Since I can't have enough FemSheps and variations, I (re-)imported a new Morgana game. This time she's an Adept instead of Vanguard, and will take the shotgun as weapon speacialisation(kinda like the ME1 Vanguard).
I think this time, she won't be quite as, erm, careless on the suicide mission as last time(4 survivors)... :innocent: Also I envision this version of Morgana being so pissed off after the Horizon debacle, that she'll have to see about romancing someone on the SR2.

Here's my newest Femshep. Paragade Infiltrator, kind of a lovable rogue the way I see her, though it's remarkable how much a playthrough can help shape a character. Aaand...I'm having trouble coming up with a name for her. I know I want something that sounds a little tomboyish and unique.

Wurf when ever I have issues with a name I just look up 'baby names' on google. . There are plenty of websites out there with alternative names, names that fit both genders. As a added bonus they usually provide somekind of background information as well! It's just a tip for those who are having trouble naming their Sheps!

Waaaait a second.  You used Complexion 2 didn't you?!  I knew there was something that made her look so unique!  I don't think either of the other two complexions have the nasal-labial fold so visible, but I never picked up on it until the lighting in this picture set it off.  If true, it's one of the very very few femSheps that use that texture and make it look good.  Impressive!

re: names... well, I just go with whatever fits them.  It actually took a couple playthroughs for Jessica to tell me hers; about the same time I switched her nose out to the current version and everything about her just gelled around that.  Before, she was called Jasira, my conceit being that she's of Arabic extraction, but it ended up working much better to say that through her nose and give her a more "common" name.  I don't know why.

I only have two other femSheps, neither of whom I've gotten off Eden Prime, but one told me her name right away, Christine.  Which makes me think she's the only other one I could play besides Jessica.

It's mostly spontaneus/random. Two of my Sheps are named after a single - rather obscure - female sci-fi character, Mara and Jade(a cookie for any one that gets the reference). There's also Jenn Shepard, who I named after a certain favourite voice actor . The rest aren't named after anyone in particular. Anne, Jeena, Morgana, Alessia - yeah, I have too many FemSheps.  If I create a completely new FemShep again (ie. starting with a new ME1 character playthrough), I might name her Ellen - another cookie for any one that guesses which fictional character "Ellen" in particular I'm thinking of.

I was just about to ask this very question! I'd type up the post and everything! Curse you for stealing my thunder!

Anyway to answer your question:

My Shepard's are named after the three Valkyries from the Valkyrie Profile games. I named the first one Lenneth and stuck with that theme for my second Shepard, Hrist. So when it came to the third, she got the name of the remaining Valkyrie, Silmeria.

Non of them were designed to look like or have the personality of the character who they take their name from, although Silmeria did end up looking quite a bit like her name sake. It wasn't intentional and I only realised after I'd
made her and run her through Mass Effect.

I just really liked the name Lili. (it's also from another game.)
Athena after the greek godess her self, of course.
Lia is short for Lianna. And the name was a friend's idea.
Elizabeth is just a name that I like.
Maria is just a pretty name. (Yeah, that's all I can think of.)
Titra, I made it up, really.

What I consider when naming them is really what fis their personality and background but also has a certain feel to it.

I find http://www.nymbler.com/ paticularly useful for those times when you can't for the life of you think of a name for a character.

My current canon Shep's name is Aibreán (Irish for April), inspired by April Ryan from The Longest Journey. Mythological names are a favourite of mine too, Mercury, Xanthe, Loki and Minerva are some names I've used for past Sheps.

And while I'm at it:

I do this too.  I usually have a general idea of what I'm going for and then I just browse until I find something that seems to fit.  Colonist - I usually go more traditional, your Janes Joes and Bobs.  Earthborn - something less common because their parents aren't around.  I like more tomboyish names for earthborns as well, usually a nickname or shortened version of something else.  I actually really hate trying to think of names because I end up blanking 95% of the time.

(earthborn) Teagan, I can't for the life of me remember where this came from.  Maybe I had Dragon Age on the brain.  I guess I'd change it but it's hers now.  She likes to go by Shep.

(colonist) Caroline, a little shameless self-insert there (my middle name *cough*).  She's 1/4 Chinese and named for her grandmother Caroline Cheng on her mother's side.

Caroline Cheng -->Hannah ShepardXSam Shepard-->Caroline Shepard
Oooo new appearance pack tomorrow.  I'm ready to start her playthrough.  For now she's just chillin'

Yay.  Have a cookie! <3 You'd be surprised with how many people have no idea who that is. I only got to know her in the Jedi Knight expansion many years ago - my first ever lead female (playable) video game character.


Note to self - rename Morgana the Adept to Ana.

Edit: ok ok, time to convert and upload some screenies...
A little background regarding character/face creation. For once I didn't visit the face codes DB and decided to base the new face on one of the (ME2) presets. I picked the second or third face, the one that originally has the hair bun and worked from there. Obviously I changed the hair, as well as tweaking the make up and eyes. I haven't modded anything, and I'm not going to, except for the name-change.

Make my day

I unwittingly named most of my characters unisex or traditionally male name. Habit that started with my usual Elliott, then Logan, then Andy, Freddie, Sid and Billie.


Also have another Shep called Natalie; stoopid anomaly...
