One was a Sentinel Earthborn Shep, sort of the 'techie' gang leader, with a bit of biotics on the side. In my head, she was one of Miranda's abandoned 'sisters', rescued from destruction by some outside force. Perhaps the Shadow Broker or Cerberus.
Anywho, what's the oddest thing you've come up with or heard of for a Shepard background?

I like those shots Sage. Reminds me I should of taken more while I've been playing, but I've been so focused on just getting through insanity, I kind of forgot too.
thanks! insanity is distracting, isn't it? i am SO glad there is the pause and slo-mo functions, or i'd be dead a LOT more than i already am. insanity is not as bad as i feared, but it does require concentration.
and this time around, i knew i could only survive watching the post-praetorian mess that is horizon once. i got all my flycam stuff in one go. i just can't go back there again. it was too horrible to do that to kyrie. <---that sounds a little weird, no? i'm losing it, i think
but yeah, i have to constantly remind myself to either pause every now and then and do flycam or i have to remind myself not to flycam and stop dying

"No, Ash ... you're just being a b*tch."

Shepard: Itsy bity spider walked up the water spout ...C'mon, Jack. You know this!
Jack: ...

Liara: C'mon, Shepard, walk this way.
Shepard: What way?
Liara: This way ... like a matching band! Can't you just hear John Philip Sousa playing in your soul?
Shepard: Wait, I thought I was the one who fell on her head.

"I don't care what BioWare says about Vanguards! I want my warp back!"

Jack: And come back here with my vibrator!!

Alright, this is the background I toyed with for Damara, but only implemented one aspect of it. Damara was relaxing on Elysium when it came under attack forcing her to assisst in the defence of the settlement at a great cost ot her health. While she was still recovering, her squad was eradicated on Akuze. Still reeling from the pain of losing her squad and remembering her parents getting tortured and murdered at the hands of the Batarians, she let her rage take control and lost most of her squad on Torfan. The Alliance covered her involvement in Torfan up in order to keep the image of humanities hero untarnished.

And since they all happen in different years, certainly plausible.

Oddly enough, it was this similar line of thought that actually had me thinking on my cannon Shep's story that eventually churned out TSP (because the events as Sia pointed out were in different years).

No, not really. I can't stand to watch the opening movie to ME2 any more. Part of it is the latent frustration with how awfully the whole "death and resurrection" thing was handled, part of it is even more latent frustration with the very idea that they had resurrection in the first place (I don't care how much money they threw at it, it is still impossible and I cannot suspend my disbelief far enough to accept it without turning Shepard into an AI).
But mostly, it's because I can't bear to watch the Normandy die again, can't bear to watch Jessica arching and kicking in terror as she asphyxiates. >shudder< By now I don't even like to think about it. I've just reached the saturation point on the horror of that moment.

Damn! All three background in one! That's pretty cool.
I also toyed with having the Illusive Man modifying Shepard genetically while in the womb (through his agents posing as doctors.) Perhaps saving a dying!baby Shep in exchange for some control over her life. (Hence, a Sole Survivor background maybe.)
I've also toyed with Jack as a member of the Tenth Street Reds, and when Shep goes to pick her up on Purgatory, there comes a catfight of epic biotic proportions.
Also some pics:

"You can expect me to kill you the next time we meet."

"Hide behind the Council all you want. I'll still find a way to kill you."

"I'd rather drink a cup of acid after chewing on a razor blade."

See, I do this too. There's no reason that you Shepard can't be involved in multiple 'backgrounds', it's just you choose which one she's most notorious for.
Jessica had nothing to do with Akuze (although given the dialogue bug in Toombs' mission, she ought to), and her notoriety comes from her performance on Elysium and earning the Star of Terra, but she dropped on Torfan, along with all of the Alliance's other N-rated spec ops forces. They pulled out all the stops on that op, and I'm guessing N Special Forces are pretty rare, so bringing all of them in makes sense. Because of the nature of their mission, though, most of what they did was behind enemy lines and thus didn't garner the news vids.

Since my fic is /au I haven't played much ME2 since I started writing it (although I have played quite a bit ME1). I recently started up a play through for reference material for some future fic work about Kate and I found that the opening sequence affected me a lot more than it did the first few times I played ME2 after spending so many months now getting to know her.
And since I'm a glutton for punishment I took lots of screen shots of it, a few of which I uploaded to an album I made for her.

A few weeks after beginning duty again, she went as under the radar as she could and began speaking to a psychologist. To this day, only her mother and Hackett know about this. Her mother because she went to her to ask if it was a good idea, and Hackett because he's the only person in the Alliance she felt would understand, given the slightly more fleshed out backstory I've given him.

oh, sorry.

I don't know if that was intentional, or just an overlord glitch. but i cannot get over how the person on shep's right happens to look at her *ahem* every time. it *would* be garrus in my playthrough.
i can just hear the "what are you....?" "what is he....?" going on in tali's head

AAAAAHHH! my arm!
^ that's awesome.
@ rev: yeah, i'm with you. insanity is not too bad, once i figured out all the rock-paper-scissors, warp trumps this, fast-fire weapons trump that. slo mo is VERY nice for capturing quick-moving cut scenes where i want to take multiple shots from different angles. i hit slow mo, then can pause and unpause, jump in and out of flycam, and never have to go back. plus, i know what shot i'm getting, rather than guess and chance. is verry nice. i fully thank akodo and ele for helping me set that up
