After writing that short fic last night and pondering it a bit, I'm left wondering what it is between Shepard and Garrus.
Just about everything I've read has at least one of them pining for the other, but not every Shepard romances him...
Food for thought?

Just as a rule ot thumb... I HATE the whole "pining for Shepard" crap (no offense to anyone who feels differently).  It doesn't even cross Garrus' mind on a conscious level until after Shepard propositions him.

Garrus is NOT pining for Meghan.

well, hate to disagree with sia (cause you know i love your fic), but based on the voice acting, i did suspect a garrus-for-shep a crush in ME1 - mostly the response to the dr. hart mission. certain lines around recruitment mission also sounded like innuendos to me. but as femshep initiates the actual romance, i either take it that garrus would never in a million years let it really enter into his head until she says something OR you have to do a major "yes he had a crush and this is how it played out in my head-canon" thing. 

this is unlike the thane-mance or jacob-mance, where i do not find there to be interest unless i'm thinking the femshep has interest also. with garrus, i feel like interest is there, even if unspoken, no matter the shep. that is me reading into keener's lines though, probably.

my take, anyhow. how i justified my treatment of it in my fanfic.

I think they both have immense respect for each other, and I don't like reading fics where Garrus especially has feelings for her from ME1. One of the reasons why I love the Garrus romance so much is because they started off as friends and then became something more. Honestly, I don't like the way the romance start in the second game. I prefer to believe that the friendship turned into something more slowly, rather than having Shepard suggest something and then it occurs to Garrus.

What I noticed in ME1 was the crush Tali has on Shepard. And to me it felt like a mutual attraction.
On the Garrus-Shepard-thing I pretty much agree with Sialater [and Aeowyn].

I think it's very possible Garrus could have feelings for Shepard, but not necessarily share them. He could very well think Shepard is out of his league. Once things get going, though, it seems like he really does have feelings for her. Some of his lines are very sweet.

Now... I didn't say it was conscious....   Denial ain't just a river in Egypt.  It's apparently sitting in the main battery, at least in Meghan's game.

BUT, some of Keener's lines do come off as flirty, even if he says the exact same thing to MaleShep.  (I had to get you moving.  Some women find scars attractive. Most of those women are krogan.  The entire reach and flexibility convo until Shep makes her move.)

Garrus never had a crush on Avery, though. 

How he felt about Meghan, well...  That's why I'm writing Loved.

But in my head-canon, I also imagine that for all intents and purposes they had already *been* in a relationship for some time and Shepard's propositioning was more of a "Hey, you realize we already act like we're a couple, right?  Might as well make it legit".  It makes the romance lead-up we see in the game seem less like a friends-with-benefits thing.  ::shrug::  Maybe that's just me.

And as a sidenote: Damn, Keener has a sexy, sexy voice.

Yeah, that's how I took it too. Considering Garrus' sense of humor, I can see flirtatious joking being normal between them. But when it comes time to be serious I think it's best to leave no room for doubt, lmao.

Hmmm, yeah. Not so much Sbarge for me but dayum, Keener.

So I've been toying with the idea of writing up a complete psych profile for my Shepard, from the perspective of a therapist who saw her shortly after she escaped Mindoir, complete with excerpts from sessions; I'm a psychotherapist by trade, so the idea of exploring my Shepard from that angle is really intriguing to me.

My question to all of you, then, is how does your FemShep cope with stressful and/or traumatic events?
