I like Gwen. You don't see very many blond femsheps that look like her. Special is in the eye of the beholder I say.
I'm curious since you made her a 'cute' spacer war hero, is she basically completely baggage-free and well-adjusted? Because that is refreshing in itself.
Thanks! I wasn't fishing for compliments, but it's always nice to hear.

For her backstory, which I've been writing in dribs and drabs, I wanted to make Gwen pretty normal, but she does have baggage, like her parents divorcing when she was young, and her father's death (who died of a long illness rather than in the line of duty), which isn't as shattering as something like a Colonist background, but still shapes her worldview. The way I see her, she wanted to be normal, and didn't want to follow in her parents' footsteps by joining the military and being just like them. She wanted to make her own mark on the world in a different way, and she resented her nomadic childhood. She looked at her biotics as a burden when she was younger, but eventually saw that the best way she could help people would be by embracing what she is, and being like her parents wasn't so bad after all.
Hehe, I know Sia has mentioned Buffy Summers as an influence for Meghan in the past, and she and Kitty Pryde (who Joss Whedon cited as an influence for Buffy) are definitely influences for the way I see my Shepard. Kitty Pryde might not have the cool factor that a character like X-23 might have for a backstory, but she manages to be brave and smart and strong despite that. (LOL, comic book nerdiness showing!)
