Hey, I just remembered that there's already a speculation forum for "Big Ben", as he's so wittingly nicknamed by the fans. It's amusing to watch fans theorize about what his role is going to be. 

Currently? I'm one way or the other: he could just be a narrator helping the audience give the gamers perspective or he could be a new LI or squadmate. I'll just have to wait and see.

Predictably, it is Sheploo in the trailer, but what the hell. It's not like I didn't expect it.
That pan-out where we see London being torn apart by the Reapers... I got chills.

Indeed.  I'm already loving the guy and we know next to nothing about him.  Never discount the tenacity of a fangirl (or guy) to attach themself based upon the slimmest and most superficial of material

Even if he's not in the squad - its like this is why Shepard wants to save humanity. Because some are awesome like the BSG. Not every human can be Shepard, but humans sure aren't about to roll over a die. That woman runs back to save someone else - a child? Is it her child? And a nameless sniper headshots the husk so that they might escape.  i do hope he survives long enough for Shepard to shake his hand.

The talk about 'Big Ben' being a squad mate makes me think. I wonder how many new characters FemShep will have available to fight by her side? I've grown so attached to a lot of the ones in ME2, I'd be sad if they were sidelined.

I agree with you. I would like to finish the game with Tali and Garrus then also have Jack, Kasumi, and all the others by my FemSheps' side. To qoute her...
"If this a war, I'll need an army or a really good team."
She's right. But if the game is done a certain way, she'll have many armies AND a really good team.

I think there's a great chance to see a lot of them (if they survived) when you need to rally the other races. Shepard could need their help to do so.

Judging by the transition from ME to ME2, i'd say that none of the ME2 squad members are gonna be squad members in ME3 cause they all can die in ME2.

I too enjoyed the movie snip.  Seeing reapers reaping is some really cool stuff.  As soon as you see it go go down, you want to be there - in the action, playing a game of wreckhouse on some reapers.

As for our hero Big Ben Nigel, I certainly want to see him survive.  Stuck in a tower, nothing to do but hold on, helping humanity all he can, wounded - seeing the whole world coming to an end, yet making a stand regardless....  The stuff of legends.

I have this weird feeling that it'll go by fast. Don't ask me why, I just do?

I'm actually very interested in seeing how our Shepard's stories will finish. While I'd love to see Cam and Liara have a happily ever after, I'm also curious to see how the Kaidan-mancers stories come to a finish, given the different situations Shepard could be in. (A sort of resolved romance vs. one that left people heartbroken to go through Horizon when doing another playthrough.)

 Wow... Last night was Mass Effect night for me.  I beat ME2 (again) and ME3 was announced.  I have to say though, I do think Big Ben would be a welcome addition to my squad.  We're down a sniper as Thane didn't make it...



His coffee cup looks so lonely now...
