Ah, I see! Still, I look forward to reading your work, because I love the way you write. Love all of the femShep fanfic writers here or fanvid creators. You're all so wonderful. Image IPB

@Sable

I'm really used to seeing a lot of "true feminism" views as you call it, so I just never consider these women who say they're feminist (people just call them fem****s behind their back anyway), actually feminists.
About the gender differences, I don't really like getting into it too much because gender is just not binary, neither is sex, and that's a whole new can of worms.

I guess if I had just realized some pages back that feminism to me is what you call "true feminism", that would've avoided a lot of confusion.
Though I wasn't offended at all and truly hope no one was either. And I think I reflect my own language barriers on what some people say, so sorry about confusions again =/
*Edit: oh and how, by the way, femismo is a neology for machismo. I don't know why I wrote femism and not femismo.  ._.'
I don't know how widespread the word is, just that I see its use in places I look.

Whiiich is why I said no one agrees on it XD

I'm just saying I actually agree with some of Sable's opinion and rectifying the misunderstandings. Just the part about what we understood was each one's opinion. Ugh, English fails me again.

I've been out most of the day so can't even keep up with the hustle and bustle of this thread.  I'm very nervous about the VGA announcement tonight as well as if Hale will win.  I guess it won't hurt to post the link.

the direct link it will take you to a page that says 'ok'.  Apparently,
that means your vote is counted.  Thanks.

Adding some of my "iconic" femShep screens to this thread.

I don't think it gets more iconic than this

I love this one. What does she see in the mirror, I wonder?

What I like most about this is that Samara and Jack are like the angel and devil on the shoulders. Vev is such a paragade.

Finally got a decent screenshot of Caryn Shepard, with her new ME2 hair and darkened skin tone and eye color:

Paragon who still won't hesitate to push the really rotten bad guys out a window if they ****** her off, and romancer of Liara T'Soni.

Note that I picked armor tints to fit her hair and eye colors.

So far, I would guess this would suffice...

She was a Vanguard in ME1 too, though with the sniper rifle training as a bonus talent. I think I'm sticking to Infiltrators for now.

Some not-so iconic ones too:

Quite frankly, the only equals to femShep we've seen are in film, which, for a video game character, is an incredible accomplishment.

Actually, I've seen more than a few in written works. Bujold's novels, David Weber's Honor Harrington series. All have strong female characters of varying talents and abilities. (Actually, the Honorverse is chock full of them.)

I haven't had much chance to watch the newest Doctor Who episodes, but a few clips of River Song I've seen have been rather impressive. (The part where a Dalek starts begging for mercy when it realizes who she is. Yes. A Dalek.)

But was it intentional?  I think not.  I doubt BW put that much thought into femshep and inadvertently created a credible female heroine.  She may have been, as some suspect, an afterthought.  And don’t knock afterthoughts.  The ending to the Planet of the Apes where Chuck Heston finds the Statue of Liberty was a last minute addition to the film.

That's the best way to do it. Don't bother trying to make a "statement" or whatever. Just create a character that people like.

ETA: Hmph. I've inadvertently posted three articles in a row. I think I'll stay quiet for awhile.

Last bit. Lame attempt at comedy.

I'm generally pretty cynical about video game journalism, but N'Gai Croal is always thought provoking and interesting.  It's awesome that he acknowledges this issue.

Indeed. As far as I'm concerned, the greater amount of attention brought to this issue, the better. FemShep is in dire need of some form of exposure, and I think it's such a travesty that she's ignored in the series' marketing and promotional material.

Here, thread. Have a FemShep.
