I was just thinking how well trailer with femShep hopping around hand to hand with Garrus on a meadow would have... never mind. You get the picture. ;)

Thanks for the comments guys and gals.

I also meant to post an alternate version without my femshep link

Steal it, use it, stick your own femshep in it...

I posted a folder of decent quality screen grabs from the trailer as well for y'all to use album link
- I also went ahead an included the view of earth burning with Sheploo already removed from the shot here

Done. ^_^

Ashley or Kaidan DLC, please. I'm desperate to have their respective character arcs resolved, and my Shepards wish to reconcile the friendships with some of their closest companions.

Your both right, existing charecter development is far more important then the introduction of any new charecter.  Having said that I really like the look of the new guy in the trailer, people will always jump on the bandwagon so to speak when someone new is introduced. Little is known about them which causes people to guess and speculate creating a atmosphere of anticipation.   It cant be helped.

Normally im not on to jump on the bandwagon on anyone new, but from the brief glimpse I've seen of him, I actually quite like the look of this guy.  So much so I already created a pedestal for him which he can sit on till Bioware destroy my over-hyped speculation Image IPB

I wrote a post similar to this one on the main forum, but seeing this is the official FemShep fan thread, I just wanted to bring this to you rattention.

Jennifer Hale, whom we all know as the real life Commander Shepard (female), was nominated but did not win a Video Game Award, right?  But with Mass Effect 3 on the way, let me suggest this. Please go to  her Facebook and write a few kind words to her.  A few of us have already started the ball rolling there.  She's a professional, but a little motivation may be helpful.

Even Ali Hillis as Liara T'soni said, "I just like to 'play' Commander Shepard."  So go to Jennifer Hale's Facebook and leave a message right now, before you close out this thread!  This is NOT a Mass Effect 2 vs. Starcraft 2 debate, nor a Mark Meer vs. Jennifer Hale flamestorm.  This is just a nice thing to do.

Let's have a gentleman's/gentlewoman's agreement.  You say something nice to Jennifer Hale, you can take this wallpaper I whipped up of Commander Shepard over the ruins of London.

Image IPB
http://3z2nyq.bay.li... see.png?psid=1

You know the one thing I like about this when I made it?  This scene could take place at the beginning of the Mass Effect 3 as seen in the debut trailer OR at the end after a Pyrrhic victory (we won but at what cost).  This song kept looping in my head when I made it:

When the stars threw down their spears,
And watered heaven with their tears,
Did He Smile His work to see?
Did He who made the lamb make thee?

I think that's very fitting for the latter half of the Mass Effect 3 trailer.  Don't forget to visit Jennifer Hale's Facebook before you close this tab.

I haven't really seen anyone saying they don't care what happens to the other characters over nameless sniper. If you throw something new and shiny at people, especially when they get to play detective over it, they'll pay attention to it. I don't necessarily think they're forgetting or don't care anymore about the other characters. A sniper guy with no name isn't replacing anyone, especially when we have no idea how, or IF he'll even fit into the story. Even moreso because we don't know what lies ahead in terms of DLC or what/who will be included in ME3. I dunno, I think everyone's being a bit too cynical and... yeah.

I think the ultimate worry is that the other characters will get less dev due to all the new shinies.  It happened in ME2 to the ME1 characters.  I'd especially be wary and a little miffed if I was a Kaidanmancer, especially with all the requests for this guy to be an LI and squad mate, considering Kaidan's ME1 romance still hasn't been resolved yet.

Personally, I'm completely apathetic to this guy and doubt he will ever be seen again outside of this trailer, but I can see how some might be put off from the reaction to him.

That's not what I'm saying, though. I just think that the likes of Casey Hudson will feel vindicated in neglecting old characters that people love, in favour of throwing in a bunch of new ones, due to reaction to this one unnamed male sniper. Demands that he become a squadmate and love interest, all from one twenty second trailer? Of course the developers are then going to throw a bunch of new characters at us, because people seem to jump on the bandwagon of falling in love with the latest flavour of the month.

Prior to ME2's release, Ashley, Kaidan and Liara fans were told to forget about them, and focus on the new love interests because they're "compelling". Given the response to this sniper, don't you think they're going to feel somewhat justified in adopting this attitude?

I understand that there are worries and I do share them but I dunno. It's a bit disconcerting to go into every thread and there is just so much negativity. It's not like I am saying there shouldn't be, or I don't want a VS DLC, just that interest in a new thing isn't necessarily going to kill interest in an old one. There ARE people interested in both, and it's kind of off-putting :/ Whether or not BioWare responds to the interest... until ME3 and all DLC are over and done with and I've played them, I'll choose to remain optimistic.

In my case, what I did was I posted a Comment to a message by a Susanne Chan.

But at the top, you can choose to Share a number of things, including a Post (or Photo, Link, Video).  I think that should work.  I'd try it, but I just don't want to spam her.  Facebook has definitely changed since when I joined.

And this.

I bear no ill-will to shiny-new-sniper-toy-man. I think a hot human Brit sniper is a brilliant LI.

I don't object to people liking him.
I don't object to him being an LI.
I don't object to him being cool, in the game, his speculation forums, whatever. He does seem cool.

What I object to is that in the past, BW seems to use people's completely "ooh, new and shiny!" reaction to anything new and shiny as a justification for upping gameplay over story development, dropping old characters for new ones, giving older, beloved characters frankly horrible cameos (liara's was worse than the VS imo in ME2) and leaving fans for ages with no news whatsoever about what they can expect for their favorite characters in the future.

The attitude has been "This will be really compelling because it's new." <-- not because it's actually good or compelling. and generally, they have been totally justified in doing so, i guess, because that's what fans think and that's where the money comes from.

Anyhow. I also think it's a little silly that snipe guy gets all the interest and femshep will never see a trailer.

Oh well. It's all about stopping the reapers, right?  Speaking of which, I still haven't figured out my last two "canon" decisions for kyrie: geth base and collector base. I'd better decide soon, 'cause they're up very shortly. That trailer does make a tempting argument for keeping the base. Is that metagaming, though? lol

I'm not saying I disagree with you, it just gets frustrating because some people *did* find the new characters and LI just as compelling and likable as the old ones and sometimes it feels like those that do are being put down for it. I want both the new and the old and I hope BioWare delivers. That is all.

i hear that. and let me clarify. i have no problem with people liking what they like and wanting to see it in the final game - whatever they liked. some people never connected with any LI to date and feel that big ben might be the character they were looking for - also awesome. i hope he is for them.

what i am complaining about, i guess, is that BW sometimes seems to bring out shiny new toys instead of delivering on their already existing toys or fixing what seem to be broken toys.

for example, ME2's plot, essentially, did NOTHING to further the story of shepard and her fight against the reapers. people don't believe her about the reapers, she assembles a team, makes sacrifices, and gets the job done. i saw this before, with less flash, and it was called mass effect. i loved me2, don't get me wrong, but storywise, it delivered notihng new. it was flash over substance. BW is much better than most studios, but when hype like this goes around, it makes me worry that it will justify their thinking in making just hyping new stuff instead of carefully crafting a story that does justice to all the threads they started.

but eh, what am i saying. it's a video game. BW often raises my expectations ridiculously high and dashes them just as often. whatevers, ya know?

It really isn't all that new to have people wanting every character to be a LI.  It's just something that happens.  AND it makes for some AWESOME pics. :wizard:

I'm de-lurking after reading the past several pages to put in my thoughts.

1. The DLC issue - If ASh/Kaidan were going to play a big part in ME3, would they have put out a DLC?  I don't think so.  Therefore, I would take the lack of a DLC as a good sign.  Not to meniton that the DLCs aren't done yet.

2. The "new" LI issue - Practically everyone in ME2 was a love interest.  I like to think that this was on purpose.  They were practically baiting us to cheat on the ME1 LI.  Why would they do this?  There is predictably huge drama coming in ME3 surrounding the LIs in both games, depending on your actions.  Giving up hope on any further LI development seems to be a bit premature.  Especially based on seeing one guy in a short teaser trailer.

3.

Right, so... if ME3 sidelines the ME2 characters to two-minute cameos (there are a lot of them, after all) and emails and introduces an entirely new squad, up to and including generic sniper dude, you guys would be fine with it?

Because this hypothetical new group could be the most compelling characters of Mass Effect yet.  But that doesn't justify tossing aside what's already on the table, which is what ME2 did to the ME1 characters on the justification of, "you only liked them because you were meeting them for the first time, and you'll enjoy meeting new characters more than you would have enjoyed spending time with the old ones."

From what I can see, right now both ME1 and ME2 characters' fans are in the same boat, for better or for worse.

I see your point but me3 is pretty much War and war is big guns and explosions and we're gonna need some big guns to kill more reapers than we have in the past 2 games combined especially since they're attacking the human homeworld. I'm sure that since they have a year there'll be some great stuff plot wise there'll be some politics added in, the final steps to characters development and some aweseom twists thrown in. I'm still going by my Theory that amss effect 3 will have 3 discs since ME1 had 1 and Me2 had 2.Image IPB

Excuse me if I sound rude now, but: What on earth did you expect?! ME3 will be the closing chapter of the trilogy, if there wouldn't be loads of wild shoosting I'd be disappointed.:bandit:
However, ME2 should have been (more) about "fem[/man]Shep's true story-based development brought to a close". After all every single ME2 squaddy got their closure before the final mission (if you chose to grant it to them, that is;)) whereas Shepard got left behind.
