Speaking of Jacob, I actually really like him as a character. I think if his romance had been written better (or put into the right hands, I suppose), it could have been something special.

All my FemSheps consider him a good friend, Holly included:

Question for people who've stayed loyal to their me1 LI. does getting the Paramour achievement in ME2 make you feel weird? since I've seen people go back and have their achievements blanked so they can get everything else without Paramour since it "implies cheating"

@ADLegend

I have lots of FemSheps, so... no, not really. :P I'm thinking of making a canon change for Moira, though. The more I play her, the more I think her sleeping with Kaidan in the first game just doesn't feel right. She fits sooo well with Garrus, it's ridiculous.

Perhaps a future FemShep I create will "cheat", if that's what you want to call it.

Hold on... the achievements aren't character-specific (at least on the 360 version); all Paramour says is that you romanced an ME2 character at some point. That's all.

Also... WTF. I thought it was bad enough with people comparing their K/D ratio in Halo, but seriously? People are worried about a non-specific achievement implying they cheated on their fictional love interest with a fictional character in a fictional universe that's entirely disconnected from everyone else's version of said fictional universe?

Dammit my brain hurts.

Incoming WoT:

Caroline Shepard's profile: the abridged version

The full blog WIP

Image IPB

Name: Caroline Andrea Shepard
Alignment: mixed (ME1 majority renegade ME2 majority paragon)
Hard edged pragmatist.  Basically, she follows her own moral compass.  Ruthless when she feels the need, but also flexible to an individual situation.  She likes to think her decision have a rational basis, but sometimes emotion influences her judgment and it's not something she would ever admit to.  Torfan is a good example.  Her reasoning is sound as was her follow up report, but it would be a lie to say that part of her wasn't driven by her memories of Mindoir.
class: Infiltrator
Favorite weapon: The Widow
Favorite Combat Ability: Cloak

-saved the council
-Noveria: killed the rachni.  helped Gianna
-Feros: colony was not saved.  Shiala executed
-Virmire: Kaidan left behind with the bomb.  Rana dead.  Saved the salarians
-Conrad: I thought you were a hero!  Heroes don't do things like this! Hehehe...
-Bring Down the Sky: Killed Balak
-Chose Anderson

-accepted SPECTRE reinstatement
-destroyed the Collector base
-rewrote the Geth
-Tali: not exiled
-Kasumi: graybox destroyed
-Sidonis alive
-Kept the genophage cure just in case
-Zaeed: killed Vido
-Overlord: sent David to Grissom Academy
-Suicide Mission: everyone survived

PSYCHOLOGICAL PROFILE//PERSONALITY

Introverted but adaptable.  Growing up on Mindoir she was an average kid: she had a small group of good friends, played for her school's soccer team, and excelled at math and science.  But she loved being alone.  Her father taught her how to shoot a gun and hunt, a common pastime in their somewhat rural town.  Her favorite memories were of being alone on the plains of Mindoir with her treasured hunting rifle, enjoying the solitude and simple beauty of nature, and contemplating what kind of universe lay beyond Mindoir.  Someday she would see space, and visit earth, the birthplace of humanity.
This was all abrupty ripped away in the slaver raid that killed both her parents and baby brother.  She has few memories of the events.  The violence of the attack erupted swiftly and young Caroline was buried in debris from an artillery attack just feet in front of their home.  Her only memories consist of waking up on an Alliance hospital ship bound for earth.  The colony was in ruins, the only thing she had left of her life was a severly damaged holo of her family she had kept in her wallet.
At 16, she was old enough to get a minimum wage job, and with no family left to speak of, there was no one to care if she slip through the cracks.  She claimed the small credit account left to her through her parents and rented out a tiny studio apartment.  She didn't return to high school, instead testing out at age seventeen.  Always independent, she was forced her to grow up fast and learn to depend on herself.  Over two years she spent a lot of time and money getting work done on an extensive back tattoo.  It pictured a phoenix rising out of the flames. Three lotus blossoms arranged across her shoulder were reminders of the family she had lost.  The dull searing pain of the tattoo needle was like therapy, a permanent remembrance of what she had been through, what she had lost, and that she had survived it all.  At age 18 she enlisted in the Alliance.  Her tiny apartment and job at the front counter of a local firing range gave her little reason to stay.

Analytical, methodical, practical and emotionally closed off.

Romance: No in-game romances, Caroline carries a torch for Alliance Captain John Bishop (he's a tech guy, so I guess that would make him an engineer in game terms.  An engineer who can kill you with his bare hands.) Back when Caroline was still a LT and before Torfan, they had a very heated physical relationship.  They both knew it was bound to end due to the nature of their careers and parted ways when Caroline was reassigned.  They have a sort of vague on-again off-again relationship.  Meaning on-again when they find themselves together.

Why they work (or don't as the case may be): Her personality and general aloofness have historically been a big turnoff to the men around her. He was an answer to her, someone who was willing to push back, and smart enough to keep up.  cocky, but with the skill and intelligence to back it up.  They're both very set in their ways, and it caused them to butt heads on more than one occasion, but that only seemed to heat up the palpable sexual tension between them.

Both are stubborn and non-commital.  Both create boundaries against others due to the nature of their professional lives.  Both still carry a torch for the other and tend to compare any potential dates against the other resulting in neither pursuing serious relationships.  Caroline is still the product of her youth and thinks she doesn't need anyone else, a souvenir of her 3 years living alone on earth.  Yet she still finds herself thinking of John and if maybe things could be...different.

Three fun facts
1. Vices?  Drinkin and smoking...in moderation.  Once in a blue moon she really craves a cigarette, a habit she picked up on earth.
2. Theme song: Coming Back to Life
3. Favorite color: green

thank you femshep. you inspire me.

There's something about playing insanity with a FemShep that just gives me a sense of bad-assery.  I know we're the ones controlling the gameplay but it's awesome to see Shepard show off "her" major skills on the battlefield.  I love Shep's lines when she screams she's taking heavy fire and she slides into a wall for cover.  It's just awesome.

Yes, and please don't mention page counts, here.  The mods don't like it and I'm sure they'll be watching when we hit a certain milestone.  They actually delete posts if you mention it.

I sometimes have to skim quickly through this thread since it's so massive so I don't remember if anyone shared this:

It's a short interview with the Dr.'s about ME3.  I loooooooove how Muzyka corrected Zeschuk that Shepard could also be female.  It made me lol pretty hard.  :P

I definitely think that BioWare is hearing the support for FemShep. My prediction is that the next original IP will "feature" a female lead character much as Mass Effect has featured Commander Shepard. I definitely don't think that is a bad idea.

This is a thought I've had but I had given up on it for a little bit until the DA2 team was gutsy and gave the fans their fix of Lady Hawke.  She-Hawke is quite popular all around and seems to have a ton of support.  So I wouldn't be totally surprised if FemShep and Lady Hawke pave the way for a BioWare game featuring a heavily promoted female lead.

For Hawke's cousin, we can only hope that we at least get what we have asked in the OP.  Which is not asking much, to be honest. :)

ELE: Very good. Your Captain will be pleased. /Nihilus

I'd be insanely jealous of ELE08, but I'm more in awe. ("Awwwww...") No, that's awe, as on astounded beyond belief. ("Oooooooo....") Better... I think.

...so, pretty much accomplished nothing save creating Elf Shepard and modifying Riza because there was always something a bit... off about her facial structure around the cheekbones or something. Took me a few hours of playing around in ME2 before I started over to alter the face... and stop launching probes at planets. It's a worse timesink than the Solitaire game in Windows. ("Commander? We haven't recruited Mordin yet and this is just a test run..." "As you we--oooh, an Eezo deposit!" *FWOOSH*)

Also noticed a strange graphics error with her hairstyle that made it come out of the helmet for some reason.

:o

Riza, modified. Short hair, to reverse the anime character's hairstyle pattern.

(Always worry about the character's looks during the opening mission, but then Shep's still not far from reanimated corpse at that point so she's bound to look a bit off.)

...and yes, my creations bear little resemblance to the fictional characters they're based on. It's due to complex reasons: These two are based off of anime and a webcomic so the details are not easy to replicate or they lack those details. Also, the Character Creator has limits. Finally, I am not very good at this. Really, tried to recreate a live-action character as well as someone looking like myself, but that's straying off-topic especially since I'm male. In either case, I think all (FemShep or otherwise) could look like distant cousins of the originals...

:?:whistle::innocent:

Ah well, trying to get my sleep hours back on track for work, so I might be posting more wackiness here and there.

Very nice. I'd not seen this, so now I have to take back that snide remark about Laidlaw sounding condescending. When he'd said he'd "consider" using LadyHawke because everyone "asked nicely," I really didn't think he was serious.

[crunch, crunch] <-- sound of me eating my words.

Two thumbs up -- way up -- for Mike Laidlaw!

This is an interesting idea that hadn't occurred to me. It got me thinking about the awkwardness of BioWare suddenly "improving" FemShep for ME3. What if they did improve the default by building a new custom face from a live model, as they did with Yvonne Strahovski and Mark Vanderloo? I have several custom FemSheps and my "canonical" Rhea. They're all standing in line to finish the trilogy. What if I liked the new one better? Horrifying! Image IPB

Seriously, while I still hope they put FemShep on more equal footing as a second iconic Shepard in marketing and the game itself -- better customization options, a realistic female armature for animations, and more three-dimensional customization of the character in gameplay itself -- creating a new game or game series that gives them opportunity to "do it right" from the beginning would be a win as well (for them, for us, and for the gaming industry).

It's just sad that it would be somewhere in the vicinity of 2014 before we could hope to see something like that.

Hmmm... Then again, there's always the option of a "Mass Effect: Origins"... Image IPB
