, Assassin, Raider and Nemesis are the specs that fit me as a player, and they fit the character as well. Still she's a Vanguard at heart, you can make her a Soldier or a Sentinel but she'll still charge right in guns blazing.

The very first time I imported Abby into ME2, I took the Infiltrator class. I even finished that playthrough, but something didn't 'feel' right and re-imported her again, this time Vanguard. Never changed her. Abby is a Vanguard.
To play the other classes, I just download some saves from the web.

and yes, fraps can be problematic. i LOVE the way my shep looks when talking to hackett (the lighting of the old normandy so suits the fair and blue-eyed kyrie) so i end up with all these screenshots that are EXACTLY the same

I think this thread has the best screenshots around.

@jwalker

I prefer the Demolisher for Engineer as well. For both RP reasons and non-RP reasons.

Oh, and here's my latest Shep's fave ME1 team.

She was an Adept, and I love having uber amounts of biotics in ME1 for some reason.

@Sage: Oh the pain of choosing THE BEST screenies out of so many to keep. My Fraps file on my old PC was so large it wouldn't even load...over 10,000 files or something ridiculous like that because I never sorted through them. Being a bit more ruthless on the new 'puter, it can hurt.

Especially when my girl crush on my Shepard only ever gets bigger :( She Purdy.

Because you could have both Shepard and Liara spam Singularity and break the entire game, hell even on my Vanguard I took Singularity just for that reason. In fact if you give an Adept Shepard decryption then you don't even need any Tech since between you and Liara you can open or unlock every single thing in the game.

On the subject of screenshots, you get lucky with them sometimes and they turn out really fantastic. Mostly though they just suck and end up in the recycle bin, for every 1 I keep probably 10 get deleted. The strategy is simple for me, hit the G1 key as many times as possible during the scene and sort it out later.

Yeah, my Adept took Decryption, adneate. Though, I did use Kaidan a lot so it really didn't matter!  Though, this did allow me to focus solely on leveling Kaidan's biotics first before the tech skills.

But, there were other times I took Wrex instead, and still had all the tech stuff covered. With Liara's Electronics, I could fix the Mako too.

Ok so I just re-read our favourite Mass Effect piece of Journalism

http://www.gamasutra...Mass_Effect.php

Yeah the one which got recognised and we had this:
Posted Image
(updated with more likes and comments!!)

Anyway I noticed further down the thread in the comments one of Biowares ex employees also contributed and has some quite nice input:

 Jan Goh wrote:

I worked for BioWare for years (until I transferred out to EA Montréal). I can tell you that there were several of us that brought up the concern about there only being a male Shepard. As I recall, they wanted to present a single image of who Shepard was because from a marketing perspective, it makes a lot of sense. Nintendo has Mario. You've got the Master Chief for Halo. These characters are instantly recognizable and serve as a useful, immediate reminder of the company that made them. They end up being franchises unto themselves. I don't know why they didn't pick FemShep as the flagship character, but that's a call only Casey or Ray can make, and only they can explain their final decision.

Sexism is still mildly pervasive in the industry. I think it's clear BioWare deserves credit for trying to write complete female characters – characters that aren't solely the sexpot, or the person to be rescued, or the token female hero to cynically appeal to a demographic – but I remember writing an email complaining about the use of 'mankind' instead of 'humanity' in the game. These are small things, but I felt like they added up. I'm pretty sure they took that seriously at the time (I don't remember what particular use I was referring to, honestly).

Clearly you (as players and fans) care about these issues; you need to make sure that you bring them up on the BioWare forums or in emails. The folks there are great, and they really DO listen to your feedback.

I think it reinforces the fact that we are having an impact. Bioware understood the mess with dress and have stepped ahead in the animation department so she had closed legs in lotsb. So things certainly look optimistic with a well developed thread and us addressing our concerns.   Ryns recent thread about Liara shows that with voice we can get a decent response :)

Anyway Jan goes onto say

Jan Goh wrote:

Actually, I was trying to temper my comments so that people understood that I think really highly of BioWare even after moving on. I didn't necessarily agree with some of the decisions and there were/are those of us that think that BioWare can do an even better job. I just didn't want to sound like I complained but I got nowhere and that it's useless for anyone else to try. If you speak up, they'll definitely consider what you're saying.
That said, making games is never a democracy; there's a vision that they'll try to deliver on, and they'll make the decisions that they feel they need to. :)

Which just reinforces the above.  But then again concerns me in the sense still that the major things we want still wont happen due to whatever reasons.  Ok I accept we wont get femshep marketing or anything in that sense.  I just really think she deserves those animations to be developed.   But if we keep speaking up for her we will get somewhere right!?...

That's an great pic!

For cutscenes, I don't bother with screenshots. I make an avi with fraps and then take screenies using vdub. Probably overkill, but is the best way.

If I want some shots when fighting, I set fraps to take a shot every 5 or 10 seconds. Sometimes you get really good stuff that way.

Well it's either that or weapon training and since shot placement is irrelevent in ME1 a pistol is functionally the same as an Assault Rifle or Shotgun. The only difference between them are the stats.

jlb524 wrote...

Tech was a little on a sucky side of things in ME1 there wasn't really anything it could do that Biotics couldn't also do, with the exception of opening things. You could overheat weapons and short out shields, but you could just catch everyone in a Singularity and watch them get beat to death by a shipping container as they flew around. The only instance where Tech was actually more useful than Biotics was against those stupid flying assult drones on the moon. Plus the AI in ME1 had no strategy beyond "EVERYONE RUN AT SHEPARD WHILE SHOOTIN!!!!!111" so the crowd control aspects of Biotics was vital to not just get rushed and overwhelmed as soon as you open the doors.

Also Liara is a grease monkey? This whole time I thought Garrus was the one who worked on the Mako! :D

Thanks for finding this, Crash.  A comment from a former Bioware employee....Skillful. :police:  As to what she said, well yes we need to speak up and continue to speak up like we have been.  We really aren't asking for a whole lot and I feel the most important things are that she just gets worked on as hard as her male counterpart.

My G1 macro key is right next to the Esc key so instead of hovering over the WASD keys I just park it there with the other hand on the mouse to navigate the dialogue and hit the interrupts. Besides I lost one of the Graphics Cards in my PC recently, trying to take video and run the game with full AA would likely be too much to hold a steady frame rate. Though once I get the replacement card from EVGA I'll look into doing Video too, bought FRAPs might as well use all the toys.
