Well, there is some obvious common ground there. But I think the Renegade Smile is more along the lines of...

I found this one of Liz in my screenshots folder last night.   She doesn't look particularly look intimidating here.  More like she's posing for a fashion magazine.  She even looks like she's been airbrushed.

I thought Cecily was beautiful before, but she looks smokin' now.

@Skyline

And yeah, one does need to suspend belief in order to play this game.  There are many things that bother me, that I attribute to miraculous new technology making such a thing possible.  Or I just try to put it from my mind.

Or maybe FemShep is just so awesome the laws of gravity, biology and space don't apply to her.

i remember reading some post somewhere where this guy (i assume a guy, how sexist is that?) was saying that he couldn't play as femshep because 'It's too unbelievable that a girl could really do all that stuff."

i was like... wtf? NO ONE could do what shep does. that's why it's a video game and we're safely on the other side of the screen with a quick-save key and a cup of cocoa. or i am anyway.

this is another reason i love femshep. inspiring heroism (or badassism) for us all, regardless of how realistic or unrealistic it is.

I completely agree! FemShep really makes me feel empowered. That's why she's my absolute favorite.

You have also inspired me to go make hot chocolate. I like the way you think!

While in his time with the Corsairs as well as Shepard's crew, Jacob Taylor trained himself to sleep standing up, if only to avoid the info dump conversations Shepard seems to enjoy so much.

Yes, that's a really stupid argument.  If this person thinks that,  then turians, asari, quarians, the mass relays...etc are also "unbelievable."  Methinks they are the sexist ones and they need to:

yeah. i guess it really hit it home to me that our culture will suspend belief very easily if a man is running around as an action hero a la james bond, batman, etc., and in spite of how unrealistic it is (i do so love myth busters), we buy it in movies. but if you put a woman in the same role, it strains credulity? very odd. but again, that's why i like seeing femshep do her thing. for the unrealistic parts, i go *shrug* it's a video game. for the realistic parts, where she acts like an actual human struggling to pull off a crazy goal against terrible odds, i cheer.

again, it's hilarious to me how bioware has created this female hero on par with ripley, leia, charlie's angels, etc. and yet hardly anyone knows about her. ah well, why we're here, right? to give her the attention she deserves.

One of the reasons I fancy playing Femshep or female characters period. Allows this to happen...

Random person : "Hey, girls can't do that!"
Me: *baps on the head* "Now watch the TV"

Comments like that remind me of Halo 2 and when online gaming just came out. Lots of those remarks were spwed around. At least until some of those kids came across some of those girl clans and were destroyed. I knew one only sniped... below the belt, just for added hilarity.

Now if you will excuse me. I have some Femshep hell to unleash on mercs and Krogans. So I need my Monster to keep me alert. :D

Well said.  Yeah, it's sad that most people don't know of her existence.  I'm sure there are tons of people out there who would jump at the chance of checking out her adventures but aren't used to a controller or mouse.  I'm pretty sure if her story was in movie or tv form, she would be hugely popular.

Which is where (sigh) Sheploo comes in.  Unfortunately for all of us, he happens to be the face of ME to the rest of the world, and nothing is really gonna change that at this point...<_<

Thing is, if Femshep was a lead in a movie. She would end up fanserviced to the max. Just look at Resident Evil or Underworld. Not even Femshep could escape being Hollywood'd. So maybe Sheploo having the limelight is for the best.

Oh you've no idea how AWESOME that would be. Sadly, that would take away from the RPG aspect (obviously,) but still. I'd be about in love with a show like that as I still am with Buffy the Vampire Slayer.....which is to say, a lot.

But yeah, I think I'm perhaps the male only gamer I know of in my circle of friends who plays as a woman because  I find it to be more interesting that playing as a man.

I always gravitate towards female customizable characters....although I consider the Exile from KOTOR II to be male, but I also consider Revan female....so yeah.

Oh, and OT, but isn't the canon Revan male, but canon Exile female?

I get odd looks from my cousins when I fire up my 360.

One of them was like...."You play as a girl?"

"Yes? I like playing as a girl. Your point?"

And I said I consider Revan and the Exile to be the opposite of thier canon genders, same way I like my Shepard to be a woman. It's all preference to me!

Yeah. FemShep is the kind of female protagonist most media should embrace :[ A capable, kickass woman with a gun that isn't also played up as some hyper-sexualized fetish character? Yes, por favor!

Finally downloaded the Firepower pack using leftover BW points (it never rounds perfectly, gah!) and checking out the gun made me think I should probably look into that flycam thing so I can get combat screenshots without all the squiggly orange crap they like to add xD

The Firepower pack looks so cool. I'm all for new ways for killing things and I'm sure Jack, and Grunt wouldn't mind some new shotties or pistols.

Sorry, but a little OT: Why is it that Soldiers always seem to choose Slam as a bonus power? I've never understood it.

I think what I love the most about playing FemShep is the fact she isn't over-sexualized. Almost every game I can think of with a lead female character (besides some RPGs) put her in some skimpy outfit. Or, in the end, she has to rely on someone else to save the day.

I know some people complain, but I like how FemShep has this tomboyish charm. She acts like a toughened soldier, her mannerisms aren't girly and she doesn't take crap from anyone. She has this air that commands respect. I just love it.
