Edit: Hmm, it seems like completing the Amaranthine quests plus not restarting the game causes this error. Oh well

Not sure if this has been mentioned before - I stopped playing the game after getting Sigrun, since giving her a gift triggered the "+100 approval but still neutral and stuck that way forever" bug. I patched the game and resumed play, but Sigrun still hit the +100 approval bug even after patching. I didn't give her any gifts, but asking her to become a Grey Warden got her stuck on +100. I'm guessing that because Sigrun was already in my party before I patched, that is why the bug still occurred?

I ran into that problem when I reinstalled & didn't clear my directories beforehand. Here's how you fix it:alan27 wrote...
i can't install the 1.04 patch. it says
'an error occured applying the 1.04 update to your version of Dragon Age: Origins [36]'
can anyone tell me the solutions? thx.
1. Back up any saves/MODs you wish to keep to another folder [optional].
2. Uninstall your game.
3. Delete the directory that the game was installed to as well as the BioWare folder in your My Documents folder.
4. Reinstall Origins.
5. Reinstall Awakening if you have it (if not, skip this step)
6. Patch with the latest patch.
7. Restore any saves/MODs that you backed up before uninstalling.
1. Make sure that daupdater.exe & daupdatersvc.service.exe is allowed to connect to the internet through your firewall.Sephiroth1111 wrote...
OKAY THANKS FOR SCREWING UP BIG BIOWARE!!!!!!!
I just installed 1.04
then uninstalled and reinstalled the game to get it to register on the game that the patch went thru (i also reinstalled than after i reinstalled the game) and now it wont download my old DLC on top of the DLC I JUST BOUGHT!!!! (the whole reason I updated the patch in the first place) so yea thanks bioware thanks alot
I JUST WANT TO PLAY MY GAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I personally reverted back to 1.02a when I ran into these kind of problems. You can get it from here. Don't expect to be using any DLC that requires 1.03 on this patch, however.Sephiroth1111 wrote...
mildmort 2/3 or my DLC yea i could play with 1.0 but the hole reason i downloaded the patch was because i just bought return to ostigar and it said i need 1.02 and since it wont just let me download that i had to uninstall and reinstall my game then reinstall the patch to get the game to register the patch and now it wont even download the DLC

Is 1.03 a pre-requisite for 1.04??
Or is 1.04 a standalone 'cumulative' patch?
I think it's the latter but I'm not sure.

You're in completely the wrong place. There is some info in the "patch release for XBox" thread in this forum, but most of it seems to be in the XBox technical support forum. The devs appear to have confirmed that yes, there is a real and significant issue for certain XBox variants.RellikReed wrote...
HELP PLEASE, CAN NOT FIX!
After installing the update for Dragon Age Origins, for the Xbox 360,
ignore that. its a cumultive patch, it will install everything from 1.1-.1.4ladydesire wrote...

It depends; if you just have Origins installed, you can just go straight to 1.04 without any other patches, but if you have Awakening installed as well, you will have to have patch 1.03, since there is no way to install AWakening without it.
Installing the expansion will update the game to version 1.03, regardless of what version it was before - there is no need to install the 1.03 patch after doing so. After installing the expansion, you can install the 1.04 patch and you're good. 1.04 does not require patches to be applied before it - it includes all fixes from previous patches.ladydesire wrote...

New game with new character and 1.04 patch: Sigrun quest still won't trigger if Law and Order is completed.
Bioware, are you even trying? Do you realize that people care way more about companion quests than the generic "slay the bandits" quests?

It seems to me that this is an announcement forum, not a troubleshooting or bug-reporting forum. I only know this because nobody from Bioware has responded to the numerous questions posed regarding the expected/hoped-for fixes that are not present in this patch. I suggest you take your complaints to the appropriate support forum for your platform. At least Nathan Willis has attempted to respond to some problems people are having.
As for this fix in particular, it is one of many day one bugs that continues to be ignored by Bioware. Another such issue is Find Vitals. It is beyond my understanding how bugs of this nature - those that fundamentally *break* the very content that the expansion promises - don't merit Bioware's attention.
I would be happy to be proved wrong. But I'm gonna bet "no".BrunoB1971 wrote...
mmmm, i wonder if we are still gonna get some type of weekly update now that the patch is released.....

That might be working as intended, and not a bug (as the wikia notes, the name of Sigrun's quest suggests that showing a zeal for law and order might make her less inclined to reveal it).Great Mike wrote...

I've now completed Awakening again, this time after starting a new game with patch 1.04. I only noticed two bugs:
1) Duncan's Dagger had a copy of Duncan's Sword in one of its rune slots. (I hear this can also happen with Cailan's armor, but I didn't bring that so I didn't see it.) I gather this is a pre-existing issue with some items imported from Return to Ostagar and not specifically related to patch 1.04
2) My Warden still didn't get a letter from Zevran. Is it meant to turn up in your inventory to begin with, or do you get it some other way? They did meet up again in the epilogue, though, so I didn't mind too much.
