So my video card flipped out and is currently dying. Really sad, cause I'm still in the middle of making my new video. And I can't run any games. So I'm waiting for my new one to come in the mail from NewEgg. /sadface

Posting this on my husband's netbook. Anyway, yeah it's funny how many pictures there are of FemShep and Kasumi. I tend to use her as a squaddie quite often, until I recruit different characters. That and she's great in a fight. =-)

Yep!   She is a great Shep      All those weird one sided Kasumi pics left me confused for a while too! Glad she was there to rescue my sanity! :P

You guys have some really pretty Sheps... Do you feel that it adds something to your gameplay to have a pretty Shep? I deliberately made mine to have some flaws. Attractive, I think, but human. And I see many which look - forgive me, this is not meant to be an insult - but so perfect they almost look like dolls. What's the appeal? Particularly for female players, doesn't it irk you a little to have people's first impression of your gameplay be "she's pretty" or "she's not"?

Everyone has preferences.  Mine is to have a pretty, yet natural-looking FemShep.  I think most of my FemSheps fit that profile.  Moira and Trista are a bit more exotic, but I don't think they're doll-like.  Half of my Sheps also had scars in ME1.  Everyone designs what they themselves like, which is totally OK in my book.  I love to see how creative people get, especially with modding.

I think it's also moreso about how we portray our FemSheps.  I like to build up their stories through writing and video, which makes them deeper and more interesting.  I'm actually rather flattered when someone compliments one of my Sheps.  Sure, my character's appearance is important to me.  Mostly because I grow attached to that character and couldn't picture them looking any other way.

@Akari

Really like that picture with all your Sheps!  I need to do something like that someday, except it would be like...6 of them.  Hahah.

Dunno.  I wanted to make my Shepard look a bit rough and tumble, but I had a hard enough time getting her to look as human as everyone else in the game instead of throwing me into the "WTF is wrong with that [any given facial feature], I do not think human faces work that way!  D:" zone.  I didn't think about trying to make her attractive in a particular way or to add intentional flaws... other than the scar, anyway.  I love the ME1 scars.

I've got no problem with people wanting to play traditionally beautiful FemSheps if it makes 'em happy, though.  Or harder-edged FemSheps.   Or traditionally ugly FemSheps.  Or whateverall in between.

Also, innocent-looking renegade-types make me: >:D

To Piggy back off of what Aislinn said, I like how my Shep's look and it makes me feel good when people compliment my Shepard's appearance or when people comment on something I've do for a shep (Captions, stories, backgrounds, etc) but looks are about preferences, like people have said how they don't sue certain features on Sheps but others have pulled it off (certain facial structures, make up, armor, etc)

Yeah, I never thought I'd be able to pull off a good-looking Shep with this hairstyle.  Or with that crazy purple color on her armor, but yeah... it works.

Hey there, I'm fairly new here, got into the entire ME series recently and I've been loving it. It's great to see a support thread for FemShep, since she's freaking amazing in every shape and form, and I'm quite intrigued by the amount of detail you all put into characterizing your Shepards.

At first I played my Shepard as a renegade just for the sake of hearing Jennifer Hale's brilliant deadpan delivery of a lot of the renegade lines, but after looking through some of the posts here, I was inspired to put more thought into what kind of character she is instead of mindlessly metagaming. I still love playing renegade, but I now enjoy coming up with justifications for everything she does.

So cheers to you all, the world definitely needs moar FemShep.

Nah she's imported from ME. After the whole Genesis- comic BS I decided to make a Shepard who romances and stays loyal to Kaidan to show my support to the VS - fans :)

Thank you, Aeowyn.

^I thought this was a good shot for her and Garrus.

^Even the paragon choice of blowing up the base and screwing Cerbeus over is what she does, even as a hard core renegade. (I think this is one of my favorite pictures of Lia.)

I think both AD and Aislinn explained how I feel about character design better that I could. Image IPB

I didn't think I'd be able to make a character with this hairstyle that I liked either, but I think she turned out well.  Edited to add, I started out with a facecode on masseffectfaces that I altered some but she didn't have this hair with the original design.

Psh. the Cyber babe hair cut could make Sheploo look sexy. Kallen's not making an expession and I think she' looks damn sexy in this shot.

I love the cyberbabe hair. My own hair looks similar so..eh. Tbf I miss the ME1 - type scars, and I certainly hope Ivy doesn't look like a doll. Besides, like the others have said, what I find pretty isn't necessarily what others might find pretty.

I've used Cyberbabe in the past, but when making Kate for her canon play
through I put the shorter hair on her because it's the closest to how she actually looks in my fic.

This motivational of mine is the same character model as Kate just with Cyberhair, green eyes and not quite as gaunt looking.

Short answer: No.

Slightly longer answer: No, it doesn't irk me. At all. I prefer a pretty FemShep, but pretty doesn't have to equal looking like a doll. I tried to make her pretty and give her some character.

I don't want to go off topic too much but there's a rather simple trick that might help. You can cook the card in the oven. In other words remove the cooler and TIM, place four tin foil balls at each corner of the card (GPU facing up) and heat oven at 190-200c and cook it 8-10 minutes. Let it cool down, reapply TIM and put the cooler back. Thing might work now.

I fixed two laptop GPU's using this trick. At this point you have nothing to loose and tinkering with stuff is great fun.

Well... Alix is not perfect. She doesn't like her "big eyebrows" and "fat cheeks" as she calls them

No and nothing will convince her otherwise. I've tried. Got to hide from her in garbage compactor for a whole day. Good thing Zaeed didn't notice me.

I only tried to make one FemShep look cherubic. The others have some features that look good together (at least IMO), but I've deliberately given them flaws. One has eyes that are really wide apart. Another has a huge scar on her nose, plus an older looking complexion.

I put more effort into making my ManSheps look good. XD

Not at all. I'll openly admit that I design my Shepards to appear physically attractive, and that I'm vain and narcissistic enough to want my characters to look pretty if I'm going to be staring at them for an extended period of time. I'm almost certain that some people think my characters are ugly, though. This doesn't bother me, as they're free to believe whatever they want. The most important thing is that I'm satisfied with my personalised Commander Shepard.

Oh, and it's also worthwhile to ensure that Liara's girlfriend is beautiful, of course. :P
