You're not the only one. I'm having the exact same problem, I've tried everything I can think of. It still isn't working.

Check your DLC content on the Options page and ensure that everything is Enabled. I normally play Dragon Age with my account NOT logged in. I'm playing the game on the PC on which DA was installed from CD's (not STEAM).

OK. Seriously?
This patch is worse than the one before. Please help me remove it from my STEAM game. The game keeps crashing every 30 minutes instead of every 2 hours or so. Wow. And I thought it was bad beforeI'll add camp won't boot from Denerim, and I have to skip to Soldier's Peak before I head there for it to load at all. Oh, and I forgot... I have to wait 2 minutes before loading any save before my DLC is even acknowledged.... bad... really bad.
It's not the game, it's your system.
Clean up your PC, reinstall the game and try again. The patch and game via Steam work great.
System's squeaky clean, as it's barely 2 months old. And don't tell me it's my computer either:
Asus G73JH-A1, 8 GB RAM, 1 TB hard drive
Intel core i7 Q720 @ 1.6 GHz
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5870, 1 GB
Catalyst 10.6 driver (latest version)
Windows Experience Index components are all above 7 out of 7.9, except for disk transfer rate, which is 5.9/7.9, which is considered a top rating
I'd say that's unacceptable performance on such a system. And, yes, I did try all the memory leak tips, restricting affinity to the last 4 cores, etc.
This was not a cry for help. Merely a statement of dissatisfaction.
Cheers, and thanks anyway

Fully agree with you there! But unfortunately, I think we'll have to depend on Qwinn, TeraEx, and the other dedicated (some might say "obsessive") members of the Modding Community to do the clean-up work that BW's original QA process should have, (but obviously didn't) catch. <sigh>BrunoB1971 wrote...
...my biggest concern now is for Bioware to tidy up the game.
I do, however, understand that any Patch or DLC team starts with the "as is", not "should have been" state of the code. And also that what some of us consider major flaws (from the dropped Morrigan scenes, "Alistair as King" when NOT, enhanced item/person stats not being applied, to the "Silverite Mines" or "Play both sides of Orzzamar's Politcs" or "Companions' Personal Quests not Triggered" game-breaking debacles) others might not even notice.
But even if I don't expect BioWare is going to do all the "tidying up" themselves, I do wish they would reconcile the many different lists of known issues, and set some kind of official stake-in-the-ground about what they will/think they'll/might work on, and what the Community (of those who care) can/should attend to.

Hope you will continue patching though. The story and dialogue bugs really need to be fixed. On PC we have Qwinns fixpack, but most players don't know about it, and PS3+360 players cant do anything with it.

Shouldn't have to worry about the order with the Steam version. It would be the same as with consoles.Jock Boo wrote...
oh, and another thing... they recommend installing DAO then Awakening then patch.... how am I going to do that since steam auto installs patch... and I have yet to buy awakening since I didn't finish DAO??
Later version patches usually include the previous patches, so you don't have to install the previous patches in this case; BW has already stated that this is the case with DA. I've only run into a few games that require you to install incremental patches on top of full version patches.Marko GW wrote...
I'm currently on 1.02... should I go directly to 1.04? ...or first 1.03 then 1.04?
And also if I reinstall completely from scratch... should I apply only 1.04 or as asked above should I go 1.02, 1.03, 1.04...?
It's been stated that the best way to get them to re-authorize is to uncheck the DLC, then re-check them.ZaroktheImmortal wrote...
Okay, I installed the patch and now it says most of my downloadable content is "unauthorized" seriously what the hell just happened.
I actually had to allow it manually since Norton didn't detect it as trying to access the internet. I was unable to even download DLC until I did that & had to troubleshoot that issue myself.Franpa wrote...
Its a common issue with firewalls that prompt you to allow access when a program requests it at launch time. It interrupts the games attempts to initialize the video driver etc. properly since your firewall/security suite will pause the program until you respond to the question.
Some firewalls will auto-block programs if they have detected changes in the program. Try removing the permissions for DAUpdaterSvc.Service.exe & daupdater.exe, then re-allow them.

Well, there's your problem. 1.6GHz is the minimum requirement for Windows XP. You're running (presumably) Windows 7/Vista, so you need to bump your requirements up to 1.8 Ghz, and even then it's the bare minimum.ZabiGG wrote...
Intel core i7 Q720 @ 1.6 GHz
It has also been repeatedly mentioned that Mobility/other integrated graphics systems are not necessarily good enough.ZabiGG wrote...
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5870, 1 GB
And lastly, the Windows Experience Index is about as accurate as a blind sniper in a hurricane shooting at a target a mile away.
So, in summary, it's not the patch's fault, your computer's just not good enough.

This has happened to me 3 times in 3 playthroughs, all on the vanilla game (no patches whatsoever), so I doubt the recent patch did anything to it.Thandal NLyman wrote...
The Second happened when I tried to obtain information about the Carta. I suggest he might have more to say "...if there were coin involved." and he agrees for 30 silver. I tell him I'll pay, and he tells me what he knows.
When I end the conversation, I get the message: "Lost 5 copper"!?!
All in all, most of the reports from people sound pretty good. Hope it's released on 360 soon, so I can go to 1.04 and get awakening.

And... just a few minutes ago, I noticed the first undocumented fix: Corpses are now instantly lootable. That was an annoying pet peeve of mine that my game was suffering from before: sometimes I'd kill an enemy and I'd have to sit there and wait, in some cases for almost 20 seconds, before its body was lootable.. Now they instantly go shiny.

hi there i got my da/daa to work but i STILL cant see any dlc or downloade the 3 DLCs i have paid for so when will that be fixet?!?!?!
The problem is most likely that the DAUpdater service hasnt started, so you need to do that manually. Run services.msc and find it and then start it.
At least that fixed all my authorization issues.

' Er... No. That processor runs at 1.6GHz when all 4 cores are active. As soon as fewer cores are actually in use - i.e. when in the middle of playing DA:O, then the speed ramps up - up to 2.8GHz I believe. More than capable.
' And again, with regards the video card, nope. My mobile 9600M is a far lesser card than the one on this laptop and I can run it near max details / settings on next-to-highest possible resolution. While the mobile HD5870 is certainly not the same card as it's desktop brother, it's still a muscle-card - one of the best available on laptops at the moment and still significantly better than most desktop cards available right now.
' This dude's machine should run DA:O without breaking a sweat.

Damn, I almost feel...dirty... saying this after reading all the pages of complaints, but since I patched to 1.04, I have not encountered ANY of the problems that people are reporting here! This patch fixed the crashing issues I was having. It fixed the occasional lag/slowdowns I was having. It fixed the stealing bug....

The first was during the fight with the honor-bound knight in Denerim.
The second was during a fight with a mage in the side quest you start in the Back Alley of Denerim.
I don't know what's going on here, especially since I've had 2 runs perfectly fine without any problems prior to patching. I'm going to try once more tomorrow or else I'll just reinstall and skip the patching. I prefer long loading times over random crashes that sets me back 15 minutes any time. (If I save after every decision that will take more time combined than the long loading times)
Comp specs:
Operating System: Windows 7 ultimate 64 bit
AMD Athlon II X4 630 processor (quad core 2.8GHz)
8GB DDR3 RAM
Asus EAH5750 FORMULA/2DI/1GD5 (Radeon HD5750)
Do note that I had absolutely no crashes prior to this run, which is my first run with patching. Prior to this I had 2 runs without any patches.
Oh, yeah. Also just playing Origins. And I'm a male dwarf rogue.

There has been lot of crash reports from people running on windows 7 (64 bit) and the only plausible solution i've seen is downgrading your vid driver, however that is not possible for all people, i'm having the same issue, and i'm thinking about downgrading the game to the vanilla version as i had no problems then.Yakumo84 wrote...
