I agree with...just about everything that Sable has posted on this page.

I've never thought that there was anything wrong with FemShep's physique, and always perceived her to look realistic and believable. She appears toned, fit, in-shape and healthy, and definitely looks the part as a soldier. Huge muscles are not at all necessary.

I agree with both you and Sable. Shepard does not need to be a bodybuilder to get the job done. In fact, I would kill for a body like that (well aside from the neck.) So she's not overly muscular, big deal. I think she looks great.

I agree, I think she looks great...she's just a normal woman, with a normal body who can kick ass without double D's. I love that she's attractive in the normal sense. not like Miranda for example.

I would argue the distinct lack of double D's makes ass-kicking easier.  One of the things I love about femshep as a female video game character, she has normal average sized boobs!  Someone make a cake or something.

Also muscle mass does not always equate to strength.  Tis the truth.

Indeed, ELE!  Contrary to popular belief, looking like Jessica Rabbit can make doing things like kicking ass rather difficult (trust me, I know this from experience).

Edit: ToP Femshep!

Uh... okay, have you actually looked at femShep's ass lately?  That woman is toned.  I could only dream of having that muscle tone.  Just because she isn't ripped and bulging with muscle doesn't mean she's out of shape.  Yes, her body shape is very average, but that has nothing to do with being in shape, and frankly I love that about her.  Here's a kick-ass and attractive woman who's still just average in most respects.  Her her waist is a bit too thick and hips are a bit too wide and her thighs are a bit too large, she doesn't have giant boobs or a wasp waist or legs a mile long, but she is still fit and looks great.  It's awesome to see a game, of all things, admit for once that saving all life as we know it does not, in fact, require a supermodel.

I will give you the comment about her neck, though.  I don't know what the modelers were thinking, but people just don't have necks that long in real life.  Unless you're Nefertiti.

Yes, and as a PC player, I've seen it in the buff too.  You could bounce a quarter off of it.  Anyway, I agree w/ everything you said, Sable.

Hey... reading this, I was just struck by an epiphany.  FemShep and Liara just feels better than manShep and Liara, always has, but I never really could put a concrete reason to it until just now.  With femShep and Liara, they both are equals in every respect.  Their individual strengths show through and neither one dominates the other.  When paired with manShep, Liara's overshadowed, she feels diminished.  I can't say why, since the dialogue and events are all exactly the same.  Maybe it's the whole "Captain Kirk banging the alien chick" stigma, maybe it's the big hunky marine taking advantage of the impressionable young woman stigma, I don't know.  Not to say either of those is occurring or is correct, but maybe they influence the perception of it.  Nevertheless, the femShep/Liara romance feels a lot more natural and less... I dunno, sleazy?  Not the right word but i don't know what I'm looking for.  Regardless, femShep/Liara feels much more equal and fair.

I don't know why I'm quoting you, aside from the fact that was very well said.

The other thing for me is their "chemistry" together.
My one dudeShep, a long time ago, romanced Liara in ME1. Then LotSB came out ... and, in my mind, something didn't work anymore for him and Liara.  Something was off....
When I got the time he will make another run in ME1 and there will be no Liara for him

Agreed!  I have always thought that Shepard's character is very much like that of the legandary John Paul Jones in many ways.  Jones was one of the primary inspiriations for Madeline's character along with my Great Grandmother and a few other.

That makes me think of a question, actually. Everyone, be sure to blame Vakarian for this post and anything resulting in it's existence.

Personality-wise what characters or people is your Shepard based off of? This can include influences to their behavior, quirks, their way of doing things, and so on.

For Morgan she has a lot of Malcolm Reynold's influence in her, ranging from her occasional snarkiness, her combat pragmatism, her resourcefulness and her overall stubbornness and determination.

Deandra, meanwhile, was based off of Morgan to be a polar opposite with some of Alex from A Clockwork Orange's sociopathic tendencies and love for violence thrown in for good measure.

Hmmm, since I have lots of FemSheps I'll just pick my canon to answer the first two questions.

Being treated like a lady:

I believe that Holly would enjoy such attention (though by no means would she expect it).  She has an air of grace and sophistication that's very subtle.  She doesn't broadcast it, but it's definitely there.  All Holly wishes in return from people is respect.  Even then, her patience is astounding. You really have to be a royal jerk in order to ****** her off.

I imagine Thane being the gentlemanly type, though not overly so.  She probably gets plenty of attention and compliments from him.

As for cat calls:

It really depends.  If it's a friend who's joking around with her, she's happy to play along.  Some random guy, like Harkin?  A warning glare and sharp retort would usually be her answer.

Alice doesn't really have a single influence for her personality, though I find myself thinking "What would Mal do?" more often than not, particularly if I'm chewing gum while playing (it makes me a little more feisty, for some reason!).  I see her as the "reluctant hero" archetype.  She joined the Alliance because it offered an opportunity to do things for a greater sphere of influence, but never really enjoyed the rigidity of the military, nor fully embraced the command role, because of the parts of her that she had to sacrifice to take it on.

I'm not even sure if that answers your question...

Here's a question. How would your femshep feel to being treated like a lady? In other words, have doors open for her, open a car door for her, tip their hat to her, take off their hat when she is in the room, pay for her dinner even if it wasn't a date, etc, etc, etc or is it a non issue? I ask this of all femsheps, but direct it mostly to those who romance Kaidan as he does seem to be the gentlemanly sort.

And what of the reverse. There are examples of flagrant harassment in the game, but what about whistles, off color comments, leering eyes, etc. How would your femshep react to being whistled at on the street?

Very nice question!

Renée would take the lady like treatment in stride.  She's always tried to be a class act, and with being a ringknocker and all, she's got an idea of proper formal behavior.  As for the harassment, the Death Glare comes out.  Yes, even Paragons have it.

Oh, who's the boss with Liara?  It's kind of both.  It was a couple of very confused weeks there.  And now, I'm not so sure.

My quick opinion on FemShep's build- it's great.  She looks like an athletic, attractive type.  It gets kind of boring to see the only female bodies in games be adolescent fantasies.

I was going to add that I like how they designed FemShep's body. She looks like a normal woman with some curves.

As for the dominant one in the Liara/Constance relationship...

Constance might think she is, but all Liara has to do is bat those big blue eyes and it's over.

Agreed.  I  too like the fact that femshep is avereage/normal looking and not some hyper sexualized bimbo with boobs so big she never has to worry about bumping her nose.  Her form is feminine, fit and attractive but not exaggerated.  I for one am glad to see that in a female character in a video game.  It's rare and it shouldn't be.

I don't really plan ahead of time, they just sort of happen and I make stuff up to fill in the blanks.

I think I finalized my Kaidan-romancing renegon Shepard, she who was going to be a Sentinel but is now an Adept. Used Ele's face texture since I love the eyebrows xD

She's a good match for Kaidan since she likes good kids.

I based her off, well, myself.  Besides of course, the fact that I am male and she is female :pinched:
That was the initial bit.  From there, it was the cogs in my head turning and spitting out backstory and motivations.  So she ended up being DEFINITELY not me.  So yeah...

Both my Canon Shepard's (Adam and Kallen) are based off of me. Adam's my good side and Kallen is my bad side. (which explains why they both have the same LI's on the PC at least.) my other sheps just make different choices so I get the full experience.

This, for me.  In most cases, my FemSheps were defined BY their playthroughs.  How they approached people and situations is often what I used to extrapolate their personalities and backstories.

Kate is a perfect example.  I intended for her to be coldly professional and withdrawn.  I tried to make her not romance Kaidan, but I would say something mean and then feel bad and say something flirty... so in the end she DID romance him, but in the most bipolar manner possible.

This is what her contrary personality came from.  She tends to be anti-social, sarcastic, and grouchy (a lot like Joker, actually) but despite that she's a caring person who really does want the best for people.  She tends to do Paragon actions while being as mean about them as possible, basically.  And she's probably one of my most realistic-feeling Sheps to me.  Probably because she ended up a lot like me: a big bag of contradictions.

Selene would be mildly bewildered and likely inquire the reason behind his doing such a thing. She would insist it unnecessary, whilst secretly coveting the attention, enough to warrant a feint blush were it to lead to a more intimate act such as if he touched her hand on a date. Although loath to concede, she is prone to moments best described as "girlish" as illustrated. Romance is a foreign experience for her having few people should has committed to.

For the opposite, she would blatantly ignore any crude attempt upon a pickup, rolling her eyes at the barbaric antics of those individuals. Were any of these attempts to become physical, she would response calmly delivered warning. "Unless you'd like to be on the receiving end of a right hook. Get lost."

Keira is a different story entirely. any display of chivalry would either be lost upon her or met with partial scorn. "Really? Ugh, you're one of those." Although on the interior she would perceive it weak, on the exterior the poor individual would be the target of much ridicule. Her sarcasm is poison to the touch, so to speak. Granted, if you could handle or constant taunting, she might learn to live with it.

Wolf whistles and catcalls would be handled in completely inconsistent manners and wholly dependent upon her mood. The more articulate or playful the remark, the more her intrigue may perk. She is promiscuous in her own manner and forward in her desires, coincidently drawing similarities to Jack in this regard. Ultimately, it means nothing to her and heaven have mercy should you so much as scratch her berserk button. Touching can result in serious injury; a quick twist of the arm and a warning. "If you so much as blink. You'd won't feel your right arm for months." Best advice, either let her approach you or if she does not respond, do not under any circumstance continue.

JamieCOTC wrote...

As to the other question, those who romance Liara, do you feel your girl has to be "the man" in that relationship?

Her mannerism would highly insinuate she were the "man" per se due to her tomboyish and imposing disposition. Coincidently, despite remaining entirely apathetic on the subject. She is very visible feminine in her actions. Thus, I suppose one could cite her an uncertain mixture of the two.

She's way too skinny to be Amazon. To be honest femShep looks like average, out of shape female in her 30s. No muscles whatsoever, way too wide hips and long thin neck. I wish she looked like an Amazon.

Would you rather she emulate Tifa? :P Granted, some here may fancy Tifa's hair and marital arts prowess for their Femshep.

Finally got motivated to get back in the vid-cave, as I was having some creative block. Shelving my current project as I'm just not feeling it at the moment. I'm in the mood to do some emotional vids. The sort of music I've been listening to recently is giving me some good ideas. Currently working on a Holly and Thane vid, also one about Aislinn that will be a bit artsy and biotic-focused.

EDIT:
I also believe I promised Chignon a Renegade FemShep trailer, which I'll be tackling also.

Had to look it up.  My goodness those are some gravity defying bu-zooms.  Also the 3rd picture was this.  Lolz.

Slightly on-topic, I think.  But if I had to pick a body for femshep forealz she would look like Gina Carano.  Wowza.
