Sometimes it would make my life so much easier to have just one FemShep.

I have 8 atm and I have all their backgrounds, history and stuff stuffed in my head. Makes it really cramped in there from time to time.

Edit: Top of the page pic. My renegade Lise.

Yeah, mine don't look alike or are the same classes or romance the same people or are even the same alignment, so aside from the voices it's fairly easy after a bit of practice. It took me a few tries before I could accept another and even then if I close my eyes I picture my canon when I think of "Shepard"

I am a character creation junkie, but I've finished Mass Effect 2 three times...with one character, Gwen Shepard.  I've gotten up to Horizon and slightly past it with other characters, but for some reason I hit a block before the Derelict Reaper/IFF missions.  Maybe because I always mean to kill off some party members with "non-canon" Shepards, but when it comes to actually playing, I can't really do it?  Image IPB

But really, when it comes down to it, Gwen Shepard knows she's the only *real* Shepard.  Image IPB

"Other Shepards?  What???"

As for mementos, Gwen Shepard had a book that she always carried with her, that was her favorite as a child, and when her father was dying, she read it to him many times.  The book went down with the original Normandy, but she remembers it very well, and she carries it with her that way.  Her mother may still have other things of hers, but they're not as valuable to her as that book. That was one of the reasons she loves Kasumi, she too values old fashioned, real books.

Thanks for the interesting responses, guys. Appreciated! :D

I do love how Shepard's background choices are pre-defined, yet left sufficiently vague and ambiguous to allow some flexibility in shaping the past of each player's Shepard.

It actually takes a small period of adjustment when I first switch the Sheps and hear Hale's voice.  But then, I imagine I can hear a faint Texas twang she's fighting in Meghan's voice.  And a hint of the shortened, distorted vowels of an upper Midwestern farm girl for Avery's voice.  Rachel is from Mexico City.  She's fought most of her life to get that Mexican sound out of her voice.

But after they talk to Chakwas and Pressly, their voices are their own.

Really? Because that drives me nuts.

Like I said before, both my Femsheps have the exact same fecial features. Only thing different is the hair, and maybe makup. Otherwise I can't stand it because I'm so used to my other Shepard.

Hell, I had a hard time transitioning from Male to Female.

...I probably could have worded that better.

I think what also helps me when playing all my different FemSheps is that they have distinct personalities. I usually have a concept when I start playing them. This helps me make appropriate decisions in-game and once I've gotten past the initial weirdness I start to have a lot of fun.

Example:
When I created Moira, I knew she was going to be a Renegade. I wasn't overly thrilled about playing her, because I tend to be more fond of Paragon choices. Once I got further in, getting to know her and making her video... I started really enjoying myself. Since then she's become one of my favorite FemSheps.

I agree with Sage.  I've never been able to bypass Kaidan's romance in ME1 and all my Shep's stayed faithful.  I made a fresh ME2 game so that I could romance one of the LIs but found myself not interested in any of the romances and that Shep going into ME3 single.

Hello, fellow boring one-Shepper.  :P

I can't really play the game with Hale's voice coming out of anyone but Jessica's mouth, though I've tried.

Jessica had a crappy little knife with a four-inch blade that she picked up in her youth on Earth.  She carried it everywhere, even strapped to the ankle of her hardsuit once she was in the Alliance.  It was old and cheap and saved her life multiple times over.  It was her lucky charm, her soldier's superstition.  She somehow lost it just before the SR1 was destroyed.  So, on one of her visits to the Citadel, she got an image of it tattooed over the spot on her ankle where it was supposed to go.  Not as utilitarian, but at least she won't lose her talisman now unless she loses a leg with it.

Its weird, but I've never really been disconcerted by Hale's voice coming out of anyone else. What is hard for me though is making a Renegade character. Each time I try and start one, I just cannot bring myself to actually be a renegade.

For me it ended up the opposite way. I romanced Kaidan my first go because I wanted to see his romance, not because it felt right for my character. I really liked it, but it was kind of wrong for her. I went back and redid her game and found him surprisingly easy to resist and easy to stay single in ME1 (since I already have my Liara Shep and I only have one character per LI). I still do have another Shepard just for him, though.

it saddens me to see the VS with such low popularity, it must pain femshep too.

i think it must.

*sad Kyrie snip*

however, the upside is that if only they release a VS DLC or VS stuff for ME3 in which the VS stomps on baddies looking awesome, i think that would help things. liara had rather lowish popularity before LotSB and look what that DLC did for her. new shineys work both ways.

@ AD: i love that kallen loves miri. miri is so awesome and i like to see her happy (esp. with someone other than sheploo - )

that's wht I'm hoping for the VS cuz now all we have is them being a jerk to shep then apologizingif we romanced them, that really sucks.

haha I'm glad I got the pc version. I always figured on my first play through that Miranda would have been the Liara type LI since she rebuilds shep either way but I was sadly mistaen on 360 kallens' first play through now she gets her woman. although PC Kallen didn't romance  Liara so she's gonan get the sad ending to LoTSB.Image IPB

It's really rather interesting, actually.  I initially started Mass Effect back in February of this year after a friend recommended it.  I still have my horribly ugly MShep on my Xbox that romanced Ashley, but the next time through I used a Femshep.  I have, as of last count, finished ME twice and ME2 four times, each one with a different Shepard.  Fortunately, after my second run I discovered the pure unfiltered awesome that is Jen Hale, and all three since Ugly MaleShep have been Femsheps.
Sam, however, is something new entirely.  I initially started it in an effort to make a really nice-looking Shep, but then story ideas started flowing and I now have 27 pages of 11-point characterization for her.
As for any future characters, I would tend to say I probably won't with all the resources I have poured into her.^_^

Same. I can't resist Kaidan. The only way I could have a single Shep was to create a new one in ME2 just in case Joker is available in ME3. It will probably still be hard to separate my feelings when both of them are on the Normandy.

I'm in the same boat.

Which is why Cam's mostly paragade for me. She's good MOST of the time, but she won't go around mudering people just because she can or that because she's a Spectre.

Some of the renegade responses in ME2 I really like, because they're not just 'evil/hardass responses.

Example:

*Cam walks up to Seryna, an asari from Thane's recruitment mission.*

Cam: Seryna?

Seryna: Who wants to know?

Cam: *crossing her arms* Someone who can make your life a living hell.

I'm odd in that I can finish ME1 with different Shepards, but then when I import them into ME2, I lose interest around Horizon. I've now decided to go back and replay ME2 with my canon, Rachel and it's going well.

So technically, for ME3, I only have one Shepard to import that finished ME2.

Another character creator junkie here--like that wasn't obvious.  But I usually only keep one around at a time. I only had one character to transfer when ME2 came out.  Right now I have 2 that will go into ME3.  I've gotten used to having multiple Sheps, I just have to get it straight in my head before playing and I definitely don't switch back and forth mid game--too confusing.
So many femsheps, different faces, backgrounds, and classes.  I had fun playing the game with them and trying different things, some got scrapped early b/c I didn't like them and some made it all the way through.  Quite a few felt off as you say, but it was still fun playing different ways to see what would happen.  I usually end up deleting them though if I don't like them enough to want to transfer over.

So I used to have 1 canon.  Now I have 2.  Can you have 2 canons?  Eh, semantics.  They're both equally official for me, and distinct enough that the story feels very different between them.  I've gotten used to Jen Hale's voice coming from both of them.  Now that ME3 and (hopefully) some bridging DLC is getting closer I'm planning on sticking with my 2 current ladies.  I think I've tried everything in the game and have maxed out on character creation.  Time to have my official saves ready to go.

Still debating whether or not my true renegade should keep the base though.  She saved the council in ME1, but literally everyone else is dead or destroyed.  I feel like I'm going to need some ammo to fight the Reapers.

Irony being Vera evolved out of Rose, who was supposed to be my super paragon to contrast with Teagan who's a renegon.  But she ended up becoming this super renegade character in my head b/c of the colonist ruthless background, so she makes Teagan look like a goody goody in comparison.

Also ironic, Rose started out the most modded character ever and evolved into Vera, who I'm currently in love with character wise, and she is totally vanilla--zero mods.  I did tone down her blush on import.  It was frightening.

Image IPB

...

On keepsakes:
Vera has no physical objects with sentimental value.  She got rescued from Mindoir with only the clothes on her back--everything else was destroyed, house burned to the ground.  I don't feel like she's very sentimental--or at least she doesn't put much stock in physical items.  She has what she needs, and that's it.  Everything can be taken away she figures so she carries what's important to her on the inside.

Eeee. Sorry for the novel [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/blushing.png[/smilie]

I had just one for a long time, then I made Eric, a Renegon and the dialogue choices I made for her were different enough that I could seperate the two.  However, whenever I tried to play a Pargon or Paragade, it was like you said, it just felt strange.

I agree with the sentiment that Paragon and Renegade Shepard feel like two distinct and seperate characters.

Problem is, I'm almost incapable of playing a Renegade Shepard.
