Dear BioWare,



I love you, but it's kind of not nice to give people romance options and then ****** on them. I know, I know - it's difficult to sum up such a massive game, and such great characters, in such a short amount of time ... but perhaps, maybe, in the future ... your devoted fan's beloved LI's could be treated with a modicum of respect?



Like, maybe, not characterizing a fellow officer and all-around Good Man as a "kid", or a professional, reliable soldier as a bitter, angry harridan, or a genius scientist as a simpering schoolgirl who might as well have been wearing a short plaid skirt?



Just a thought. Thank you.

It's the same amount of letters, same amount of consonants and vowels. Surely trading 'kid' for 'man' would not have caused much trouble? I don't think they did it maliciously, just that someone is asleep at the wheel.

The comic is not made for the fans. It is not made for those who have the far superior option of playing ME1. It is an additional bit of service towards those players who can't be bothered to play a three year old game on a platform that is not their standard gaming platform of choice. And it is free, as are all the delicious morsels of DLC. PS3 users can't complain about what they're getting, i.e. a damn good game in its own right. And all the rest of us, while not happy about the comic, don't really have a reason to complain either, considering that none of us are forced to read the comic or take it as canon over our individual playthroughs. So let us put on a brave face, stiffen that upper lip and suffer in silence.

 My favorite was the fact that they said the word "Geth" exactly ZERO times in the comic.  So there's no Quarian/Geth anything, no mention of Saren being like their 'prophet' and whatnot.  PS3 players are going to drop into ME2 and see everything like Whaaa..?

EDIT @Shinannigan: I understand that it's not me that has to play it, but I was all excited about getting my brother into the ME series by having him play it on PS3.  He'd be able to skip the broken-esque ME1 Shooter combat for the more polished ME2 stuff and he'd get the best damn series I have seen in one volume.  But alas, he would miss just about everything unless I sat next to him, explaining everything for him.  And that is where the Devs dropped the ball.  <_< Just my opinion, take it or leave it.

Taken. However, I do find it unfair that people seem to have expected far too much from a short bonus-comic and are now complaining. Not that the points aren't valid, but they are also moot because anyone who already knows better really isn't the focus group of that comic.
Those PS3 gamers willing to invest more time into their Pregame preparation have story-runthroughs on youtube available. Those who don't want to spend that much time probably also wouldn't have bothered with a longer comic.

Ahhh, you have a good point.  To some extent, this is my fault for looking at the PS3 comic in the first place  - and I'm going to go ahead and say, atrociously bad characterization aside, it's better than starting a new game in ME2 without an ME1 save where it just picks default choices for you. 

It does seem, though, that the bad characterization in this comic is symptomatic of the same underlying problem that gave us the painfully bad ME1 LI cameos - which is, when trying to balance continuity for ME1 players and accessibility for new players, it was weighting way too heavily towards accessibility, IMO.  This kind of "for those of you just joining us ..." recap is a really good idea, but very poorly executed as far as giving new players an idea of who their teammates in ME1 were.

But on a much happier note, Action FemShep survives 'splosions!

Thanks. Credit where credit is due though: I used ELE's wonderful porcelain skin texture for this one, although she doesn't look too shabby in the vanilla version either. She's actually too pretty for an Earthborn Paragade, but I used the texture for my Spacer Adept and completely fell in love with it.
