Ok here is a hypothetical:
If you could get any person you wanted to voice femshep who would it be?
Or would most of you stick with Hale?
Personally I like Hale's VO, there are occasional scenes I am "Meh" at, but overall I like her work.
Hale. only Hale.
however, i there are scenes i prefer to others. the tone she hits w/ liara/kaidan/ash convos are THE BEST imo. it's that mix of authoritative, but sympathetic, maybe vulnerable, but not needy, that really works for convos. when she's out kicking butt, that voice is down, her explication voice is fine, too. but we need more of the "honestly, i'm not sleeping so well" femshep to balance out the "i promise you all: WE WILL STOP THEM!" shep

For me, all of the changes regarding Liara would have been far more plausible if a greater period of time passed between the events of ME1 and 2. Two years is too short for such drastic changes, especially for an asari.
I dunno about that per se. It can take as little as a few days for a person to change from a happy, sweet person to someone who becomes bitter and cold over losing her best friend.
In Liara's case, when we meet her again, she's gone from a naive, sweet Asari, "unearthing mundane Prothean artifacts" to being the second best thing next to the Shadow Broker. And she seems grown up more than one would indeed expect from an Asari. But, like I said, bitterness over a loss can really accelerate one's process of growing up. For Liara this apparently meant 'not giving a damn' any more, and becoming relentless and colder in her business pursuits. It's only at the end of LotSB that Liara breaks down again, emotionally, and finally lets a lot of that bitterness out. Underneath it all, the old Liara was still there.

I can think of ways to rationlize a great deal of change, maybe not to the extent of Redemption. Though honestly I need the romance in ME1 as a crutch to fully pull it off. Essentially I'd use the Alliance and Shepard as a public figure to drive Liara to take drastic action also it helps if Shepard has no family Hannah Shepard complicates things but not too much. I can see the Alliance driving the Alien members of Shepard's crew away because they want to create the myth of Shepard the first Human spectre. Liara is the closest thing Shepard has to a next of kin relationship and should be at the Alliance's funeral but politically having such a prominate Human linked to an Asari is problematic as it makes Shepard look less Human and more like the Aliens on the council. So she is forced out, but tries to find someway to both honour Shepard and try to give herself some closure to the whole ordeal. Since the Alliance doesn't bother trying to find the body Liara decides to find it to pay the respects Shepard deserves with the "Real" crew of the SR1 not the one screened through the Alliance propaganda machine. Then it's just a matter of adding the proper stresses to force her to become tougher and stronger and Cerberus getting involved trying to manipulate Liara into giving them the body so they can use Shepard for their own ends by reviving her.
Though we could have just avoided all this just by not killing Shepard and picking up where ME1 left off . . . just saying.

I don't even know who could do a definitively better job than Hale, I can think of people who could be more interesting to me personally as ManShep (Nathan Fillion!). Bernadette Peters might be interesting as a Earthborn Shep with a scrappy Brooklyn accent but that's sorta changing how the entire game works for the sake of something very particular.

I'd say this is, in no small part, simply due to Bioware hardly having Femshep explore her emotions/traumas/things that trouble her, at all. I agree we need to see more of the other side of Femshep; I wouldn't put the onus and/or blame on Hale for that, though. Not saying that you do, btw; just saying Hale, no matter how high up my pedistal she may be, still has to follow Bioware's directions.

Hale. I've been indoctinated by her voice, so for me she is Shepard. It's even odd to hear her voice coming from other femSheps.

Ashley kinda turned into Wynne from Dragon Age for me, in that I initially liked the character but in subsequent playthroughs some kind of Ashley based toxin built up in my body and now I don't like her. Which is strange because I remeber liking her I just don't remember why I liked her.

All this Shepard dying bit, all to justify giving us a new face editor. Tsk!
In the future I hope they just don't bother justifying it, they just let you edit the face and class because it's damn game and you can do whatever you want in a game. Their last attempt at justifying it had all the subtle crafting of a strategic nuclear strike.

Unfortunately I have heard that thay have already come up w/ something for ME3. I recall a thread w/ the question, "What's the first thing you want to see in ME3?" and several of the answers were character creator.

Awwww yeah.
But then again, I think that pretty much anything can be made better by a strategic application of Mary Elizabeth McGlynn. >.>
In general, though, I quite like Hale's voice acting.
(...On a related note, you know who would have made an awesome MaleShep?
David Hayter. That's who.)

Shepard's death was so lame, and honestly was a clear reset button.
I wish I could find the interview, but BW pretty much admits this is the only reason they killed Shepard off in the first few minutes of the game.

Solid Snake? I dunno if I'd be able to hear Hayter say anything other than "Metal Gear?!", he could be giving some big Paragon speech and all I'd hear would be "Otacon . . . Metal Gear?!"
I still say Nathan Fillion as Lt. Cmdr DudeShep, have him meet Kal'Reegar and it'd be like a Firefly reunion! And Shepard can call Reegar Jayne and Reegar can call Shepard Mal . . . wait I've taken it too far haven't I?
