Well, I'm going to write it here because I could get killed, but... I don't like Kaidan very much, my kind of guy is more Viggo Mortensen/Aragorn or Mel Gibson/Braveheat ... long clear disheveled hair, stubble, dirty rogue clothes

Kaidan is too well combed, too dark, no beard... but being the only possible romance with someone with a lot of muscles and no boobs, I chose him :P

Well, he's a marine.... he's got to follow appearance regs.

But anyway.... who is your Shep's favorite LI? And why? (I guess that could be our Shep Question.)

Turian Counselor.  His One-fingered air quotes are sooo sexy!  :P

In seriousness, Kaidan.  He's her rock.  She can get very depressed and has never had anyone stick around in her life very long (At least nobody who's still alive) so she really treasures her time with him.

Kasumi has never leaned on Jessica that way.  What's wrong with my copy of the game that I've never seen that before?

it seems like the kaidanites are all on right now.... including me! lol.

Kaidan. however, i sort of "designed" kyrie with the intent to do the kaidan romance.

she may be canon shep to me, but she's not default femshep in my head - not by a LONG shot. i personally think default femshep - and by that i mean, femshep as she seems to be imagined by BW and given dialog in game, seems a PERFECT fit for liara. dunno why i think that, i just do. after that, i think default femshep is a good fit for garrus. my first shep was a perfect fit for garrus.

i have still to come up with a shep that's good for thane. i know they are probably out there, but i do not know what makes them tick. same goes for jacob.

so yeah, the LI i wanted my shep to end up with was kaidan and i finally settled on a shep who imperfectly, but very sweetly, seemed to fit the profile of the kind of person who would end up with kaidan and who i thought kaidan would like back.

:bandit: that was kinda long

Started a new playthrough of Mass Effect the other day and decided I was going to restrict squad members to the same manufacturer of armour for the whole game.

The game had other ideas however and non of the shops ever had the right type of armour for the correct species, so that idea went out the window fairly quickly.

I did persist in keeping Shepard in Medium Onyx armour, but again the game decided to toy with me, resulting in me using level IV armour until Virmire, at which point a of set of level X armour finally appeared in a shop. Stupid random item system!

Well, if for LI you mean "possible lovestory" there's noone I really like, I chose Kaidan 'cause he was the only possible story in ME1, if you like males, in ME2 the first time (soldier Anastasia) I stayed faithful to Kaidan, the second time (vanguard Paola) I romanced Garrus because of his voice (I play it in italian, I'm italian, and Garrus's voice is terribly sexy).
But I hated the way Shepard approaches him, it's very vulgar, I liked Garrus's joke about "reach and flexibility" but I would have had a more romantic approach to him, not just "let's have some sex".
I like Garrus anyway, i like his kind nature, his disregard for the rules, i don't like his face too much, no lips to kiss, too many horny plates, but these are details ;)

Liara, not just favorite but only (though Garrus was a near thing).  Why?  Why, oh why.  The reasons why are as complex and dysfunctional as Jessica herself.  As much as she wants to leave Earth behind her, it still influences everything in her life, and her relationship with Liara is no exception.  I think the most interesting aspect of their relationship, though, is the sort of starry-eyed veneration with which which Jessica viewed asari in general at the time Liara expressed interest in her.  She had this idea that an all-female society was this kind of utopian ideal (never mind that they function differently than human women do).  After visiting Illium the first time, Jessica's view of the asari has been somewhat tempered by reality, but it was a major factor in her acceptance of Liara's advances in the first place.

I do agree with sagequeen, though, that Liara seems to be the expected romance, and I also agree that she seems to be a better fit for femShep than for manShep (part of it is Hale's voice acting, which is far more convincing when it comes to tender or sultry or intimate dialogue than Meer's).

You can almost see the wheels of mischief turning...

To answer the LI question: I think Damara and Kasumi would go together like spaghetti and tomato sauce. They both have the "We'll do the right thing, but let's be chaotic in our endeavour" attitude. Plus the way Kasumi always has a snarky remark at the ready is reminiscent of how I imagine Damara.

Details, details!  :P

I do agree that Shepard's tactless propositioning of Garrus is pretty darn jarring.  It sets the tone for the awkwardness of everything that follows though.  I think that's the hallmark of their romance; even though I think Garrus and femShep are a perfect match, they're still so different from each other, physically and culturally speaking, that neither one really knows how to approach a relationship with the other so they both just end up blurting things out with no tact at all (or in Garrus' case, with very poorly chosen involuntary innuendo).

Garrus. Maybe I'm just crazy, but I really love the awkwardness of their relationship and the fact that they don't make any claims to being in love with each other. I definitely think there is potential for love to grow, but that will take time. There is a definite foundation of trust and mutual trust though, which I like, and I just think Garrus and Shep match up pretty well, personality wise.

Kaidan's romance has been in the top spot before, although lately I've been leaning more toward Garrus.

RE LI question:

Kallen loves her some Ash but didn't get any on the 360 so she went after Liara instead, but since she's bi she also got into Kaidan and that wasn't a pretty sight in the debrifing room. on the PC however she got her wish and she's somewaht like Ash's foil. contradicting her, going agsinst her opinions, but Kallen loves how firey Ash gets and that's why she fell for her. However Horizon was devestating so much so that (in my mind) when Ashley walked away Kallen chased her down and they got into an actual fist fight as to where Grunt and Jacob had to pull Kallen away (well mostly Jacob, Grunt was enjoying the show. and Thus Kallen found a new flame that she knew would ****** Ash off, one Cerberus officer Miranda Lawson. While at first it was just to get Ash's pissed she started to Care about Miranda which led to them falling for each other and thus Kallen has a decision to make in ME3. Ashley or Miranda?

gah, i *wish* i could get into a garrus romance. just never did, even with the perfect shep for him. however, i think the thing that i adore about garrus is that he's always there. he's just this constant through all the madness that is the two games.

kaidan was the constant in ME1, and that's why i loved the shenko romance (and kyrie loved the "ko" - or whatever). he's just there, right from the beginning, and he never leaves your side.

while i feel like overall mass effect saga might make his *not* being there in ME2 into a beautiful thing with huge payoff later (oh please, oh please, oh please, he's not there *now* (grrrr). to me, that makes garrus the 'good guy' as far as ME2 in concerned (no offense to kaidan or liara, but they both let shep down). this is also why i don't get thane or jacob, but again, i don't think i play a shep who would find them attractive - and apparently i've never played that shep.

And that's why I'm terrorized with the idea that Garrus will die at the beginning of ME3, it's been a constant through ME1 and 2, you know, things have to change, and sometimes storytellers like breaking the heart to their audience (I remember Khalid's deaths at the beginning of Baldur's Gate II) :crying:

I hope I'm wrong :crying:

This is why Kaidan's my favorite one (well, there are other reasons; i like his personality, he's really the only remotely hunky male around...ummm IMO.)  Anyways, I'm a sucker for a good romance.  Girl gets guy, girl loses guy, they find their way to each other in the end.  They do find their way to each other in the end, right?  The fact that it's spread out over three games does make it a little crappy right now for Kaidan fans.  Ah well.

Garrus comes in a close second.  Their relationship does start off rather awkwardly, but I think it's perfect for them, and I think awkward Garrus is adorable.  I think the fact that I like Garrus as a character and I think him and Shepard fit really well together is what makes it for me though.  He's loyal and in game 2 they really made him her equal.  If I were going straight off the romance content, it's pretty lacking.  I feel like I have to read a lot more into it as a player than I do with Kaidan where it's all pretty straight forward.

Those are really my opinions though.  Which one works with a particular Shep really depends on that Shep's personality.

Teagan went for Kaidan and stayed faithful.  Why? Short answer: because she just did.  Pretty straightforward, she fell in love with his personality and looks.  Stayed faithful in ME2 even though she was frustrated cuz hey, you can't just turn those feelings off.  He also reminded her of someone special to her from her past.

Rose is the first Shep that I've felt would go for Thane.  Kaidan wasn't really her type, and being strictly by-the-book military there was no way she was going to skirt regs.  Her and Thane both have a certain seriousness of character that I think would draw her to him.

I think the killing off of Garrus would turn out very poorly for Bioware.  He is the one character that almost every subset of fans like.  He's badass for the Shooter fans, his voice slays many a female gamer, and the hardcore RPG people love his combat versatility.  The death of Garrus would not be a solid financial move for Bioware.

I'm pretty sure that's the rumor. I would play the hell out of Mass Effect shooter. Just sayin. As long as we can make female avatars. Otherwise I might boycott in disappointment. Even Halo and Rainbow 6 let you use female avatars now.

If that's the game I would have to name mine deadmeat. Because that's what she'd be. I suck at shooters.
(yes, I play on casual. and die. alot.)

Lol, this. Just this. I'm in the same boat, Scamper. Casual playthough ftw. I play RPG's for the story, and maybe a little of the gameplay, but mostly story.

Are you saying Sable  could only see it if she used flycam? Because I've seen this scene happen in youtube videos before and Kasumi still leans on Shep.

I just love what it shows about Kasumi in this scene: she's calm, confident, but also a little playful and funny.
