You're not the only one who feels this way, Calla. (thx for the banner btw.)Calla S wrote...
Adneate, if you were going to slag him off (even in good humor), you might've at least done it with a base of your own making. I made those for people who would actually like having him around.

Made this for my femShep who's going through both games without an LI.

Personally, I fail to see how being female automatically makes a character more compelling. We would still know next to nothing about random-sniper if they had a vagina. It would have been a good trailer either way, in my opinion. Sometimes a trailer is just a trailer.
And a tolls a toll. And if we don't get no tolls, we don't get no rolls...whatever.I agree with you; I don't see how adding a female character to a trailer with the same exact dialogue and action would make her any more interesting. She'd still be a no-name soldier. The fact that Big Ben's a guy doesn't make the fact that he's been holed up for days (by the looks of the medigel), picking off people on the ground, while a Reaper fleet rolls into London.
Also, I love your Men in Tights reference. Made my day.
I mean, I do understand why people feel like the white male marine character is overdone. But I think it's a disservice to automatically discount something because it fits into this trope.
Wanting more female representation is a bigger issue than that trailer, it's a bigger issue than Mass Effect. Hell, it's a bigger issue than the gaming industry. Which is why I feel like it's kind of silly to single out just one trailer like they have some kind of agenda (I know ryn's initial post wasn't in this spirit, but the topic kind of went that way.)
I do hope femshep gets more representation somewhere...but for me it's not a woman's empowerment issue I guess is what I'm trying to say. Not really trying to start an argument, but I was starting to feel like we were veering away from 'support femshep' and more towards 'anti-human white male' territory.
"I should go."
