there is nothing wrong with that. i happily enjoy sia's sharrus fic no end, for example.

@ vanguard: i'm hearing you. yeah. VS romance is something you kind of have to ask yourself if it's worth the heartache - and headache of wondering why the devs seem to be ignoring them. :?

i only wish i had ELE's photoshopping skills. my oriignal pics had some MAD clipping going on. there's a little in those pics, but i think i avoided the worst of it.

sigh and that is ALL the kaidan for ME2 and thus ALL the lovin' kyrie's gonna get. is it any wonder she goes paragrade?

I suppose, to be honest, I get a little jealous that you all can immerse yourself in your Shepards and really see her as a living, breathing person with her own strengths and flaws. I haven't really found that niche, even with Cam in the picture.

I really haven't found a Shepard that I could click with, that I could find myself saying 'THIS is Commander Shepard, hero of the Citadel, the first human Spectre."

Personally, I went through a year's worth of femshep's before I stopped making new ones and settled on Teagan.  I really like character creation, so it went: make a new Shep, do a playthrough, delete, come back later, make a new one, rinse, repeat (as a side note, Mass Effect (1&2) is the only game I've really wanted to keep coming back to--like a good book.)

I noticed she didn't become 'canon' for me until I started making fanart of her and writing down her backstory.  It really helped make her come to life as a character in herself, not just another Shepard.  I really noticed when I tried to make a new shep and I missed playing 'my' shep (In Russia California, you don't play Teagan Shepard, she plays you! Hurr hurr.)

So maybe you'll find one that really speaks to you.  Or maybe you'll just have fun playing the game (which is what most people do.)  Both are great.  Either way you're spreading the femshep love.  And you come up with some interesting questions.  Femshep!

I have to agree. she reminds me of my own (soon-to-be) canon Shepard. Maybe too much so...

On second thought they look very similar. Crap.

Well, it's hard to explain. Morgan was, and I'll stick with this number just for the heck of it, the sixth or so Shepard I created that made it all the way through the game (i.e. wasn't abandoned, deleted, etc). She wasn't the last, either. There were several Shepards. Male, Female. Paragon, Renegade, Paragade, Renegon, even Neutral.

None of them actually had a "personality" to me, mainly because they didn't feel like individials, just gameplay decisions. That changed with Morgan at one point with the absolute smallest and most insignifigant detail. It was probably the result of an episode of "Galactica", but for one reason or another I thought to myself; "if Shepard had some kind of callsign in the military, what was it?"

And then it came to me. Her callsign was "Songbird". Why? That was her father's pet name for her. Almost immedeately the floodgates opened, and Morgan went from just a name and a character class to an actual character.

I "clicked" with my canon Shepard when I started caring about the details of who she was. Hopefully the same thing will happen to you :)

Yay.

I love the femsheps in this thread.  (Part of me wants to make a group pic of all of them...except with more femsheps.  And fewer eye patches.)

Thanks ELE. I suppose where I'm coming from in being frustrated about this is the character creation aspect of it. I've wanted to be a writer ever since I was little, and have been writing on and off for about a decade or so, but never got the drive to publish or even finish any of my original or even fanfic ideas.

I'm impatient, I'll admit that much. I don't like to wait, or go on these long time-consuming processes of creating characters with equal strengths and flaws. I realize that that's not the way the world works or how good writing is supposed to be.

I want them to be thier own person, but just end up being an extention of my own personality, or, really, just ME in that universe, be it fanfic or otherwise.

In short, I'm frustrated, wondering if all my hard work and failed attempts at writing are really leading up to something, or am I just set up for failure from the very beginning.

.....WOW. I didn't NOT mean to come off as a cry-baby. Ugh... I suppose that's what I get for typing this, late at night, when I SHOULD be writing a rough draft of a paper that's due tommorrow.

Anywho, I LOVE all the creative work that you all put into your characters, as I hope to one day get a FemShep of equal caliber up here that I can be proud to say "THIS is Commander Shepard."

Until then, I guess my characterization questions'll just have to suffice. :P

Col. Tigh's eye patch was super cool, how can you not love a one eyed drunk who says frack all the time?

I think the Shepards in this thread are so well done because their's creators tend to be chronic screenshot takers and as such they spend a lot of time pouring over every detail of their character's face. So they end up a lot more refined than someone who makes it and then never really sits down and looks at a still picture, that's when you really notice minor details.

Plus some of us mod our games as much as we can, so I'm sure that has something to do with it.

Dang all this talk of Canon's When I got the pc version I was kind of sad because Kallen didn't have a face code. but low and behold I subconsiouly remembered what I did for her in the CC and voila, I remade her from scratch and can take screenshots of her whenever the hell I want!

Hmm, we'd need a massive amount of screens (which we have, more or less) for either one hell of a Photoshop job or someone to use as reference for some kind of painting/illustration. Hint, hint to those fan artists out there.

(I'm a photographer, if anything, so wrong medium :/)

I do love that one-eyed drunk ;) Just thinking maybe it wouldn't suit a femshep quite as well.
That pic was the best thing I could find as an example layout.

I would need face codes.  We have a great repository of screenshots (thanks Captain) but the quality of captures varies too much to use.

Hey, characterization questions are fun. If anything they even make you think about stuff that you might not have even thought of yet.

Hell, it's been a few pages since the last one (which I realize I never answered), so let's throw a few out there now.
  • Your Shepard has a "free day". On this one day nothing else matters. There is absolutely nothing that she, or any of her crew, need to either worry about or be threatened by. Not the Collectors, not the Reapers, not Cerberus. This day is hers to do whatever she wants before having to go back to "business as usual". What would your Shepard spend that day doing?
  • Out of everything she owns (or did own, if it went down with the Normandy or something similar) what is the object that your Shepard treasures the most?
  • What is one fact (or more, if you're on a roll) about your Shepard that, in universe, no one else knows? It can be related to her past, her personality, whatever.
... that should keep ya'll busy for a while

good questions. umm....[*]free day - a walk, a coffee, stop by a bookstore, have some ramen. kyrie is pretty big on simple pleasures since she never gets any free time. if she had friends with her, that would be fine - if she had time to herself, she'd fill it quickly. Oh noes...

Your Shepard has a "free day".

Watching movies, eating junk food in her underwear. She likes low brow humor, and the 22nd century equivalent of Guy Ritchie.

Out of everything she owns (or did own, if it went down with the Normandy or something similar) what is the object that your Shepard treasures the most?

She had a best friend/big brother-type in the 10th street reds that got killed right before she decided to enlist. She kept his lighter which she found in his belongings. Doesn't work anymore. It was in a safe deposit box on earth when the SR1 got collector'd, so she was able to retrieve it.  She keeps it to remember where she came from, and to never forget those she leaves behind.

What is one fact (or more, if you're on a roll) about your Shepard that, in universe, no one else knows? It can be related to her past, her personality, whatever.

She likes horrible sappy romance movies, which she would never admit to anyone. Think, the 22st century version of The Notebook. She sneaks 'em in when she has time alone.

Argh formatting.  What'r ya trying to do to us?

Adding on to sagequeen's points - I guess Teagan is an extrovert.  She's very assertive.  But given the choice, she likes to be alone.

You picked up on that, huh?  It's an idea I've been kicking around for a bit, hopefully I would be able to pull it off.  I do like a challenge.  My main concern is picking a set number of FemSheps so I can make a nice scene, and picking which ones to use without leaving anyone out.  Maybe we could have a vote in the group?

Then I'd need OKs from their respective owners and face codes...:?...nah, it'd be fun ^_^

1. She'd maintain her gear and catch up on work.  If she had free time after that, she'd meditate.

2. Ashley's cross.

3.  There's a slim chance that Anderson doesn't know where the scar on her face came from, and no one else does.  Other than that there are probably a few things that people don't know that just don't come up.

Ughhh, not really off topic, but for those who play on PC with all graphic settings turned ON and at the Ultra High level, what aspect of my laptop should I improve? The graphics card? Something else? And improve to what level?

I want to play with my Femshep on my Lenovo with all the character mods and such, but I get severely annoyed when I have to downgrade the graphics and make everything look crappy and blurry all for the sake of performance, you know?

Look at Teagan! Look at adneate's Shepard! They're gourgeous<3 so much so that it wouldn't be right to play as them on ME PC on a low graphic level.

Well, fair's fair...

Your Shepard has a "free day". On this
one day nothing else matters. There is absolutely nothing that she, or
any of her crew, need to either worry about or be threatened by. Not the
Collectors, not the Reapers, not Cerberus. This day is hers to do
whatever she wants before having to go back to "business as usual". What
would your Shepard spend that day doing?

Morgan would spend as much of the day as she possibly could with her mother, Hannah Shepard, who she hasn't gotten to spend a decent chunk of time with since close to a year before the events of ME1. She's spend the day with her mother, catching up, reminiscing, try to actually be mother and daughter for once (something the pair rarely get the opportunity to do). Morgan might possibly introduce her mother to members of her surrogate family, like Garrus, Tali and Joker while she was at it. Her mother meeting some of her closest friends would mean soo much to her.

Out of everything she owns (or did own, if it went down with the Normandy or something similar) what is the object that your Shepard treasures the most?

It's a tie between two things. The first is a sterling silver pendant in the shape of a bird. Her father, Daniel Shepard, gave it to her on her ninth birthday. The reason the pendant is in the shape of a bird is because her father's pet name for her was "songbird", his justification being that her voice was always music to his ears. Morgan wore that pendant every day after getting it, including under her armor while hunting for Saren.

The other is her father's old service jacket, which was a worn dark navy canvas jacket that he always wore when he was off-duty. Morgan's mother gave it to her when she was eighteen on the day she left to begin Basic Training.

Morgan was wearing the pendant when the Normandy was destroyed by the Collectors. It would later be returned to her by Miranda, cleaned up but still a bit worse for wear, a while after she took command of the SR-2. Her father's jacket was eventually recovered from her locker from aboard the original Normandy's wreckage.

What is one fact (or more, if you're on a roll) about your Shepard that,
in universe, no one else knows? It can be related to her past, her
personality, whatever.

Morgan has actually seen what a quarian's face looks like, or at least mostly. Sadly, it wasn't by the quarian's choice. During the Skyllian Blitz one of the many civilians she rallied to the impromptu defense was a young quarian on his Pilgrimage. The visor of his helmet was blown out by a pirate's grenade during the fighting and he later died from injuries aggrivated by infections from breaches in his suit.

I agree with this proposed idea of a collective pic of the thread's FemShep.

I vote Kyrie (it's kind of a given), Noah(also a given), Jessica(yet again, another given), and anyone else I might of missed...which is to say...one hell of an interesting gaggle of pixelated ladies.

I think my brain would explode from the sheer win of the picture....or I'd "squee" myself into an ME related coma...yes, I did type "squee." :P
