Heh, funny you should say that. Just finished my fourth playthrough of Bayonetta and shes gotta be my second favourite video game women after FemShep. The whole game is pretty tongue in cheek and I always feel like Bayonetta herself is laughing at all the other over-sexualised characters; even though that design has been given to her as well, unlike everyone else she isn't either girly or cold.
FemShep does this too* but without the hair-outfit. (*Unless you play super-cold renegade constantly
)
So i guess Bayonetta's unnatural proportions were ok to you.
The moment i saw her tiny head i was like

Her head seems small cause in most games they give 'dem babes massive anime features and bobblehead things. Compared to her shoulders and waist I would have thought it'd be normal sized for a la- erh, killing witch shooting folk with her shoes.
Edit - Yeah though, her design is pretty silly but I still like her as a character. Kinda in a Liz Hurley in Bedazzled kinda of approach to womanhood; awesome looking but can swing the whole scary as hell bat too,
Oh and -INSERT FEMALE SHEPARD RELATED NOTE HERE- D:
But her head is smaller than her boobs! Lol, chalk it up to a design decision. No one ever complains about Marcus Fenix having a tree trunk for a neck.
Femshep and marketing. Me thinks people are missing the point. Sheploo is the face of Mass Effect, that's not going to change and most people realize that, I think. That ship has sailed as far as I'm concerned, for whatever reason they had in the development of ME1 they decided to use Vanderloo as their detailed-head model poster boy. I'm still going to complain about it, because I don't like it, and along with other things it sets a precedent for future Bioware games. This is a forum, yes? Where we voice our opinions? Even if we know things are not going to change in the immediate future. I don't know if we're seeing more femHawke because of fan demand, but I do know nothing ever changes from keeping quiet.
The OP sums things up nicely: We know Sheploo is the face of Mass Effect.
But there are things the devs can do to make a better experience for players who choose to use the female option
-equal attention paid to animations, bugs, clipping
-screenshots of how DLC armor will look on the female model
-possibly some teaser related items for the fans posted on the website, early screens, wallpaper
This is most likely stuff that only people who are already fans of the game will be checking out - so why limit it to male Shepard? And anyone checking out the website who hasn't played the game might go, hey, that's interesting - you can play as someone besides the cover-dude.
And all this talk of who is the fan favorite, or who is more popular is not only not constructive, it's besides the point. Bioware made a protagonist who can be either gender. Outside of Sheploo related marketing, one shouldn't overshadow the other. Both characters were put in the game, both have exceptional VA (personal opinion not withstanding) and they should be given equal treatment.
Love the photoshops, Mr.V!
