Okay, back to working on the femShep group painting!

Yay!

I hope Kathryn is given the chance to tell Cerberus to take a hike in ME3.  That's the nicest way of putting it.  As for the Alliance, she feels alienated by them too but hopes they will come to their senses.  Something tells me they really don't trust her now after joining up with Cerberus and the Hackett email in LotSB.

Shai hates Cerberus and the Alliance equally, hopefully her girlfriend's new resources will be all she needs.  She wants to tell both of them to get bent.

The focus needs to be put back on Shepard...not the cool new characters and gameplay like we got for ME2.  If someone wants to create a thread like this, I'd definitely visit.  I feel the writers and devs need to know that we play Mass Effect for Shepard's story, first and foremost.

Edit:
Fave desserts?  Something tells me both Shai and Kathryn would love cheesecake.  I mean, who doesn't?  I have the cutest image in my head of Liara feeding Shai cheesecake.  Shai doesn't smile much but I think that would make her smile.
I'm weird.

Tell it like it is, sister! If Bioware wants to make a point of describing the ME trilory as being "Shepard's story" they need to actually show it. Actually walk the walk n ME3, guys, don't just talk the talk.

Hopefully with their new gameplay mechanics down and their bloated cast of characters they can start telling Shepard's story again in ME3. Plus with it being the last game in the trilogy how about not catering solely to those who never played a Mass Effect game.

Colleen very worried that she'll get sidetracked in ME3 again, or that she forgot to feed the fish before going through the Omega 4 Relay!

Lia is right with you, and is planning...repurcussions if she gets sidetracked again.

In all seriousness though, ME2 may succeed at being an improved combat game in the ME series, but unfortunately it completely fails at being Part II of Commander Shepard's journey. I expected better from BioWare, I really did. ME2 feels like one big sidequest, and that our femSheps had to wait 8 months for a DLC to offer minimal character development was just...wrong.

With fanfiction.

Seriously, I took to fanfiction because the lack of cohesion bothered me SO MUCH.

It was either the scenario I came up with, something roughly equivalent to that, or space hamsters are controlling her brain.

Sage, after reading "the color of Shepard's Panties", I have decided this is the best bday present for me. It gave me such a good laugh while reading it. Thank you for your "present".:D

Like Chignon, Sable and the rest in here, you are always full of surprises! ^_^

"The Color of Shepard's Panties" is, quite honestly, what got me hooked on ME fanfics. It's a great one.

I loved it too!  It's total crackfluff, yet it somehow manages to remain totally in character, both with the characters and the universe, so much that I could actually see it happening.  :D

^hmm... that sounds highly negative. i
do LOVE ME2. it's just that when I get to the end, I realize that every
monumental or emotional or "h*ll yeah!" reaction was me, the
player, reacting - not Shepard reacting. that was not true of ME1. and
what i loved mass effect for in the first place was blurring the line
between the player, the avatar, and the character of femshep. mass
effect 2 had its moments, but they were few and far between.

This is a revelation, sage!  I never thought about it, but you're absolutely right.  I think the only part where I had that reaction was the actual suicide mission, where my heart was pounding in my dry throat just like Jessica's was (all three times I've been through it!  And I always jump in my chair when she saves her crew member from falling after the Reaper larva and misses the first time), and in Garrus' recruitment mission, when I just lifted inside after fearing he was dead and then seeing him walk in and shrug off a missile blast like a badass.  Also, probably the single playthrough where I romanced him, which was just heart-swelling.  Of course Shadow Broker counts as well.

There's a good question!  What areas of the game did your reaction like that match your femShep's reaction?

That's not wierd!  That's cute!  ... and sexy.  >ahem<  I think that's one of the few things that would make Jessica smile too.  Liara's about the only good thing left in her life.

Upon seeing the baby Reaper...we both facepalmed hard.  :P

More seriously, probably meeting Liara again for the first time on Illium...that was tough.  I had a sad, and so did my Shepard.

I wanted to say cheesecake at first because that's what I personally like, but then I thought about all the species that could produce dairy and suspected the results could be pretty funky. Sooooo I thought about her earthborn "raised on the streets" background and concluded that cookies would probably fit best since those can be swiped easily, stored in a backpack easily, and so on. I can see her picking up a jar while on a civilized planet and storing it on a shelf in her room for when the mood strikes.

No, actually it isn't. It's from after the fight with Vasir and Shepard/Liara are discussing their relationship...there's that one moment Liara gets a sweet, sad look on her face.

I think she gets a similar look if you don't invite her aboard as well. In any case, I want to give her a hug!

Oh geeze, how could I forget that?  Yeah, that too for me.  Once she got back on the Normandy Jessica tried to get drunk at Kasumi's little wetbar.  Too bad that Cerberus' implants purge any poisons out of her system in a matter of minutes.

Mad Liara.

When Shepard leaves after the fight.

I think Shepard sometimes has this kinda helpless look on her face. She certainly would be without Liara.

But it's a damn good reason to keep fighting.

I think my Shepard would likely retire from active duty after all this is over and try to settle down somewhere with Liara. Or sacrifice herself in the end if she'd lose her. :?

If you could go back and re-write this, how would you show Cerberus as a "shades of gray" organization? Image IPB

Not sure if that's possible with the established backstory from ME1.  They are basically the reason Shepard's (or at least my Shepard's) life is in the horrible place it is now.  Not very gray.  I have to say though, talking to Jacob and Miranda, the two of them haven't had the opportunity to sit on the outside and see what Cerberus is capable of.  That explains why it's so easy for TIM to just say "they went rogue" whenever something is unearthed and have his people believe him.  Hell, half the crew doesn't even know what is even up with Cerberus. (Ken and Gabby, Gardner) The problem is, Shep had plenty of time to see their true colors, and really doesn't get the opportunity to express this in-game.

Just my take on this.

Cell-based organizations can do that. Limited information about the other cells is part of how it works. So the Normandy cell can be just a crew working for Shep without doing anything monstrous like the groups Shep destroyed.

Yeah, I don't see the "gray" in Cerberus. Perhaps they have a few cells that takes in orphans, performs charity and disaster relief and mistakenly think that balances out the other groups mentioned?

ObOnTopic: Hm. Need to create a FemShep and make a run through ME1. Wondering if I should create one from scratch or base her on a favorite fictional character. Honor Shepard? Ekaterin Shepard? Buffy the Reaper Slayer?
;)

Also, maybe this has been brought up before, but for some reason I have the impression that femSheps (and those who play her) are typically more pro Alliance or at least more anti Cerberus than her male counterparts (and those who play him.) Thoughts?

I'm a bit late to the party on this one, but I spent most of the weekend trying to handle some RL issues so first time I've had a chance to peruse around here.

Alexis is certainly more pro-Alliance than anything else. She enlisted to try and make her parents proud (she is a Spacer kid after all), and to do something worthwhile with her life once it became obvious she had latent biotic abilities. She absolutely detests what Cerberus did in ME1, and working for and/or with them is something she abhors. Going into ME2, I really try to focus on each individual scene as the story progresses.

When Alexis first wakes up post-Lazarus project, she's extremelly disoriented. Between the pain, the remnant effects of whatever drugs they were using to keep her sedated/unconscious, and the sudden fire fight to kick in her survival instincts, she has problems wrapping her mind around everything that's really going on. Hence the, "I think I recall that name..." line with Jacob when he mentions Cerberus. It's not that she's suddenly forgotten what Cerberus did, it's that her brain is still trying to get all the processes back in line.

And, after she gets off the station, Miranda and TIM begin their manipulative blackmailing of Alexis to ensure she does what they want her to do. They drop the fact that she's been dead two years in her lap, they coerce her into agreeing to go see one colony in order to have firsthand experience at what is going on (Freedom's Progress), and TIM has spent several months prior to all of this leaking information about Shepard maybe not being dead to Council space. They've done their work to ensure that Alexis sees a major threat that has to be handled, give her the tools to handle them with Cerberus, and when she goes to speak to the Council or to the Alliance, she finds out that everyone is ready to believe she faked her death and went rogue. No one is willing to take a chance on her (and from the other perspective, I would be reluctant to trust Shepard as well). She doesn't have any other option, so if she wants to stop what's going on, she has to agree to work with devil.  Which she hates. And it all together makes her doubt alot of things about herself, so she won't contact old friends, her mother, etc. because she doesn't feel worthy (not quite the word I was looking for.. but it'll suffice).
