Could someone provide an explanation to me as to why morrigan couldn't perform the ritual postmortem on the warden? I mean far as I am aware sperm has been shown retain it viability up to 24 hours in a dead body and then it has to be frozen ( morrigan has ice based spells).

Of course I have no ideal how long Archdemon's souls last, I guess is could be like that movie fallen with denzel washington.( 500 cubits I think it could travel before the soul need a new host)

Refraining from addressing everything that is just so wrong in your first paragraph...ummm you do know how sex actually works, right? Wait...don't even answer that....

The better question would be how she never got preggo before with all the times I ravaged her in the tent...

That can explain it.

Wouldn´t that make everyone like her?

At least in Real Life the girls with these characteristics are usually the ones with the most lovers......

There's a difference between liking someone and wanting to screw them. I'm sure she'd get a lot of the latter and but not so much of the former. Not many people like a b****.,

See, that's just it though. She didn't come off as a **** to me, just a very strong woman who sees no reason for love. Everything she does is practical and makes sense. If you take the time to actually, you know, be nice to her then she becomes a more interesting character, but she's never a normal person. That would be impossible with her upbringing, power, and intelligence. I really don't get why more people don't like her.

See I don't see Morrigan as strong. I see her as very very weak but hiding behind a facade of strength. That said its just my interpretation. And I tried being nice to her but she threw it in my face so often that I got sick and tired of it. Her moodswings reminded me of my pregant aunt without the biological excuse. I found Morrigan in the end to be a scared, petulant, self-absorbed child who is messing with something she should better leave alone and is going to blow up in her face when the actual adults (Flemeth) come to play.

That said I didn't find her overly independant either. She spends the whole game following her puppet master's philosphy every *after* finding out they were a puppet master! I lost almost all respect for her at that point. I could understand why she was the way she was but to act as though her way was the best and only way when she was dancing on Flemeth's strings made me laugh. Not to mention her "manipulation" I know 5 year olds more manipulative than her.

and what part of that process has any possibility in medieval fantasy world?  Unless you plan on telling me that she used her lightning spell for electroejaculation?

We're not content with incest and bestiality in this forum, no sirree. Now necrophilia!

I would love, though, to see the looks on the faces of those who hated Morrigan and turned down the ritual when they're told that Morrigan had her way with them after they were dead.:D

They said that Morrigans story will continue I hope its not in DA2 it would kind of suck meeting Morrigan again as Hawke instead of our warden. Maybe in a second expansion or a cheap DLC *sigh*

That there are outlandish methods by which she *may* have been able to get her wish may be so, but the idea behind the ritual is that the child draws the archdemon's essence instead of the Warden who slew it, so in any case where the Warden is killed in the slaying, no such ritual was performed, whether the player was aware of it or not.
Incidentally, if you're in a romance with Morrigan, she still confronts you and asks you to your face to perform the ritual with her and is one hundred percent certain that a child will be conceived. This suggests that there's actually an element to the magic that guarantees conception, which further makes any scenarios where Morrigan does not lay with a willing participant on the eve of battle *specifically* a bit unlikely, although not necessarily beyond the reach of reason.

EDIT: I don't know if it's been mentioned yet, but if you end the game in a romance with Morrigan but still refuse the ritual, the ending states that she might have been with child anyway, although it also makes it clear that her ritual was not completed.

The first time that happened to me I wondered if it was a bug but after I had checked it up, it's actually just a varient ending where she has conceived a child due to the Warden having bedded her before during her romance.

I was epicly pleased when I found that out (hey no one beds anyone in my party but mah warden!)

If you refused the ritual, there is no possible way Morrigan could have been with god child since obviously either you or Alistar/Log die. The taint enters, causes you or them to die, Morrigan gets no god baby since the taint kills the warden.

So does that mean the godbaby wont be apart of DA2 or any other DA games because it is not a canon? Ahhh this blows its all because the Alistair fangirls. Here I was looking forward to a godbaby destroying things ect.

you've got it backwards, the mori fanboys want the baby

May I put this to rest?

If the player didn't do the Dark Ritual, or didn't get Alistair or Loghain to do it, then it wasn't done. Had Morrigan figured out some way to otherwise do it, then nobody would have died when the Archdemon was slain. If she had some way to go about getting the Archdemon's soul without resorting to the Dark Ritual as she proposed it, then why did she go through all the trouble?

We could undoubtedly come up with some complex Plan B on Morrigan's part whereby she gets the Archdemon's soul but has to do something far more terrible-- but a) that removes the player's agency in the biggest single choice of Origins and B) would probably be pretty lame.

I understand why you put it that way and that is why I was in favor of a canon of some sort/scope for the sequels of DA:O. I would prefer a "sacrifice" canon ending than leaving Morrgain's storyline so open (even if in my gameplay I've choosen to do the dark ritual)...

Having said that, I'm very curious to see how you would manage the dark ritual/god baby thing in the next chapters of the franchise. I mean, I don't see how you could make a game were the god baby could have been born or not and  still granting some sort of meaning and impact to the biggest choice in DA:O in the overall scheme of thing.

I assume that I'll have to play and find out :).

Can't say i like the current direction of Dragon Age to = Mass Effect. Don't get me wrong Mass Effect is a fine Sci-Fi game, but i really hope Bioware will reconsider and at some point set to do a true Dragon age 2 picking up where origins left of. Just too many things were left hanging IMO. I'd much rather see the results of the dark ritual, or weither we ever settle find/settle down with our romance choice (morrigen etc.) then play a reduced option/choice Dragon effect

How do a players savegame import work if they did the sacrifice in DAO but voila appeared alive again in Awakening (if im not mistaken, Awakening is a critical import aswell right?).

Do
you default the ending that the Warden made the choice of giving a
child to Morrigan or will it just be one of thouse unexplained mysteries
that'll never be mention about the Warden?. =)

Your Warden was not resurrected in-game. If you imported a DS Warden into Awakening, then you chose to un-do your earlier decision. As to whether you can un-un-do it again when importing into DA2, I really don't have an answer for that yet, sorry.

Have you looked into the possibility of having the dark ritual into canon? The Warden's role would have been more important than simply ending the Blight and made into a major plot for the Dragon Age series.

Knowing that Flemeth is in Dragon Age 2, and Morrigan's story isn't over.. As I see it, most likely Morrigan raised some God child, there is alot of possibilities to. What I don't understand is how they could bring Morrigan back at all, with the possibilities in Origins. I think of it as all being connected. Flemeth is in DA2, so will Morrigan, since Morrigan is, some sort of God child will be. (My thoughts.) ;)
But what if I was an elf in Origins..? If I did the ritual will she have some half breed/God child? Will uploading my character from Origins control that much of Dragon Age 2's plot? Hmm..

I think it's stated somewhere in Origins that a human/elf union will always produce a human child. Not sure about Dwarves, and quite frankly, I'd rather not think about it.

I remember hearing her telling her mother's stories about her and the wildmen and at some point, she told the Warden that her mother expected her to do the same when she was of age.
Its like she was expected to conceive a child on pourpose, I belive that most of time it wans't necessary to be a child of Warden, she just choose the player or Alistair because it was perfect opportunity to creat a powerfull child that she could "eat" later as her mother did with her sisters.

After all, she clearly belives that survival comes before everything, since absorving her daugthers powers will make half-immortal, why would't Morrigan do the same?
She doesn't want money, she wants power as she tells you when your back in her hut after the battle at Ostagar.

A new idea just popped at my head: its possible that Flemmeth might indeed be Morrigan's mother or at least grandmother, depends on how you see it.
If Morrigan do give birth to the god-child, that child would like Morrigan and and Morrigan would be like Flemmeth, only thing is, she must wait for her daugther to have a new bloodline so she can "eat" her and later her grand-daugther... I know its crazy lolz.

Maybe Morrigan's sneakily conceived egg, through a very powerful Flemeth spell, can be made to absorb both the Archdaemon's and the Warden's souls (thus killing the Warden), and that means th egg wil become twins. Morrigan just needs to throw away the plain one after they are born. She has her god-child, and it's all good :P

rather than cover all possible scenarios to make the story work, they'll just retcon the dao ending story to make it work the way they want to write it.

That would be a possibility... if they weren't in a medieval age with no tools or knowledge, as far as I know, in how to extract sperm from a corpse...
Unless you planned to use plenty of imagination - like to hit his "shotgun" by a lightning bolt, wich I doubt it would happen anyway. Besides what would the critics say about Bioware if they saw direct necrophilia business in the game?
If it was you creating the game and then only you played it, you could add whatever you wanted to it, but don't forget that Dragon Age is played by millions of people and some of them might be sensible to those things.
