Oh also: I think Abby with the mohawk is strangely awesome.

Thank you, but the thing is it doesn't fit her character. Like I said, Abby's evil twin.

I honestly never understood this argument. Working with Cerberus is working for Cerberus. (For there is only one Lord of Cerberus, and he does not share power, etc etc.)

This.

Abby hopes she'll be able to return to alliance ranks some day, sooner rather than later. Of course she feels abandoned by the Alliance, and their apparent negligence about the reapers is also disappointing, maybe with further development of Anderson's and Hackett's characters she'll make some sense of it.
Cerberus ? Screw it.
It's too bad the game doesn't give you the chance to break your relation with Cerberus. It would have been a nice twist. Maybe after the DCS. By then, you probably have the loyalty of several crew members, you know the location of the Collector home world and you know where to get the IFF. And you already have experience hijacking the Normandy.

As for the 'final' choice. Abby keeps the base, but not for TIM. She has, as far as we know, the only working IFF to reach the base, and the Normandy is pretty much hers by then. She keeps the base to involve the Alliance, maybe the Council. If TIM wants it, he will have to leave his hiding place and fight, or just swallow his pride.

I know any of this is in the game, but that's how I like RP that last choice.

Yeah, she does..it's heartbreaking :(

I'm not sure how Shepard could do that...so terrible.

I was never able to take that choice, not even to 'explore' the game.:crying:

Fave desserts?  Something tells me both Shai and Kathryn would love cheesecake.  I mean, who doesn't?  I have the cutest image in my head of Liara feeding Shai cheesecake.  Shai doesn't smile much but I think that would make her smile.
I'm weird.

That's not wierd!  That's cute.

It's all of the cute. All of it. I sort of need that little pick me up today after a small oral presentation our instructor threw at us today in class.

Cam's favorite dessert would have to be...lemon bars or lemon cake. Something tart (but not to tart!) but sweet as well. Her mother used to make the best desserts when she was alive, and Cam keeps a small data file that she recovered on her mother's recepies.

Somehow I imagine Cam and Liara, with what little time they have together, baking. Cam's covered in flour and Liara's giggling to herself and then a small kitchen war erupts between the two of them and no baking gets done. Image IPB

Matching in-game reactions with her? Probably the heart pounding and nervous twitch that her crew wasn't going to make it or that she hadn't done errything in her power to keep them alive.

And the small teary-eyed moment when Tali discovers her dad...(Yeah, I got a little choked up at that...Image IPB)

i certainly don't want to derail into a "problems with ME2" discussion. that wasn't my intention. i was actually trying to bring it back to femshep in that what i find most problematic is that the story isn't about femshep much anymore. well, come to that, it's not about story, which was sort of the issue. it's enough about shepard that it is still fun and doesn't ruin the saga, and i do LOVE moments of awesome, drama, comedy, etc:

Image IPB

it's sort of like the animators + Hale kept femshep alive for me in ME2, even when the plot seemed to kill her and then not revive her.

Brodyaha wrote...

Not saying I don't agree with what sage says to a certain extent, but Shepard was railroaded into being a Spectre in ME1 too.

moments that i shared a reaction with shepard? the above ^/end of horizon just sort of shell-shocked, stunned expression. i was confused and floored. it didn't help that what came before was NOT my reaction at all. ("how you doin?" what about *tackle* "let's get the h*ll out of here and leave these cerberus crazies").

that might be it. shep's apparent glee at telling off TIM....hmm.... complaining to Liara. well, most of LotSB. but yeah. much of the time shep's reaction - while it should be different than mine in that she's a marine, etc, was just way too wooden. i think, for example, the morinth experience would totally shake my shep to the core, as she failed the persuasion check. i dunno. just a moment or two to *reflect* OR to be able to reflect and deliberately choose not to - would have been nice.

it's hard to think of your shep as stoic when she can't choose to be otherwise.

that is true. i think, though, that 1) it was never suggested that being a spectre was horribly evil, the way that working with cerberus sometimes was. 2) people respected you for it, not yelling at you (horizon?) 3) you could RP a paragon or renegade shepard or all shades inbetween as a spectre. renegade shep just wants the power. paragon wants to help people. i always figured, being paragrade/neutral, kyrie distrusts lack of regulations, but does the spectre thing because it will help the alliance overall. and finally 4) you *could* express dislike over the spectre thing. you can tell the council off at every turn, you could complain about them to the crew, then kill them in the end, or, in ME2, you can just leave. i guess you can leave TIM, too, but it feels a little late and not a very clean break

@ hyper/cgrimm/sable - thanks. i'm glad you liked the fic. "color" was, truly, total fluff. i need to complete valhalla now. still working on original fic and being distracted by that ><

@ sable: pic is looking nice! i like the background you chose and the poses so far. looking forward to it!

In response to the dessert discussion: Damara is a chocolate lover. Milk-chocolate specifically, the dark is too bitter. She has a recipe for chocolate-chip cookies that her mother taught her before the Mindoir attack, but hasn't been able to cook them since. Feels that if she cooks them alone, she'll be acknowledging that her mother isn't coming back.

So she fills the dessert gap with chocolate pudding while working on her mission reports.

I imagine her with her knees up against her chest, spinning in the chair, gazing at the roof and idly licking the pudding off her spoon as she ponders what to say in her reports.

It looks like it's going to be a very nice piece Sable, I didn't know you were an artist. Though looking at your FemSheps it makes much more sense, people with artistic skill tend to have very good custom characters in games like Mass Effect and Dragon Age.

Yeah same for me, ME2 isn't a bad game it's probably better than ME1 but it's a worse experience and a disappointment. Hopefully it was the low point in the trilogy and the worst is over now. If it wasn't for FemShep being awesome and Hale doing her best to keep the character alive, I probably wouldn't have played ME2 as much as I have.

Does Sable Phoenix have an art gallery tucked away someone on the internets that we are unaware of? Cause I like what I'm seeing so far.

~~
As to what's being discussed about femSheps reduced importance in ME2 and the focus on other characters....does it make me odd to still feel that Shepard is my favorite character? It's all in my head really, and I cannot fault anyone for complaining about Shepard resembling a brick moreso than an actual character. Not sure if this makes my interest in Shepard purely superficial.

Great post, sagequeen!

I agree completely. The break with TIM doesn't seem clean at all. The first bridging DLC LotSB still starts off with Cerberus being the one to give FemShep the intel about the Shadow Broker and Vasir makes several references about FemShep's connections with Cerberus. I hope Bioware will change this in the next DLC.

Makes me wish that ME2 would give me a proper face code for Cam. Image IPB Then again, Cam's not as well known as some of the more iconic FemSheps here, like Kathryn, Shai, Kyrie, Jessica etc, so I don't know if she'd be included or not.

But enough about me b!tching. I love it, Sable. Can't wait to see the finished project!

Another question! If you could choose one television show from our time-period that you'd think your FemShep would enjoy, what would it be?

I think Cam would really enjoy Torchwood and Dr. Who.

Holly's favorite dessert would be ice cream.  Earth-style, of course, I don't know what non-humans would do with it. Chocolate flavors, definitely.  She's got a thing for chocolate like Troi on Star Trek.  ^_^

I'm pretty happy with how things are going with that painting so far.  I think I managed to include the femShep of every player I talked with; there's 13 in the picture so I inserted one in a gap in the original Battlestar cast, which had 12.  I actually found it surprisingly difficult to keep track of all of them, at various points I outright forgot to include one, switched planned poses between a couple, put the wrong headmorph on one... all in all, prep time for this project was a bear, it took about 3 days.  I'm happy to finally be doing the actual painting, things go much smoother when it's just a canvas and brushstrokes and reference materials.

And no... no hidden art galleries, I don't typically put my art up on the 'net.  Much of it would be difficult anyway because I favor graphite on real paper, and have no scanner.

Glad everyone likes what they're seeing so far, though!

It's not so much that they are "iconic". It's more of which Sheps are popular (and god please no one take offense to that).

Amazing job thus far. Can't wait to see what you're accomplished by the next time a WIP gets posted.

Right, in the meantime there's character questions that need to be answered. Favorite dessert? I'd say for Morgan it would have to be pie (probably strawberry and blueberry being the favorites) but I'd also expand that into fruit in general. Growing up in space you would think that fresh fruit isn't exactly something that's easy to come by, so whenever she got any I'm sure she thought of it as a special treat.

... now that I bring that up it's not hard to imagine Morgan having the same love of strawberries that Kaylee from Firefly has... and now my mind is wandering into places it doesn't need to be

Kaylee and Firefly are always good for the imagination.

And Ella is another chocolate-addict. Fudge brownies. With real whipped cream. Like, she used to whip her own heavy cream back on Mindoir whipped cream.

She is also a fresh fruit fan, as it reminds her of when they grew their own, rather than the many years in space since enlisting. Though, really, she just likes food. Proper grown food, rather than 'repurposed proteins' or the Alliance version of MRE's. Cause I'm sure those things are still varying degrees of nasty. At least some of them, anyways.
