It's actually the opposite for me, when it comes to Mass Effect that is. Once I started to play Femshep I only made one more male shep after I made my Canon femshep. I've tweaked my existing femsheps and even made some more, but only keep one version of my Male Sheps, but I will play ME3 with my self-insert Male shep then my Army of Femsheps. xD

It is my pleasure! Besides, who in their right mind would not support a thread such as this? Its truly lovely!

And lets not be vague here - this is not just a thread. This is a series of postings from those who play - who embody (if you will) - the whole FemShep idea and persona. A game is nothing without players, and this thread is nothing without FemShephard or her fans.

While I cannot play a FemShep, I can easily appreciate the art here, not just the pics. Some of these posts are done as "Motivationals", others are simply a screenshot - but it is truly wonderful to see what each person put into this thread. Simply put - it is art.

I tried making my Shep look like me. ZOMG what a disaster! It really takes skill - I mean its not easy. I gave up after looking at my messy red hair and this face that was just..... a disaster. I dunno who that particular Shep really looks like - lets just say that I hope no one is really that ugly. It looked like a dude that got WHUPPED by the ugly stick - badly. Batarians look better - I kid you not. I just gave up on it after an hour. I wanna play, not sit there and build.... lumpy faces.

What I saw in these threads is eye opening. Truely skilled people sharing what they have made - and it is inspiring.

So yeah - not all FemShep fans are ladies, and not all FemShep supporters play FemSheps. *Scratches head* If that makes any sense.... at all.

In any event, if I have ANY say at all in how this thread goes - it will be here forever in all of its beauty.

I prefer playing female characters. FemShep is by far one of my favorite female heroines of all time.
However, I have no problem playing male characters, so long as I can develop a proper personality for them. They tend to be a bit sexist and over-the-top, mind you, but I have fun with them. (Sir Benton the Bold is by far one of my favorites. He had certain opinions about what pretty women in taverns were though...)

Anyways, Tonymac, we really do appreciate your support even if you don't play femShep. :)

That's a very good point.

The character needs to be enaging.  To be honest, there's quite a few games where the protagonist is really just a blank slate for the player's desires.

Shepard is unique in how there seems to be a way to see Shepard as you want to, and it's supported and makes sense.  For example, Renée has been a little embarassed about being in a relationship with Liara-it's the whole thing about how are non-human love interests seen "back home," and how being the Big Hero of Humanity being seen as "not enough as one of us" by the human-on-the-street would affect her.  I'm sure that plenty of pepole have come up with their own stories.

Haha. I love that picture of Kathryn. She's making this face like "Oooo, that had to hurt."

I always play a female character if I have the option.  It's just easier for me to understand their motivations and develop their characters if I can relate to them as females.  I did make one ManShep, and I actually ended up enjoying him more than I thought.  I don't relate to him in the same way as my FemSheps, though.  My FemSheps are like my darling brainchildren who I analyze and hash out, while my ManShep is just... there.  He's a cool guy but I can't get inside his head.

And now a random picture of my Sadie:

I just love her.  Comments or criticisms are appreciated!

I've played male characters as well. In fact, the canon-Exile-in-my-head from KotOR 2 is male. I liked Brianna's character arc better than Disciple's, and they never actually did anything w/Atton... *shrugs* Stupid unfinished game. (My KotOR canon is definitely female though. Bastila/sister + Carth/romance are both spectacular relationships.)
FemShep's definitely one of the best female options I've ever come across, though. I love a good female character who actually wears normal clothes and shoes and can do stuff. One of many reasons I like BioWare. They do decent female characters. (Not just the PC, either. Female NPCs are also better than average.)

If you like KotOR, then you should read http://www.fanfictio...38/1/Redemption

It's a retelling of the first game with a female character that I captivated me as much as Valhalla and Valkryie captivated me. It's.....there are no words for how much I enjoyed reading this. It's a long read, but it gets better and better as you go on. Or at least it did in my opinion.

Er.......ehehe, went a little OT there. ><

Ah! Re: Playing female characters. I prefer the female option, mostly because I like them better than male options. It's pretty awesome to see a woman be tough, and kick ass, which is why  I love female main characters in fantasy and science fiction. I just can't get into playing a guy in a video game, even though I'm a guy in RL.

Love the pic!  She has this intense look.  So much fire, so much willpower......  that is not the picture of fragile beauty.

I always play female characters as well, in my single player games and MMOs. The lone exception was in warhammer with a goblin shaman. I haven't done any maleshep playthroughs, nor do I plan to in the future.

I found my canon Shepard's facecode (I accidentally deleted her file in a haze of stupidity and thought I lost her facecode). To celebrate, some old pics of her from the Kasumi DLC

(Yes she has the Kelly hair no she doesn't look like Kelly, lmao)

Back to armor, she needed to get her visor... calibrated.

Yeah, I dunno.

EDIT: Lol, I just saw Shenzi's post after I made this one. They look similar, don't they?

Mass Effect was an anomaly for me, wherein I played a male character first and categorized that as my "canon" file. Normally it is a rarity as I have a tendency to migrate to female characters when given the option of gender. Hell I spend the majority of my writing playing female characters. In the end it is a tad ironic that having finally created my Infiltrator Femshep, I find myself questioning why the delay and have a legion of other concepts in mind. Perhaps, the most inticing is an Adept to whom I intend to party with Samara/Morinth (have yet to decide her morality) and Jack. All more tempted to make her extreme so I can say, "When Morinth is considered sane in comparison to those she follows. You know you are screwed."

Or perhaps a Sentinel with AI Hacking and Dominate. Oh... I like that. See? Too many ideas and I still am blaming Femshep!

Yuki, if I may ask. Was that the default shade of red for your Shep or a custom? I cannot seem to mod that, albeit I am limited to the 360.

Now THAT'S a good idea for FEMSHEP.COM.....How about a  weekly (or daily) "funny" FemShep caption photo?

If that was the case, I think most of us would need new keyboard every week. xD Not that we mind or not that I mind. As long as I get to see more of Jamie's comedic captions! (alliteration FTW!)
