Here's a question. How would your femshep feel to being treated like a lady? In other words, have doors open for her, open a car door for her, tip their hat to her, take off their hat when she is in the room, pay for her dinner even if it wasn't a date, etc, etc, etc or is it a non issue? I ask this of all femsheps, but direct it mostly to those who romance Kaidan as he does seem to be the gentlemanly sort.

And what of the reverse. There are examples of flagrant harassment in the game, but what about whistles, off color comments, leering eyes, etc. How would your femshep react to being whistled at on the street?

I think Sam would be so horribly flattered by being treated like that she would make fun of the situation the entire time.  Not because she didn't appreciate it, but because she really has no experience with that sort of thing.  She's always been 'one of the guys' in the Alliance.  As for harassment...

Hmm, let me think about this one for a second.

Morgan has always been kind of a tomboy. That's to be expected from a girl that's raised in a service family. She isn't opposed to outright flattery and being treated like a lady, but, well, look at her:

Image IPB

That is the look of a woman that clearly doesn't want to be in that dress. Does she look good in it? Well, of course, but she just isn't use to pampering herself. At all, and as a result she isn't use to being in anything more "formal" than her dress uniform, and even then she can count how many times she's actually worn that outfit on both of her hands. Predictably she's rarely in situations where others can pamper her in any way. The romance scene with Garrus pre-suicide mission is probably the closest she's gotten to having attention lavished upon her in a long time, and even then it was just a bit awkward (but sweet in an endearing way).

Harrasment, meanwhile? That would probably elict some stern words and a death glare at most.

Image IPB

Deandra, on the other hand, is pretty much what you would expect from a woman that I described as a "cold seductress" when I was still putting the finishing touches on her. She's far more overtly sexual and flirty, almost as if it's just another tool in her vast arsenel that she can use to give herself an advantage. To a degree she's even become vain enough that she expects it from her various "underlings" and admirers.

Wolf whistles and lingering stares would be an ego boost to her. Someone managing to get as far as a grope would suddenly find themselves missing a hand, if not far worse.

I'll answer my own question and then ask another one.

As to the first, UJ would be flattered, but certainly find it strange as no one has done that kind of thing for her since she was a little girl.  She would proably say, "Thanks" and lind of laugh it off too.

Image IPB
As to harassment, she would most likley just let whistles and stares go, (depending on her mood), but if anyone touched her she would automatically break something in their body.

As to the other question, those who romance Liara, do you feel your girl has to be "the man" in that relationship?

Avery:  Raised on Mindoir, she'd find those little touches amusing and quaint and would put up with them.  She'd also stammer and blush at wolf whistles, etc.

Meghan:  Utterly clueless.  If Kaidan held the door for her, she'd absently go through the other door.  She knows better how to deal with the harassment, however.    Depending on its type, she'd either turn around to give her own appraising look, or if someone touched her without her permission, broken limbs would be the consequence.

Rachel:  Resentful of both.  "I'm a gorram marine, not some frilly skirt."

If Ella's out on a date, and actually bothered to do the whole girly/dress-up thing, she'd expect some chivalry.  (Unless she's the one who asked him out.  Then, whatever.)  Non-date, she'd look at whoever was attempting it like they were crazy.  Or she'd try and alternate holding doors for them.  Would depend a lot on who was trying to be the gentleman.

Catherine is much more self-contained and self-sufficient, and would be vaguely insulted.  She'd take it as an assumption she couldn't take care of herself.  She's smart enough to realize logically that's probably not what was intended, but it's what she'd feel.  If that makes any sense at all.

And what of the reverse. There are examples of flagrant harassment in
the game, but what about whistles, off color comments, leering eyes,

Ella has a vulgar sense of humor.  She'd probably laugh.  Unless they tried to touch.  Then she'd break them.

Catherine ignores such things.  They annoy her, but not enough it's worth a response.

JamieCOTC wrote...

Ella doesn't do girls.  Well, there was this one time she was on shoreleave, and this bartender she knew had an asari girlfriend who was interested in experimenting, but she doesn't tell anyone that story.  Ever.  Pretend you didn't see that sentence, k?  (Or Joker will find out, and start bugging her for pictures.)

Catherine loves being taken care of, and when she actually falls in love, is for once in her life not the dominant force in the room all the time.  So, no.  She's elegant and graceful and ever the lady.  She and Liara keep trying to defer to each other in the first game.  It's cute.

Kate finds it charming  and sweet when Kaidan treats her like that although it did surprise her at first.

Kallen loves being treated like a lady, even when she's with Ashley, Miranda, and Liara. Jacob treats her like a lady, but sometimes she does do things for herself. She also only lets certain people get away with the whistles, off color comments etc and they're mostly LI's with some exceptions like Kasumi.

Actually Kallen and Liara took turns being the "man" in the realtionship. Kallen likes taking the lead, but does appreciate it when Liara would take the lead sometimes.Image IPB

1. They don't seek out nor are interested in such treatment, but would accept it politely if that was the manner in which it was offered.

2. My paragons would ignore such boorish behavior. My renegades might decide to let the offender know of their displeasure in a physical manner.

3. There is no "man" in their relationships. They are women who treat each other with love and respect.

If was Kaidan doing it, Melantha would be delighted.  She isn't used to people randomly doing that sort of thing though and would have no idea to respond, so anyone else would just get an awkward, "Uh, thanks?" and this look:

Depends on the comment.  For the most part she'd ignore it, but if it was actually witty, she'd respond in kind and laugh it off.  No touching though.  Touching gets people hurt.

If it were something occurring in gender neutral circumstances (ex: opening the door), she'd pass it off as a kind thing with no implications attached and toss out a "thank you."  If it were a reoccurring behavior from a specific individual, she'd pass it off as a strange personality quirk.

... I'm pretty sure that Kaidan knows that doors are automatic these days, although when they're locked he does have to open them for her, since she's incompetent when it comes to technical things.

Unless it was directly in her face, she probably wouldn't even know it was aimed at her.

>snrk< Jessica, ladylike?  Hah!

Image IPB

If anyone tried to treat her like a lady she'd look at them as if they were clinically insane.  Nobody has ever treated her that way except for one of the girls she knew when she was growing up, and Liara, and those relationships don't really fit chivalry into them anywhere.  Her reaction would be much less appreciative and much more "What the hell?  Get outta my way."  She's depended solely on herself for so long she really has no way of relating to the world outside of that frame of reference.  She hated the dress on Kasumi's mission, especially the heels, she never wears heels and could barely walk.  As soon as the guns came out when getting into Hock's bedroom, the shoes came off.

Wolf whistles and catcalls (which really don't happen to her too often, most people take armor and guns as a warning sign) are pointedly ignored, or if it's really egregious, would get an icy stare and a quiet, matter-of-fact declaration of "Pig".  Any verbal harrassment is dealt with just like Harkin or that batarian recruiter; something quick and insulting.  It's doubtful anyone would even get to touch her in an unwelcome fashion, but if she did she'd kick them between the legs and grin because her Spectre status renders her immune from retaliation.

As far as the "man" in her relationship with Liara (assuming we're working off of gender stereotypes and the "man" is the take-charge partner), well that's complicated.  I suppose Liara would be the "man" in that Jessica's almost an asexual being.  She basically just goes along with whatever Liara wants.  In that respect I guess their relationship is more akin to dom/sub than anything, except without the whips and chains.  Jessica would never stand for anything like that; too much of her sexual history is filled with pain and abuse for her to enjoy a mimicry of it.  Their relationship in the bedroom is purely based on tenderness.  Outside it, though, Jessica's definitely the "man", being accustomed as she is to being in command and getting everything done her way.  In the future (as in post-ME3) this will actually be the main source of friction in their relationship, as she'll have a tendency to bullrush over Liara's concerns or desires and leave her with hurt feelings.  She's going to have to eventually get used to swallowing her pride and apologizing to a tearful Liara for treating her inconsiderately yet again.  As much as it's a good thing for both of them, their relationship will actually be pretty difficult and will require a lot of work.  Their personalities are both very strong and ultimately aren't very compatible.  Not that either one would ever consider giving up, though... some connections are too strong to ever break down.

Stella very much enjoys being treated like a lady, since she is one. For a rather ruthless renegade-type, she's pretty much the epitome of class when it comes time to put away her shotgun. And if anything, being the "better half" of one Mr. Illusive Man only leads to her being wined and dined more often than she's used to. TIM is one dapper fellow, after all.

Image IPB

When it comes to harassment, most of the time, she takes it in stride. She got used to being hit on at an early age and embraced it as part of being a woman as she grew up. Like most of the Shepards here, it seems, it's alright until someone touches her. Any touchy-touchy that doesn't follow her express permission ends badly.
