Yes it is! I suppose that explains why I didn't see them. I'm not adverse to the idea of imposing some lingering, physical reminder of Shepard's ordeal (she died, after-all), but glowing red lines that got worse when you're a jerk? LIke other people, it seems, I was having serious Star Wars flashbacks. Besides which, I don't see any reason why they couldn't have kept both (the normal scars and the special, glowing mood-ring ones).
I hear ya. Reading Dr. Chakwas' email to Shepard, it seems BW attempted to justify it by asserting that a positive and compassionate mental attitude helps to heal the scars more quickly, whereas a brutal, ruthless and predominantly negative mindset causes the scars to worsen, and her physical appearance to deteriorate and fester. It still does not make that much sense though, even with the whole "mind over matter" aspect that BW seemed to attempt to implement. I've read of cases in which patients have been able to overcome acute illnesses through power of will and a desire to get better, but acting a jerk causing scars to worsen? Lame!
Props to BW for including the option to remove the scars, though, regardless of alignment.

So, most people take a trip to the med-bay to remove the glowy ME2 scars then?
Unnecessary. My Shepard is a good Paragon girl, and her scars heal naturally!

I let them heal on their own with my Paragon ways but IMO, the really scarred up Renegade face is ugly. :innocent:

Im ussually Paragon (or at least more Paragon than Renegade) so the problem tends to take care of itself by the time im, like, 10% of the way through the game. On my Renegade playthrough I decided to see aht it was like t keep thema nd I just couldn't stand it. Took a trip to med-bay. Its not like resources for upgrades are hard to stockpile.

I kinda like my renegande femshep with the scars, gives her character and makes her look brutal and unmoving. Too bad about the eyes though, I hate the red eyes, would rather have the aqua green ones paragon gives you

I like the scarring you start out with, so next time I play, I will try to go for a Paragon player with some Renegade, so I retain some scarring, but not get the read eyes.
I usually just heal the scars ASAP.

I usually purchase the med bay upgrade anyway, as I have way too much platinum and I want to use it on something!

I wonder if the scars will carryover to ME3, and be continued to be affected by alignment? Or, as I suspect, the face that you end ME2 with and import into ME3 will become your set face throughout the course of ME3, scars and everything?
Hmm. good question. I think I prefer the second option, but you ahve to be able to make new faces, dont you, since you ahve to be able to make new Shepards?

I didn't notice the skeleton thing, but I was paying more attention to the busted bones... then it was gone. Now I probably won't not notice it.
So, then! Pre-Lazarus scars on FemShep. Stylish? Ugly? Good idea? Bad idea? Did yours have one or no?
My FemShep has a cut on her eyebrow and lip from when some four-eyed slaver blasted an Overkill shot too close to her during her crazy awesome stunts during the Skyllian Blitz. The idiot only succeeded in marking himself as the next target of a biotic pawnch.

I love Hales delivery of the renegade options way too much to really do anything but renegade with her. Too bad because those eyes..... Its almost like samaras

Yes, I love her Renegade lines too. I usually make the big Paragon decisions, but throw in some Renegade when it fits with my character.

My main girl is Paragon, so the scars heal naturally. Still, I understand the confusion. It just doesn't fit the rest of the ME mythos very well. While a player can chose to see everything in black and white, the story and the MEverse are built on shades of grey. That fact is actually plainly pointed out in a talk w/ Samara. The other thing that bothers me about the scars is that nobody notices. Dark eye sockets, red glowing eyes and cracked peeling flesh would probably send up some red flags to most people.
Joker: (upon seeing DarkfemShepard): Whoa! Shepard. You might trying using a little bit more foundation next time. Something just to fill in the cracks, know what I'm saying?
DarkfemShep: F*ck you. Now get back to work before I gut you like a trout just to watch you flop around on the floor.
Joker: Ummm, okay. Geez, somebody hasn't had their coffee today.

I'm not sure, but I get the impression that the alignment scars will become a set part of your individual Shepard's character model should you choose to import your Shepard into ME3 with the scars still intact. The morality meters will obviously be reset, but I can't see them suddenly removing the scars too. Or perhaps it will become canon that Shepard had any remaining scars healed in the interlude between ME2 and 3? I dunno.
It's a moot point for me, though! My Shepard loves her smooth, virtuous Paragon skin!

Yeah, I agree...she's pretty damn scary looking with full Renegade scars...no one says a thing about them.

This.
I can't believe your squadmates don't comment on them or most importantly, your LI's. I would imagine seeing your scarred up face after two years would be frightening.
