Okay, here's an interesting little exercise.

In each game, there are gonna be a lot of things that the writers made Shepard say that juuuust don't quite fit your Shepard. But by the same token, there has to be at least one line that stands out as if it were just written specifically for her. What were those lines for your 'canon' Shepard?

For Jessica, the ones that really lodged in my head as being exactly what the character would say:

ME1: "You ask me, boys need a cold shower that lasts from ages twelve to twenty-five."

ME2: "It's not the same, Joker. There's nothing here that was even part of the real Normandy."

edit: Top of the page screenies!

@Sage: I have write your blog about hair modding and taking screenshots, thanks for all the information you posted on there, it really helps! :D

I've given up commenting on every one of sagequeen's shots because I would be doing nothing but.  Just imagine that every time she puts up a new post I'm on the floor genuflecting at the awesomeness.

That being said, this one is outstanding even among her normally outstanding screenies.

Lines that fit Holly:

Joker: "You'll see, it'll be better than the old days!"
Holly: "Yeah, I hope so. I died."

Holly to Thane: "I spent two years dead. Every moment seems irreplaceable now."

Aria about Archangel: "Everything he does pisses someone off. It's catching up to him."
Holly: "Sounds like just the kind of guy I'm looking for."
Aria: "Well aren't you interesting."

Holly to TIM: "I won't let fear compromise who I am."

Batarian Plague Victim: "You helped me. Why?"
Holly: "It's what I do."

Garrus:  "No one would give me a mirror.  How bad is it?"
Holly:  (jokingly) "Hell, Garrus, you were always ugly.  Slap some face paint on there and no one will even notice."

Hey, characterization questions are fun. If
anything they even make you think about stuff that you might not have
even thought of yet.

Hell, it's been a few pages since the last one (which I realize I never answered), so let's throw a few out there now.

*Your
Shepard has a "free day". On this one day nothing else matters. There
is absolutely nothing that she, or any of her crew, need to either worry
about or be threatened by. Not the Collectors, not the Reapers, not
Cerberus. This day is hers to do whatever she wants before having to go
back to "business as usual". What would your Shepard spend that day
doing?

*Out of everything she owns (or did own, if it went down with the Normandy or something similar) what is the object that your Shepard treasures the most?

*What
is one fact (or more, if you're on a roll) about your Shepard that, in
universe, no one else knows? It can be related to her past, her
personality, whatever.
... that should keep ya'll busy for a while ../../../images/forum/emoticons/lol.png

I'll give answer from Lighter Jennifer and from Darker.

Lighter 1. When ever Jennifer gets free time she's going to spent it with Liara. After all her ordeals with being dead and with the collectors reuniting with her love was best thing that ever happened to her and she's going to give every free time she has to Liara.

Darker 1. Jennifer most likely would take Normandy to some remote place and spent a day groundside on exploring some unknown planet wearing her full combat gears. Exploring is dangerous. Even tho she have feelings towards Kelly who she sees as the only who always was nice to her since her death, she doesn't want to spent whole day with her.

Both 2. Jennifer has a pendant that was her mothers that' she keeps with her all times. Only times it hadn't been was after waking in Lazarus station and in freedom progress. After getting in Normandy SR2 she found it from her quarters. It's also one thing she doesn't understand how Cerberus personel had found out was important to her. No one knows about it and she doesn't wear it since it's broken. She just carries it with her. Even Liara doesn't know about it in case of lighter Jennifer.

Both 3. No one knows about the pendant of her mothers. As mentioned above she doesn't understand how anyone had known it meant so much to her.

I really liked it. Stories that shed light to what goes on Normandy when Shepard isn't present are interesting and all characters in Normandy really need more of their doings told. :D

Free Day:
Hmmmm, I think the first thing that would come to Holly's mind is a certain drell.  In her quarters.  With the door locked.  And a 'Do Not Disturb' sign.  :D

Failing that, I think she would enjoy visiting a nice garden world.  Perhaps go for a hike, take in the sights and relax.  Maybe have a nice dinner with her closest friends and squadmates.

Object:
A necklace given to her by her mother, when she was young.  She never takes it off.  It's a fire opal nestled in a golden setting that looks like leaves.  I imagine Miranda returning it to her, having recovered it somehow.

Obscure Fact:
When no one is around, Holly cranks up the music in her quarters and sings her heart out.  If Thane ever caught her doing it she'd be incredibly embarassed.  She made EDI promise to never tell anyone.

Ughhh, not really off topic, but for those who play on PC with all graphic settings turned ON and at the Ultra High level, what aspect of my laptop should I improve? The graphics card? Something else? And improve to what level?

I want to play with my Femshep on my Lenovo with all the character mods and such, but I get severely annoyed when I have to downgrade the graphics and make everything look crappy and blurry all for the sake of performance, you know?

Look at Teagan! Look at adneate's Shepard! They're gourgeous<3 so much so that it wouldn't be right to play as them on ME PC on a low graphic level.

Unfortunately, on most laptops, everything is integrated.  Other than maxing out the RAM so that there's more for the video card to share and less load lag for the game's data, there's not much you can do.  Might be able to upgrade the CPU, depending on the model.  Very few laptops have modular video cards.

Laptops that can do justice to graphics-intensive games tend to be on the expensive side.

thanks guys! *blush* i do so love taking them.

^ to give credit where credit is due, that one mimics a shot of akodo's i once saw. she was using the sun on horizon to great effect. it took me a bazillion shots to line it up just right. i was thrilled that kyrie's blond hair fit so well with the color composition of horizon. and with the medium armor on both her and kaidan, well, i was dancing.

i am actually such a screenshot geek that i had her packing the arc projector because it's the smallest and "prettiest" of the heavy weapons IMO. i usually have the collector particle beam, but it's just too bulky and awkward.

yeah. insanity mode and i'm choosing my armor and guns based on aesthetic decisions.

so thanks! and glad you enjoyed the hair-hack blog.

hmm... well, one thing I think my Shep did NOT say was in ME2, with Elnora, she wasn't trying to kill her. she was just trying to bring her in to custody. idiot girl pulled a gun and what are you going to do? half of her "renegade" points are really neutral points in my own head.

perfect fits? ummm... wow. i've spent so much time writing my own dialog for kyrie i have a hard time thinking of this. you know, i'm going to go with the interview in ME2 with al jilhani. when shepard just OWNS her with the recitation of the starships, i wanted to cheer. that seemed so exactly what kyrie would do - keep temper, but barely, and make an a** out of al jilhani while demonstrating her compassion for the innocent and her contempt for those who would captialize on their pain. it's possibly one of the most heroic moments in the game for me, even though it's just this little aside.

@ blashashes: i recently upgraded my graphics card and added 2 sticks of RAM (my hubby knows what kind of gifts I like. what a guy!) the difference was incredible. not sure if you can do a new graphics card in a lapttop, but the RAM might help. i also have turned off a lot of settings. for this playthrough, i'm not running fraps in video mode, because on the higher resolutions its just too much. so i'm focusing on screenshots.

On a free day I think Ari
Shepard would go paragliding on some beautiful little planet with
cliffs and beaches and things like that.

Her most treasured item
had been a hex nut about the size of a golf ball that her first
boyfriend who died on Mindoir found and gave her when they were kids.
She lugs it around everywhere and not just in memory of him, but of all
her childhood losses. I doubt she'll be able to find it again at the
site of the Normandy's wreckage, so I suppose she would seek out a good
tattooist and get an image of it tattooed somewhere on her body.

Right
now I imagine her past in the following way: I haven't decided whether
or not anyone has figured out her lie that she had a large family--
mother, father, brothers, and sisters-- who died in the raid on Mindoir,
when actually it was just her father (she had no brothers or sisters
and her mother died of an illness when Ari was about 11.) I'm playing
with the idea that the records for the colony were destroyed in the
batarian raid and, by some fluke, not accurately backed up on any
off-world data storage unit.

Off the top of my head I can think of maybe one line in particular;

Mordin: (just got done sharing his opinions on art, growth, and how the Collectors are culturally dead)

Morgan: "I'm sorry, I know all that was important... but you performed Gilbert and Sullivan?"

Good morning.  Wow, I'm glad to see so much interest.  I wish I could include everyone's femsheps, but I have to stop at some point before it becomes an army of femsheps (there's an intimidating thought) and so it gets finished in my lifetime.  Much much appreciation to everyone who has volunteered their facecode, at this point I've decided to make a cutoff and have contacted everyone I need to.

Oh yeah, you are also correct in asserting Teagan is more girly than most on here.  Just because she can drill you between the eyes from 100 meters doesn't mean she can't like sensitive stuff ;)

For Rachel Shepard

ME1:  Nobody stabs me in the back, Udina.  Nobody.   (she reverts to her thug ways sometimes)
ME2:  Probably the Paragon response to Khalisah al-Jilani's interview, in which she lists all the ship names destroyed at the Battle of the Citadel from memory.  She is great at retaining facts.

I've always romanced Liara. I've never been thrilled with how harsh you have to be toward Kaidan. Either you lead him on and then later let him down easy, or you're a total biatch in the beginning in order to not lead him on. That was totally OOC for my Shepard. She'd have let him down easy so as not to lead him on. Such is life however.

same here. i dont like lead kaidan on. i never let things go as far as the LI confrontation. but sucks being a jerk to guy just to avoid the romance path

ELE08 wrote...

Personally, I went through a year's worth of femshep's before I stopped making new ones and settled on Teagan. I really like character creation, so it went: make a new Shep, do a playthrough, delete, come back later, make a new one, rinse, repeat (as a side note, Mass Effect (1&2) is the only game I've really wanted to keep coming back to--like a good book.)

I noticed she didn't become 'canon' for me until I started making fanart of her and writing down her backstory. It really helped make her come to life as a character in herself, not just another Shepard. I really noticed when I tried to make a new shep and I missed playing 'my' shep (In Russia California, you don't play Teagan Shepard, she plays you! Hurr hurr.)

So maybe you'll find one that really speaks to you. Or maybe you'll just have fun playing the game (which is what most people do.) Both are great. Either way you're spreading the femshep love. And you come up with some interesting questions. Femshep!
snip

abby was the first femshep i created. before her, was one of the presets. dont even remember which one.
atm, didnt even have the concept of 'canon'. but it started feeling like a real character after i started thinking about her personal history (spacer/war hero). very little to start with, but it was something. and then i just stopped worrying about 'paragon/renegade' and just play game, making the choices abby 'would' do.
i wish i could write, but i kinda just have a bunch of thoughts all mixed up in my head.
