Yup. I know exactly what you mean.
On a similar topic, related to the way one perceives FemShep, but nothing to do with the voice. I've found it fascinating that different face shapes, sizes and hairstyles can make FemShep look either really tall and slender or a lot shorter - and I mean in casual clothes, in particular - , even though I know they're all the same size... (obviously with armour, different armour types alone can make a big difference in that regard). I'll post some examples of what I mean later.
Definitely. All those contribute to a persona that identifies a particular femshep and can give clues into their personality.
Hair is probably the hardest part in making a new femshep for me because the options are so limited. I think the lack of hair options is the biggest limiting factor of the CC and a large part of the problem with 'all femsheps looking alike' because of how much influence they have on how a face is perceived. Kelly and the 'sexy' hair are 2 of the biggest offenders, even femsheps with different features tend to look similar with these.
The options we have also IMO tend to make faces look very young.
Example; my newest femshep Caroline. This is part of a WIP but illustrates what a difference hair makes.
How I picture her in my head versus her in-game counterpart:

@sagequeen - Indeed, the old lighter armors are a part of how I picture Kyrie. Tough yet graceful which also ties in to her class. Armor, clothes, all that visual stuff make up a total image which sends a visual queue as to what type of character it is. I also see a lot of people color coordinating based on alignment (lighter colors and blues for paragons) which is probably along the same lines.
