Vanguard class has stolen my blackened coal of a heart <3  Being constantly close to death and punching stuff turned out to be really fun.

And the default N7 armor really doesn't look so bad.  I use the Kestrel arms though.  They look spiffy.

It's not just the lack of breathable air, though. The vacuum or space is extremely cold, and any flesh directly exposed is likely to become frostbitten very quickly.

I'm so glad that Shepard wears a fully-armoured hardsuit, as I think it would look quite ridiculous if she were to engage in combat wearing casual attire.

I'm looking at you too, Thane of the space trenchcoat and low-cut top xD Funny how the male aliens get full helmets but the women (and Jacob) have to show off their looks and their bodies at all times.

Oh well, I think this looks fine.
(Though looking at how slight Shepard is makes me laugh at that stupid post from yesterday about female Shepard looking doughy and fat with wide hips. Sigh.)

The default N7 pieces you're using here are the least bulky of the new ones in my opinion. I tend to use those if I'm using ME2 armor.

I saw that thread too and had to scratch my head. If anything femshep looks too skinny for who she is, looking at some of the casual wear. Her upper arms are like twigs.

It doesn't bother me though, since all females get pretty much the same body model. Except the squaddies--Miranda's figure especially is quite accentuated. It's very noticeable if you put Shep's head on Miranda's body.

True, though for her Soldier run she was dressed in this lovely frankenstein'd getup for a large chunk of the game until I changed to the default for caps xD

I don't really have that much issue with it either, aside from the legs looking weird and the big shoulder piece being a bit too big for her. I'd rather she look like she's about to go into battle than a night out on the town. I like the ME1 armor but I've gotten too accustomed to the new armor in ME2 for a permanent switch unless I make a character who would specifically wear her old-style armor.

And that was exactly my thought. If anything she could stand to have a bit more muscle but it's not a huge issue for me. Saying that she looks wide though... in what universe? But yeah, all the females seem to suffer twig-arm anyway.

I adore my Vanguard as well.  It makes me feel like such a bad*ss when I play Constance.  Almost as much as when I snipe something in the face with the Widow on Holly.

It would be nice if they had an alternate outfit the squaddies switched into that's sealed with a helmet when they land in hostile environments.

Well in the first game everyone is wearing their "starter gear/alliance clothes" when they're not fighting. Miranda may as well wear her skin tight cat suit as a casual clothing and still wear armour when she's fighting.

Oh, I know exactly what you mean.
As much as I love the Infiltrator class, and I'll always use it for my CanonShep, it didn't cause me to spend the entire game laughing like a psychotic hyena. Vanguard most definitely did.

You know, actually, with the exception of the end battle, I don't think I so much as fired a shot as a Vanguard. It was just *activate Charge* "WheeeeEEEEEEEE!" *SMASH* *bludgeon bludgeon bludgeon sprintforcover* "YEEEEEHEEEHEEHEE!"
All. The time.

That is1 thing I liked about ME1. It's weird, you know. How in ME1 all of them change from armor to a casual type thing (Tali doesn't count) and in ME2 only Shepard really has a difference between the SR-2 and missions/places (again Tali doesn't count) Or, is it just me? It may not be a big deal to some, and it's not, but thoughts?

Edit: How the hell did I miss all the Vanguard talk? Well it is the most bad*ss class to me.
Lili loves to charge, shotgun something in the face and at times shockwave baddies for the heck of it.
Sentinel is the Jack Of All Trades, but also fun.
Oh and here's a question, what is YOUR favorite one class only power? (Adreniline Rush, Charge, Tech Armor, Combat Cloak etc.)
I like all of them really. I've never played Engineer before. Image IPB

Also I'm loading some pics of Lili soon.

Err, what leg armor is that? It looks wildly disproportionate.

I'm going through ME1 again, and I hope to get some nice pictures.

I can't stand the ME2 armour. At all. It looks clunky, comes in horrible colours and the man walk FemShep seems to have adopted in ME2 doesn't help either.

Suspension of belief, I use it. Haha. I just make up a reason in my head, like they have some kind of advanced shielding to protect them from the elements or vacuum.

This. Honestly Jack Samara and Miranda can probbaly produce a biotic barrier strong enough to keep them safe in enviornments with no oxygen and I still beleive the colloector ships barriers were up which kept the vacuum out but it still had no oxygen on board becaue the collector's dont' need it since they've been modified so much by the reapers. As for everyone's outfits doubling as armor, it worked for Tali in both games so why shouldn't it work for the other squaddies. Shep wears armor because She's bee in the military all of her adult life. other's like Jack (no military background) Samara (Freelance justicar) Thane (freelance assassin) Kasumi (Theif) Miranda (higher up in a terrorist/ black ops group).there's not that military background. Even the Asari commandos go out in non hardsuits, Turians already have armor in their regular clothing, and all Krogans wear armor(seriously it's like they're born in armorImage IPB)

A funny thing about Miranda's figure. I remember pointing out to another member on here, how Miranda's loyalty uniform's shoulder pads sort of...rise up (I don't know how to explain it any other way) so that there's a gap inbetween her shoulders and the suit's shoulder thingies itself. It was bizzare.

As for the squaddies outfits themselves, I'm thinking that it's one of those "the majority of the audience isn't going to care. They just want to see their love interests shoot things while wearing skin-tight clothing, leather jackets with open cut shirts....or belt straps" deals that Bioware thinks up.

I found it funny that most of the new characters, especially the newer LI's, are wearing ridiculous attire in combat, and that Tali and Garrus, while still newer LI's, have at least moderate attire to wear in combat.

And it appears to me that male drell dig the whole leather attire with open cut shirt wardrobe. Maybe Thane was a trend-setter?

I remember when I fell for the Vanguard class. I started out with infiltrator becauseI liekd the idea of being stealthy and such and then soldier when I was in my Halo moods, but Vanguard was just. Wow. Seeing my self insert character just crushing people with pure brute force and then if they'res till standing punching them in the face....and if they were still standing putting a claymore round right in their face. What also gave me some mroe love is that normally in game Krogans in me2 go "try a real mans weapon" before you kill them but when you're a vanguard and roll around the corner wth a shotgun they go "Shotgun, cool". Wrex would be proud of Femshep wielding a Krogan shotgun.Image IPB

If I'm not mistaken, I think it says in the ME1 codex that neither biotics nor kinetic barriers can help against the cold and vacuum-less space.

I just noticed that in my current game too!  Vanguard makes me giggle like an insane person.  Not to mention Vera is the most renegade character I've ever rolled.  Muahahahah *cough*

I thought of this too, but I couldn't remember if it was just kinetic barriers that only deflected fast moving objects.  They seem to make mass effect fields do everything now-a-days

Besides the extreme temperatures, there's also a few planets with toxic atmosphere.  It's not okay to breathe, but I guess it's a-ok for your eyes to come into contact with.  Kind of a disconnect from ME1 where even with sealed suits on, planets with toxic atmospheres would still cause damage.

IMO, Not everyone needed plate armor because they weren't all soldier-types, but sealed suits of some kind would have made sense.

Want to dominate the minds of your enemies so they'll work for you instead of against you? There's a mass effect field for that

Need some extra health but don't have enough medi-gel on you? There's a mass effect field for that.

(Those powers don't make a lot of sense in context with in-game biotic lore, IMO.)

It took me multiple tries to find the correct direction to look for Sovereign when he appears in that scene.

:o

Started playing with the Hammerhead. It's actually quite amusing to play with, though I failed to get the last sensor on the "retrieve stuff before the engine gets too cold" mission.

The homing missiles are definitely useful.

The ME1 codex, at least, does mention that typical military kinetic barriers are tuned to only deflect high-speed impacts so that a user can "sit down without knocking away their chair".  Conceivably, it's possible to tune the mass effect of a kinetic barrier to such a low threshold that the person inside would go bouncing around their environment like a pinball.  Funny, but not very useful.

However, that only works for physical objects.  A kinetic barrier would do nothing against extremes of temperature or poisonous atmospheres.  As much as I prefer ME1's armor to ME2's, I'm just thankful femShep actually gets something sensible to wear, given BioWare's recent trend of removing all armor customization from their characters (yes, I'm looking at you, Dragon Effect... er, Dragon Age 2).

Yep, this is how I am with all my Vanguards.  I just sit in front of the TV cackling to myself and occasionally going "BOOOOOM!"  Nothing beats the Vanguard's Biotic Shotgun Surprise.

Re: Armor
I like the ME2 armor, mostly because of the color customization.  I love the colors, especially since you had to simply deal with what you found in ME1.  The armor can be a tad bulky in ME2... I think the medium armor in ME1 was perfect, but the light armor really looked too much like footie pajamas to me.
