Great point and well said about the series' lore being undercut. It feels as if more time would have to have passed between the 2 games to make this new world a reality.

What if Shepard had been dead for 20 or 30 years? With my writer's mind, at least, I think that would have been really interesting. It could have allowed for more human biotics to enter the series in a way that didn't seem to stretch the plausibility of the canon. In a lot of ways that would have been terribly unsatisfying for me as a player, of course... especially since my favorite Shep is Kaidan loyal...

All that to say, yeah, I don't think it makes sense within the story for there to be so many human biotics all of a sudden.

I'd actually like what you'd do with that Avalon! Or someone....I'm already attempting to write something I find a little diffcult. Trying to write something like the ideas above would...tax me....I think. Thinking of all the different scenarios, how Shep's crew would have changed.

Awesome! I'll save these links, and watch them a little later. I've loved your other videos, f1r3storm. I'm looking forward to eventually watching these!

I love Two Steps from Hell.  And judging by the baby's attempt to crawl up my leg to look at the computer, he approves your music choice as well.  :D

Biotics might still be very rare but Cerberus has the money to steal them away from their old employers.

Tried commenting on the Youtube page, but it said something about 'comment waiting approval' or something. Regardless, I thought the video told your Shepard's story wonderfully, without dialouge. I loved the theme and the clarity of the video really helped.

Loved it!

Sage, those screenshots are awesome, and Kyrie has never looked better. Which is saying a lot, since she still remains solidly at the top of the list as my favorite femShep ever. I won't quote the images because lots of other people have, but she's just so expressive using such minimal actual expression... it's really something. Of course there's the skill of the photographer, too, I'm still amazed how you pull off all those perfect shots.

Anyway, I'll stop gushing now.

Wow! Nice video! :) You managed to show so many interesting moments of the game. Awesome!
And the song is fantastic! One of my favorites.  I made two Mass Effect Trailers, using this music.

and i keep forgetting thane is a biotic. as his class skills are so like my adepts, i never use him and his intro scene is more kung fu like than biotic, so...dunno. i wish they could have some skillzors that were more melee-like. yeah. too many biotics. kaidan and biotic shep were these unique people in ME2 and then two years later, everyone is a biotic. i agree - it should have been miri, jack, and samara. it sort of undercuts their powers that jacob just is a biotic - randomly. it seems they did that only so they could use the pull skill in the tutorial. <_< hmpf. that's what i think about that.

i agree with this too.
jacob and thane as biotics doesn't make much sense.
add to that, an awesome  techie as legion, has a terrible priority in the "recruitment" list.
in my runs, usually he's only in two missions at most. his loyalty mission and the SM.
if you want more, either get your entire crew killed by getting the IFF right after the DCS or hack your save file. i did the latter once. legion is awesome, he has some unique dialog on several missions.

The fixed that with DLC. Kasumi and Zaeed aren't biotics :P

Agreed. Alot of emphasis was placed on the fact that Kaidan is a biotic, and how his abilities are somewhat rare and unique amongst humans. Hell, half of his backstory revolves around the fact that he endured some incredible hardships due to the fact that he is a biotic. However, this changes in ME2. In the retail version of the game, all human squadmates possess biotic powers, and it's no longer considered to be something that is rare and unusual. It's strange, and I can't escape the feeling that the Mass Effect series' lore was undercut for the benefit of gameplay.

Kaidan tells an Adept Shepard that she seems to be more powerful than most L3s. In ME2 however, she is no longer considered to be one of the more powerful human biotics. It's strange.

Emphasis added.

That hits the nail on the head for a lot more than just human biotics.

*blush* thanks.

re: biotics - adenate, i think your point is a good one - cerberus takes the strongest humans. but still, it made NO sense for jacob, esp as he never talks about it. considering that it is a major defining thing in miri's life, jack's life, and kaidan's life, it undercuts their painful histories for him not to have any mention of how his biotic affected his life. jacob was just sloppy characterization in general, imo. sorry, but there it is. ME2 drives me crazy sometimes for how spectacular the writing can be at moments and then how totally slipshod it can be at others. i did the renegade option with patriarch this time and LOVED it - the writing, esp. the debrief with aria, was fantastic, imo. then i go talk to jacob and it's all [smilie]http://social.bioware.com/images/forum/emoticons/andy.png[/smilie] like the illusive man, i can't tell if the writing is sneaky planning everything out in advance or just sort of doh-de-doh, whoops, it all went rogue on me.

borrowing that img from the faces website. i think she looks a little like julie andrews in the sound of music. Fraulein Shepard FTW! (and edit: that is not my shepard, as i think you can tell. i don't know whose it is, but i like it!)

Well if you think about it, TIM wanted Shepard surrounded by the best. with all his resources he knew where to find all these biotics. He already knew where to find Jack since Cerberus made her a biotic tank, Miranda was already in his organization, the same with Jacob,  Samara's an Asari (nuff said), and Thane was a surprise biotic and is probably the only manufactured one since he doesn't use biotics in cutscenes like the rest of the other Biotics on the team.

"Fraulein Shepard FTW!"

LOL. I just saw an advertisement for that on Blu-Ray. Yeah, I like Kelly's hairstyle on that Shep. Frauline indeed. :P

Re: ME2 writing. I agree on certain parts. I tend to try and be buddies with Jacob, and there's all those...flirty lines...and and...ugh, I can't get through his dialouge without going "Dear Shep, you DON'T find Jacob attractive in anyway, so why are we making passes at him erry chance you get? Love, Me." I now finally see what you all are talking about when you mention a forced romance.

I agree with Sage that Jacob's biotics seem to be second nature to his character. He does NOT talk about them at all, and though I find it useful to set up a biotic explosion, I would rather have him be a soldier or some other combat class for story purposes. Maybe I'll rectify that in my fanfic, or at least maybe have him be a biotic, but expand on his past a little more.

Thane uses biotics in the load trailer if you take too long to hit "start." But that's the only place.

This just looks like a candid photo that one of the squad mates took in battle:

Kyrie: "Miranda, (with a chuckle) what are you doing?
Miranda: "I'm taking your picture, to post on my Facebook"
Kyrie: C'mon...Put your iphone away, we've got mercs to kill!"
