Well technically it's my Shepard . . .
True. I've seen much much more FemShep fanart than DudeShep's. Much much more.JamieCOTC wrote...
<snip>So think of it this way, while He-Hawke and DudeShep are out there whoring for BW, femShep and LadyHawke are being lavished w/ fan art and fanfic because they are the fan favorites and the true stars of the game.

Seeing Rachel makes me feel a little better.

He could have worded it way better. This happens so many times, usually with Casey making derp comments. For a game that was originally pushed as being able to customize and "Your choices matter!", the dev who was worked on this game for years says that DudeShep is the "Icon". It's upsetting.

Well, I'm doubting that the main point of the ME franchise is customization or even one of the main points.
I don't really know what the point of the ME franchise is anymore. In a lot of ways it's become indicative of how BioWare, since joining with EA, has lost their way. Mass Effect was done by the team that made Knights of the Old Republic, yet by the time ME2 came around most of that "magic" (and sadly the people who helped make it) was gone. Now it feels more empty and soulless, something cynically marketed and focus tested until it becomes nothing all that special to anymore and merely somewhat palpable to everyone. Yet I don't even think trying to make a game as mass market and as watered down as possible will be enough to pull their publisher (EA) out of the hole they're sinking into. BioWare has strapped themselves to a vessel too large to change course and headed straight for financial ruin.
It probably won't be very long until BioWare no longer means "Great RPGs" and becomes synonymous with generic mediocrity.

I changed it again. Sorry, people. Didn't want trolls coming in here asking what we mean by FemShep being the fan favorite and not their precious Sheploo, the icon. Who appears in nearly every game where the character totes a gun.

I agree, Houston acknowledged her and gave her the props of fan favorite but Marketting obviously has to stick with Male shep and Vanderloo but they could do a "Vid-Doc" on the Femshep Experience to at elast remind gamers everywhere you can play as a badass Female along with the dude from the trailers and that both are equally entertaining.LesEnfantsTerribles wrote...
Having said that, and as Jamie also emphasised, there is a positive to take from this in that FemShep is acknowledged as and stated to be a "fan favourite." It's disappointing that they're insistent on Sheploo remaining their "icon," but it's also comforting to know that BioWare realise that most fans prefer FemShep, and that Commander Shepard is regarded as an iconic female protagonist amongst a significant percentage of the playerbase.
Amidst all the gloom, there is some light.
