...and the alternative to Battlestar Galactica's Adama Glare, I present:

The Shepard Glare....

Image IPB

Oh, okay, it's more of an "intent look" or something.

Anyway, completed 2nd run for Riza.

Image IPB

I guess she's a Paragade. Was easier to find some of the 9 Renegade point options while going Paragon on the major decisions. Like putting a gun in Conrad Verner's face.

Her survival after that big piece of Sovereign hit the tower...

Image IPB

Led to a mass derp, I think. At least Kaidan looks goofy.

Image IPB

Now, do I start the other FemShep ME1 runs or go crank up ME2 and see what options are available? Decisions, decisions...

ETA...another ToP?! Woah...
Might as well add a tribute video to the anime character Riza's based off of, since judging by her Renegade score, she really doesn't give a *@&! about her reputation.

@netfire_ Derp Party: A stream of pictures of derpy-faced people/Mass Effect characters. At least, that's the meaning I've applied to my self-coined phase. ;P

I'm sure we can get to 1,000 in no time. Simple exercise: go and get your Mass Effect case. Reflect on the Sheploo emblazoned on the front. Let the feelings of marginalisation, dismissal, and repression wash over you (remember to steadfastly resist all logical evaluation in this phase).

Return and post for all you are worth!

(Edit: in case anyone takes this as a dig at the mentality of FemShep fans, it's not intended this way. It's how I think ^_^)

re: cougarshep and ninjamance - truly, to each their own be. if you dislike/like ME2 shep's romances, that's cool. I was just trying to respond to jamie's question with my observation that ME2 femshep romances really felt overly careful to avoid ninjamancing and my suspicion was that the "Ew, don't let a dude hit on me, even if I'm playing as a woman" thing really came into play there.  I, too, love it when the characters do their own thing. You can love 'em or leave 'em accordingly. Zevran in DAO was a perfect example of that. first time i played it, i shut him down fast. but the next time i played it i had my elf mage romance him and i found it my fave romance out of the game. wasn't expecting that, i tell you what.

Luke Skywalker and the animated version of The Joker are played by the same person. Strange things happen.

"What do you know... Saren's been playing Farmville the whole time. Guess he was still resisting Sovereign..."

Just starting up ME2 to see what sort of options a lvl 5 character gets and to create a face for a fifth FemShep, whom I'm going to name "Elf" after Ellen "Elf" Foxworthy of Schlock Mercenary. Going to play a soldier for once just to see if I can get the assault rifle achievement. Might as well play another Femshep and see if I can have her live up to the Seventy Maxims of Maximally Effective Mercenaries. The usual play method definitely supports Rule 1: Pillage, then burn.

:P

So I guess Sheploo will be a character I'll never play, though I'll probably get some custom MaleSheps through the game as well.

Sheploo: :o:crying:

Sorry, Sheploo.

Jacob: Crap, another femShep here to hit on me again.
Shepard: What the hell? Look, whoever you are, we just met. I'm not going to hit on you.

There's kind of an irony in the fact that most of Mark Hamill's VA career has been villain roles.

My opinion on ME2 is limited to Jacob and Garrus since I haven't played through Thane myself and watching it on youtube doesn't really give the full picture. Femshep seems a little less aggressive in the Thane-mance at least, but there is still the oddly paraphrased "I want you" line to trigger the romance.

ToP

A little late to the party, but I wanted to just get in a comment on this. I disliked the paraphrase for that immensely, but it could have been worse. What actually happens is that she shrugs and goes: "Friend, huh? It's a start." It's not delivered in an overly aggressive manner, but it is clearly femShep opening the door, though not kicking it down like she does with Jacob. I think what they were going for with Jacob was an attempt to try not to have this guy who keeps dropping those hints that he has a crush on femShep. Commendable, but it really needed more time to develop. I do like that Jacob flat-out admits that he hasn't looked at femShep "that way" because she's the boss, and Cerberus does tend to make you wary of the people in charge. I thought it was a good idea, but it got absolutely massacred by the "3 convos = pixelsex" approach they take with ME/ME2 romances.

Actually, that's not the right line.  You get that response when he says you're the only friend he's made in 10 years, and you pick "Just a friend?".  You don't have to pick that line at all to romance him.

The only romances I've done in ME2 are Thane and Garrus. I like them both. I'm pretty happy with Thane's romance, and I'll explain why below. There are a few things I'd tweak with Garrus', though.

To clarify the Thane romance, I found Shep to be far less aggressive than in the others. There is a line early on where you can let him know you're interested, but you don't have to pick that to still romance him. It seems more like she wants to be a good friend to him than anything else.

The infamous "I want you" line is actually "I'm here for you, anything you need."

I don't find that to be cougar-like at all. He starts calling her "Siha", but won't tell her what it means till later. When he finally reveals it's meaning, it also leads to him confessing he has feelings for her. At that point you still have total control, and can either further the romance or end things there.

It's actually Thane that puts himself out there and tells Shepard his feelings go beyond friendship, which I really like. Even after that her replies aren't cougar-like. There's a lot of emotion, with an underlying tension that slowly builds. You can see the two of them care deeply for each other.

Also, I'd like to point out that FemShep does not sexually proposition Thane like she does Garrus or Jacob. And her tone is never seductive or over-the-top. Perhaps a tad playful on one or two lines, but this is after the romance has been initiated.

One of my favorite lines FemShep says:
"I spent two years dead, every moment seems irreplaceable now."

In the romance scene, FemShep is a bit physically aggressive. Not just because she wants to get into his pants, but because he's there pouring out his soul to her. She wants to comfort him and ease his fear. The only thing about that scene that bothers me is the final line, which is a bit cheesy.

As for Garrus:

I would have liked the option to take the relationship in a more emotional direction. I do like some of Garrus' lines in the romance. They seem to reveal he has feelings for FemShep and wants to make her happy. It would have been nice to have the option to further discuss those feelings. Though I found the romance scene cute and funny, I think it would have been nice if the emotional part at the end had been longer with some dialogue options for FemShep.

I think it would have been nice if Garrus could have shown interest first, if you picked the right dialogue options.  Unfortunately, we have to go with "Hey, you talked about easing tension.  Wanna?"  :P

I hope that in ME3, the current love interests will reveal more feelings of their own and pursue FemShep a bit more. It would be nice to see the relationship deepen and grow.

@Aislinn: Ahh, thanks - it's nearly 3am here, it's all blurring together :o

In any case I agree with what you wrote - asides from a few cheesy lines at the end, the Thane romance is very well done, and femShep gets to be both supportive and feminine without it coming across as forced or out of character.

I am curious to see how the various icons on the Dragon Age 2 dialogue wheel turn out - if it's an effective system, we might see it pop up in ME3.

Edit: Awesome job, sagequeen :D

Well done. I must indulge the my pedantic side, though, and point out than ME is technically not an FPS :P

How hard did you find it?

Paramour is the one achievement keeping me from 100% completion. It will stay that way until I can be bothered modding a savegame, too.
