When I first ran back into Shiala after helping out with the Baria Frontiers thing I really wasn't expecting her final line. (Especially as I had quite grasped the delicate art of face sliders and my Shepard looked lke something out of Spitting Image).

Anyway; a general FemShep shot, all artsy and whatnot.

A bit OT. I apologize for it. But still relevant to femshep, IMO (resources, 'fairness', majority...)

This is from  DA2 forums: David Gaider about m/m romance for Hawke

I only shot the cow because i was frapsing a video of him stealing the credits and it made for a hilarious ending to that.

Kyrie would not shoot a cow (she wouldn't waste the ammo and it would be a stupid waste of meat) so i re-loaded, got a screenshot, and went on to save toombs.

i mean, really, is this the face of a renegade?

paragrade, maybe.

Shiala -

Shep did save her life, so maybe that's how she expresses her gratitude. Then again, maybe she's the Morrigan of ME and wants a demon hybrid Shep/Thorian baby! After LotSB, my girl's taken anyway.

Zaeed: I nearly sh*t my drawers back there, Shepard. I sh*t you not. I nearly sh*t my f*cking drawers.
Shepard: It wasn't that bad.
Miranda: Are we still moving?

femshep gets several beautiful asari, 1 marine man (kaidan), 1 idiot man (conrad - sorta), 1 lecherous nasty man (harkin), 1 lecherous nasty alien (batarian merc recruiter), a few alien men (garrus, thane), and the odd human woman (kelly) hitting on her.
.

Holy crap. I had to look that up. I speak spanish.... For a second I thought, "sage gets banned" :crying:

hah. now i am totally wondering what you *thought* i said.

again, i'm not really advocating any change, exactly. it's more like...this is weird to me.

i guess what i find weird is that in ME1, asari throw themselves at shep, which comes off as cultural mostly. exception is the interest where liara is concerned (since she's pretty clearly interested in shep beyond merely the physical). harkin is icky to femshep, gianna sounds interested in maleshep (mebbe), conrad calls femshep beautiful. beyond that, ashley/kaidan fall for male/femshep. that is all. people admire shep, but have to get to know him/her to get beyond the hardbitten/hero persona. it works for me.

me2, however, just...maleshep becomes this james bond character. i remember hearing a dev refer to him as such in an interview and i was like "wha? what shep are you talking about?" bond gets many ladies, works ALONE, is not a leader of anyone, and answers to no law. while the last (and the ladies) MIGHT work for renegade shep, none of the rest did. so maleshep goes off in this bond direction and femshep ends up with having to blatantly hit on maliens or reluctant crew to get any attention. meanwhile, asari keep making suggestive remarks in her direction all the time.

so, yeah. more a ME1 to ME2 oddity. kind of like the N7 armor. not that it's BAD, per se, just that it emphasizes the difference between the male and femshep is strange ways that may or may not fit with how things were in one's take on the 1st game.

edit for grammar

Yes, it was most illuminating. Seems Bioware is a little less skiddish about potential backlashes than most folks give 'em credit for.

Maybe she already did. Shiala "embraced eternity" with Shepard to give her the cypher. Maybe she's a good multi-tasker.

I don't think it's unusual for Shiala to be attracted to Shepard. Were I in Shiala's position there's little doubt that I will at the very least greatly admire Shepard. Admiration can easily lead to attraction, particularly if the person you admire spared you and gave your life a new direction.

Not necessarily. It means that the people writing for Dragon Age are less skiddish about potential backlashes than the people writing for Mass Effect. It's two different teams, made up of very different people. Personally I'd love to see Gaider as Lead Writer on ME3, since that might mean femShep gets to develop as a character. But it won't happen :(

Yup. The Dragon Age team is made up of the veterans and Mass Effect seems like it has more rookie writers on it, plus Mac Walters.

It's the same company, though, right? Odd. You'd think they have some consistent policy on that. Guess not.

Yeah, Liara fans especially don't care for him much, mainly due to Redemption

Let's just say that I hope that Patrick Weekes also writes Ashley and Kaidan in the hypothetical VS DLC. When comparing Mac Walters' work with Liara in Redemption, to how Patrick Weekes wrote her in LotSB, I think it's easy to understand why Liara fans are hoping that Patrick will become her writer full-time. There's also Shepard's character development in LotSB, something that is clearly lacking in the ME2 main game.

Y'know, I still don't understand why Liara went postal.  There's no context to the change, not even in the comic. I
understand that she is a badass, especially when it comes to biotics, but all the rationalization in the world won’t change the fact that they really screwed her character over.  I like the idea of Liara going out on a limb to get Shepard’s body, but I don’t like the way they did it.  I’m getting a little too OT here, so I’ll stop.

Ok here is a hypothetical:

If you could get any person you wanted to voice femshep who would it be?

Or would most of you stick with Hale?

Personally I like Hale's VO, there are occasional scenes I am "Meh" at, but overall I like her work.

I've become so accustomed to my Shepard speaking with Jennifer Hale's voice, it would seem weird to have another actress voice her. To me, Jennifer Hale's voice is a part of Shepard's character, as it's just that damn good.

I agree 100% Redemption did not make sense. I was racking my brain the entire time trying to rationalize Liara's behavior. At least with LotSB she's closer to the old Liara. I'll just leave it at that because, yeah this is getting a little too OT.

Honestly, I think Hale does an amazing job. Hale IS Shepard. Sure a few lines might have been a bit overkill, but I honestly could not imagine Shepard any other way. In fact Whenever I read fanfic etc. that is the voice I always 'hear.'

For me, all of the changes regarding Liara would have been far more plausible if a greater period of time passed between the events of ME1 and 2. Two years is too short for such drastic changes, especially for an asari.

That is not even a question, no matter how many question marks you put behind that sentence! :) Seriously, though, Jennifer Hale, by the goddess, is a goddess! Without her fantastic voice the game would be severely diminshed. I can't imagine me ever wanting anyone else voice Femshep, not even as a hypothetical.
