Posted Image Thanks so much, sage. You take wonderful pics.

Y'know, when ME2 rolled around, I had completly forgotten about Shep's status as a Spectre. When the council offered to reinstate my FemShep, I was like "Oh yeah! She was one of those things in the last game, wasn't she?" LOL."

They didn't really do much with that status though. I'm guessing the Council wanted to keep quiet on the whole 'Shep's alive and she's potentially working for a human-supremist terrorist organization!' Not only that, but I'd bet, if sufficent proof got out about Shep's ressurection, then people would start to wonder HOW she came back to life.

Course, there's always the theory that she was undercover for the Alliance all along and was faking it. But for those who know the truth, the search for answers is just beginning. ;D

Looking back at the beginning, Miri's line about her incredulity about the Council send Shep to fight rogue pockets of Geth in the Terminus systems sort of changes when dealing with a male or female Shepard. The way Miri pronounces geth when talking about a female Shepard kinda says "Really, Council? Really? The nerve of you all!" Just something I picked up.

Hey, do any of you think that, given Jack's personality, that Shep could get close to her like a MaleShep could? I've seen her romance dialouge on Youtube and this thought bubbled up to the surface. Seeing as I'm going to write (or attempt to write. I've no real confidence in my writing skills as of yet) an ME2 fanfic, I was wondering how a FemShep would.....bond?....with Jack.

I don't know, maybe bond's not the correct word to use, but that's the only one I can think of.

Are you saying if we take away the restrictions that were set in the game? If so, yes, I do believe a FemShep could get as close as a DudeShep. I personally don't see any reason why this could not happen.

@Guardian: I've not managed to get through a ME1 playthrough with a maleShep yet (although I do have every intention - when I get the time). I have heard many recordings with Meer's voice though. I do have a preference for Hale because, like you, it's the voice I am more accustomed to listening to. It's hard to put my finger on exactly why I prefer it. Since I tend to lean towards Paragon (usually), most of the lines Hale's says do have that warmth others have referred to. There's also this assured confidence in the way she says things that doesn't come accross (to me anyways) as cocky or arrogant.

I am a fan of Meer's snark though. He pulls off arrogant, jerky, snarky Shep very well.

And, here's another shot of my main Shep. Running into an "old friend".

Posted Image

Personally, I find meer acceptable, but he does have several rough spots. Some of his paragon lines are simply terrible, but since I play Paragade, it's alright. Most of the really sappy stuff I don't even choose simply because it serves no purpose. I comfort the mother on Samara's LM and Tali on her's, but a lot of the charm options are forceful in nature, so I think Meer is good enough for them.

Honestly, the worst dialog I have heard from Meer is the final act of the suicide mission, where he tells them to hold the line. Really, he sounds like he has a cold, but it isn't the fault of his delivery.

I guess I would contradict your assertion (but not a disingenuous one) that he is only good at jerky or snarky. I would say he is best at force, and it doesn't really matter which option type it is or what the vein of line.

So it seems that Hale is best at paragon and compassion and Meer is best at force and aggression. How's that for sexist? ;)

Especially considering that Jack's dialogue has her in sexual (not romantic) relationships with women before, and somehow when talking to Shep she doesn't play for the home team... I don't get that.  If there's anyone on the ship that should be bi, it's her.

Yeah, BW kind of went back on their word with that one. Even if she was not Bi, I still think a FemShep could have gotten to know Jack quite well, if she wanted to.

The Jack/FemShep friendship is sorely lacking, indeed. Some say Jack isn't the type to have friends, but then you'd think if this were the case, it would have been a lot harder for DudeShep to romance her.

It could of been like the Morrigan and FemWarden friendship path in Dragon Age: Origins that was exceptionally well done without requiring you to sleep with Morrigan in order to get some character development out of her. In general the non-existent friendship paths with most squadmates really hurts the game. It's almost impossible to get to know anyone unless you're sleeping with them, it's a major problem in ME2 and it needs to be addressed in ME3.

People can be friends you know it does happen!

This. ^ I felt like, aside from her earlier conversations and loyalty mission, we didn't really get indepth with Jack in terms of developing a friendship.

I was contemplating how I said my question, thinking that I might have phrased it a bit wrong and people thought I meant a relationship with her. While it would still kind of fit the answer I was looking for, I was going for more of a friendship than a romance.

damn... only two days, and so much awsomness...

i actually think that the games do a good job making LIs who are good matches for femshep. i mean, really, who could keep up with her? i think garrus, liara, and thane can. liara is sweet, and

i think she and femshep have a special something. garrus and thane, too.

ME1 yes. ME2 ? I dont know.
Jacob, facepalm worthy. In spanish we say "vergüenza ajena". Literally, other's shame, or shame on behalf of the other. Damn, I dont think there's a good translation for that one
Garrus. Way too awkward. And I see him as a friend, not as a romantic option
Thane. A dying man, still mourning his wife's death... Too much drama.

Skyline_Stanza wrote...

On the topic of squadmates, do your Sheps pick and choose 'mates based on gameplay or RP elements? (Ie Tali and Leigon, Jack and Miranda, Mordin and Grunt, Garrus and Miranda etc)

In ME1 gameplay is not that great IMO, so I can pick the ones I like. Liara is always with my sheps on missions, so that leaves only on free spot to try a 'different' combination.
But in ME2 I play on Insanity, so I take the best squaddies for the mission, or the ones who complement Shepard's skills. For instance, when playing a Sentinel, Jacob is there for almost the entire playthrough (incendiary ammo and pull). I replace him with Zaeed for Geth missions.

I got the confrontation scene with Liara and Kaidan more or less on accident the first time I played ME1. I felt really sorry for Liara afterwards but she took it in a very dignified way.

I found out about that confrontation just recently. I dont like deceiving or misleading one character if I already know who i'm going to pick.
But yeah, I saw vids in YT the whole thing is very well written.

I'm curious, what kind of builds do your FemSheps have? Like, power-wise and things.

Abby: Vanguard
Incendiary (4, Inferno)
Pull ( at least 1 point)
Charge (4, heavy)
Passive (4, Champion)
Bonus power: Slam. After playing LotSB, Stasis. Maybe next run i'll try Reave.

Cryo ammo or Pull, sometimes I max out cryo for squaddies, others pull field (stupid shockwave requirement).

Hayley: Engineer

Overload (4, aoe)
Incinerate( 4, aoe)
Drone( 4, attack drone)
Cryo blast (1)
Passive( Demolisher)
Bonus power: Neural Shock (4, aoe)

@ Chignon
I'm trying, but finding a backround that suits her is kind of...hard to place. I think I'm going to go down the Colonist/Ruthless route, but Torfan, for her, was a sort of catharsis, a purging of all that hate she felt for the batarians and slavers who took her parents away from her. A bit cliche, I know, but that's what I feel her past is like.

Check out Sage's thread for backgrounds.

Reverie wrote...

That's how it is. I really thought that Vanguard would be the class for me. But Engineer it is. Though Vanguard is fun with my maleshep. Suits him a lot better.

Seriously, people do have friendships. Unfortunately it seems that a lot of the relationships have 2 settings... acquaintances, and love interest. I'd like to see my Shep form some actual bonds that don't involve romance.  As hard as it is to believe sometimes, Shepard is a person too. She does need people she can actually depend on for more than just killing stuff.

These two, so hardcore. I want to see FemShep, or any Shep for that matter, have that kind of friendship with the newer squadmates. All this time, we get to ask about thier problems/siblings/past, and they're never curious about our character. Oh no, we're all just 'gun-toting psychotherapists'.

Speaking of pasts, for those who have the Spacer/Colonist background (sorry Earthborns), have you imagined what Shep's parents looked like?

I imagine my Shep to be adopted, to be perfectly honest. She has darker skin and hair than her mother, who's a little on the gray side, and a bit stout with short hair and those big glasses people wore way back when. Nothing on a name, but that's how I imagine her to look like.

Ah! I've an idea. For the Earthborns, was there a specifc person that Shep looked up to or made friends with?

Sorry if I'm putting you all on the spot like this. I'm just very curious about your characters.

Neither did Dudeshep. You still have to romance her to be friends with her, otherwise she gets her feelings hurt and rejects further conversation with you.

I know that sounds mean, but it's the truth.

That's why I love Samara and Thane. You get a lot out of them no matter what angle you choose and at the end of the game I feel like we are friends.

Garrus is a given, and that's the problem. It's a given you are friends, so he doesn't get much. Neither does Tali, which was sad.

I also liked Mordin for friendship. His last conversation is very personal, which made me feel like we had gotten past the history of Mordin stuff and gotten to a closer connection.
