I would agree, but I defer to the standards set by Bioware. I feel like if the squadmates can run around in implausible armor without their eyeballs freezing in their sockets, so can Shepard.

And I like being able to see my Shep's face. I spent a lot of time making her look just right, and especially on the Flotilla there's a lot of facial expressions being hid by the full helm.

I see your point completely; for me personally, since Bioware stopped caring about realism in ME2, so did I.

@ELE - seriously, if spandex, tattoos and cleavage are good enough protection for the rest of the squad then Shepard can borrow Miranda's breather mast imo :)

I only killed Wrex once because I didn't have enough Ren/Par points in the beginning, but I didn't do it, Ashley did it, I felt so bad, He survived in my next play though so I killed Ash at Vermire, Hey, she deserved it, making fun of Liara and all.

My Shepards never wear their helmets, unless it's absolutely necessary. I must be somewhat shallow and vain, as I prefer to have their face and head clearly visible. XD

I agree, I worked too hard on those faces to hide them!

My little brother always has his ManShep wear a full helmet, and I laugh myself silly watching him play because I keep imagining his voice muffled by the helmet:

NPC: Oh Shepard, thank goodness!  We need your help!
Shepard:  ::muffled response:: Mmphfhfhfmfh.
NPC: W-what?  What did you you say?
Shepard:  ::obviously shouting but still inaudible:: MMMPHMMPHMMPH!!
NPC:  Just nevermind.

I don't understand why you wear your mask/helmet on the flotilla. I get it on the Alarei, the geth don't need atmo and may have vented it.

I don't get it on the ship the trial takes place on.

As Grunt would say: "That's acceptable."

That's one thing they kinda screwed up in ME2. ME1 didn't have this problem since everyone had proper armors.

@Sialater

They got this thing with germs. It was kinda funny, because Moira brought Legion onto the Flotilla (first time I'd ever done this), and they threatened him. So, she took the Renegade prompt, threatening to take off her helmet and breathe germs all over their ship. Haha.

I liked how the generals reacted to him and the extra dialogue.  It was interesting.

I understand about the germs.  Shepard's suit isn't sterile, I'd like to point out.  It's also probably got geth fluid and the blood of various species stuck in some hard to reach creases.

And with all of them walking around in their own suits, what your team wears shouldn't be an issue.  Tali does quite fine in her suit on the Normandy, after all.

It would be great to wear helmets that showed femShep's face during cutscenes and dialogue. Of course that is dependant on the environment, but if I choose to wear a helmet in battle at say...the Dantius Towers, then the front piece should retract when Shepard is outside of battle.

I'm not a fan of skin-tight, latex suits or armor mods that look a bit too much on the glamorous or goth side. I would rather Bioware take things in a more realistic direction next game with of course more armor options.

I agree completely, Flies. I wanted to hand some of the squadmates a cape to go with their superhero costume and give them a slap on the back, "Now you're good to go!".

@Chignon. I believe a Turian took that a little too literally.

As for helmets. I refuse to do anything more than glance at those suits and since I did not preorder, I am even unable to do that. I do not spend ten hours building a face for it to be covered all game. The kissing through helmets makes the experience all the more nauseating. I will never fathom why Bioware opted for this. They had to know people would toss aside those armors. Although having Ashley hug a Collector is somewhat amusing. That is about as close to making her kiss a Turian as it gets.

That's the one reason I don't use Miranda in my squad... I do not like Samara either (seriously, Bioware, that is supposed to protect the wearer?). I bought the appearance pack just to give Jack proper clothes. :pinched:

Psychological/Emotional Profile
: Erica Shepard was orphaned at a young age and was given to foster parents at the age of three. Her foster parents were abusive and neglectful. They took in children only for the extra money they would receive through government programs. After witnessing what happened to some of the older girls within the foster home, she ran away at the age of eight. After a couple of months on the street, trying not to get killed, sold into slavery or worse, she fell in with the Tenth Street Reds. The Reds took her in, fed her and made her one of their own. At the age of ten she was given the duties of a courier. In that job she learned to be fast and resourceful. At the age of 13 she was captured by a rival Turian gang member. Erica killed him. Within the gang, Erica found a love for the excitement of the fight, an almost narcotic dependency on her own adrenaline rush. By the age of 16 she was one of the Tenth Street Reds top soldiers doing whatever it took to survive; however she ultimately saw no future for her in the gang. Thought the Reds had saved her, she knew she had to get out or end up dead. At the age of 18 she enlisted in the Alliance Marines and never looked back.
The slums of Earth taught Shepard how to endure. The gangs taught her how to survive. The Alliance Marines taught her discipline. With those attributes and her own love of battle, she quickly became a fearsome warrior, always first to charge, always getting the job done. Torfan was no exception. At the cost of many lives, Shepard eradicated the Batarians from the small moon. She had no regrets.

Personality: Erica would be an adrenaline junkie were it not for the discipline she received in the Alliance Marines. She knows when to use it and when to rein it in. Keeping herself on an even keel is a demanding task and gives her a cold outward persona. Contrary to what has been said about her, she does not consider herself ruthless. She is practical. She’ll get the job done no matter what, but her ultimate goal is to save as many people as possible. Sometimes that means sacrificing others to do it. She has an enormous dislike for Cerberus, but recognizes they are the only ones fighting the Collectors and thus cuts them a little more slack than would be the norm. She is strict with her crew, but knows when to temper her discipline with kindness. However, nothing gets in the way of the mission.

Romance
: Tried out Jacob and it was a good fit, maybe too good a fit. She dumped Jacob when things became too serious. Ultimately fell for Thane, wouldn’t call it love, but a need for comfort and companionship.

Why Shepard and her LI are such a great match: Thane and Erica are a lot alike. The do what needs to be done and make no apologies. They are both soldiers who value loyalty and honor and understand that life is often too short. Erica has commitment issues and so Thane offers her the best of both worlds, commitment with an expiration date.

Best Friends: Erica is on the mission to win a war, not friends, however, she has a soft spot for both Tali and Liara. She respects both Jacob and Miranda. The closet thing she has too a best friend, someone she genuinely feels kinship with, is Samara. Unfortunately, Samara’s code makes having a friendship with her post mission impossible.

Three fun facts
:
1. Shepard is an active Skyball player, when she gets the chance.
2. Though she finds him repulsive as a human being, Erica does think of the Illusive Man as being rather handsome.
3. Erica cheats at poker.

I seem to recall Tali telling the Flotilla on approach that their ship wasn't clean and they wanted a quarantine team to meet them.  It's possible they could have been decontaminated by said team before entering the Rayya.  That ship is also huge.  They'd probably like to keep it sterile in case of an emergency, I don't know.

Anyway, I was just trying to add some levity.  I know ME2 does a lot of things that aren't realistic, that's obvious.

I never use the helmets unless it's a forced situation. I want to see my Shepard's face when she's talking to someone.

I've never hacked the armour setup to use non standard pieces so if the helmet is required on a certain level it doesn't bother me, I'll just put up with it. I never use a helmet voluntarily though I won't even use the +10% headshot visor, and that only covers up a small part of Shep's face.

Sorry.  It's just REALLY annoying.  My husband's a biologist and he laughs every time his Shep shows up on the flotilla in a mask.

Damn, I missed one hell of a conversation. xD Something about Tali, the Flotilla, and Shep's masks/helmets? I don't even know....

@sage: Excellent screens once again. You never cease to amaze me. ;)

@Jamie: I really like Erica, her facial structure looks nice and natural and oh so pretty!

Edit: Squadmate outfits: I RP that when not exposed to the vaccum of space, the squadmates have high tech, extra strength shields/barriers that keep them safe. It's the only plausible explanation I can come up with.
