New game with new character and 1.04 patch: Sigrun quest still won't trigger if Law and Order is completed.
Bioware, are you even trying? Do you realize that people care way more about companion quests than the generic "slay the bandits" quests?

That might be working as intended, and not a bug (as the wikia notes, the name of Sigrun's quest suggests that showing a zeal for law and order might make her less inclined to reveal it).

Except for the fact that it works fine on Xbox regardless of completing that quest.  It's only on PC and PS3 that the quest won't spawn.  And all it takes is having the quest in your log, not completing it - at which point you haven't yet sided with the guard.  Some people have also encountered this problem when starting Smuggler's Run, and others have had the quest glitch if they give Sigrun a gift before taking her to Amaranthine.  The suggestion that it's due to Sigrun's reticence to discuss her past with a Lawful character is just a community-created explanation.

Indeed mainly because the quest begins totally in a casual way, with Sigrun who collides with a npc while  you are walking in Amaranthine.. The quest begins in that moment.. It's not that Sigrun come to you suddenly and tell you "Hey Warden, I have to confess you a thing.." but it begins in an "accidental" way..
And the thing that happens if you complete the Law&Order quest too early is just that this "accidental" encounter doesn't happen, so it's 100% a bug...

So Sigrun had a personal quest? I didn't even know. That's what bugs make to you :/

A lot of people never discovered her quest, since it's completely illogical to avoid doing Amaranthine quests until after you recruit her.  On your next playthrough, pick her up before doing any quests in Amaranthine and you'll get this one.  :)  There's also a Velanna personal quest that many people didn't ever know about because it had an extremely random trigger rate.  Sounds like that one at least got fixed.

Ok, that one, I didn't get it neither :P.
But I got Velanna last on my playthrough (only one so far) so that's at least understandable.

It's enough you don't do Law&Order... When you arrive at Amaranthine both Constable Aidan and a Shady Character come to you asking for help... Don't go to talk with either of them so you won't start that quest

But all the other quests in Amaranthine can be done...

Maybe my memory's foggy since it's been a while since I've played Awakening (waiting for the patch 1.04), but I recall that you had to talk to these two guys in Amaranthine before you can begin the quest to acquire Sigrun.  It is only logical that while you're in Amaranthine to pursue some of the other quests there - namely the Law and Order quest where you root out the black marketeers - but doing that prevents Sigrun's personal quest from triggering.

So, if I get this right, you have to go to Amaranthine, talk to these two guys then leave Amaranthine without doing any quests in order to go acquire Sigrun, then come back to Amaranthine to trigger her personal quest.  That does not make sense!  Posted Image

And this is not a bug . . . this is the way it's supposed to work.

Can anyone tell me one small problem. I have a gtx 260 super oc, its like a gtx275. I have disabled vertical sync in the game, and i have a maximum of 60 fps, with intel i5 and 6gb ddr3.

I have searched on youtube, and i saw other videos with persons that have a ati radeon hd5770( witch is "weaker" that my gtx260. And it had 120 fps. My video card is not that good for dragon age? In the system requirements is says nvidia 8800GTS.

After some more extensive play-time I've found that while there are a few things that have been fixed, there are still an extremely large number of bugs with the game and there are some new ones I did not experience before (such as dialogue being commonly out of sync with lip movements of NPCs). In addition, some of the bugs which were supposedly fixed are still present.

You know what BioWare? After all the bad news about Dragon Age 2, The Old Republic and Mass Effect 2 being a let-down, I really think I'm done with your games. Most developers don't get it all right the first time, we understand. Something like five patches, later, though, and Dragon Age still has significant issues that make the game far less enjoyable than it should be - it's still at the point where I can't successfully play through Awakening without missing out on a good deal of content that simply doesn't work, crashes the game, etc. This is unacceptable from a developer that considers itself world-class, and frankly, you've had more than a year to clean up your act already. I firmly refuse to purchase all future BioWare games or add-ons. There are other developers who deserve my money far more.

I won't, kiddo.  You should try to get that fixed, by the way.  Someone might get hurt.

I have a small request. Can we have an option to set where subtitles appear? I generally prefer reading subtitles at the botton of the screen while in current implementation they're on the top.

An option to set this would be highly appreciated.

Thanks.

I'm having a problem related to this patch, I think. I installed 1.0.4 and everything seemed to work great. Then today I purchased Leliana's song DLC, but it won't download and it says it requires 1.0.3 on the screen. So now I'm not sure what to do.

I don't know if this a problem on my side when I start a new game in Awakening. Mairi doesn't have any spells or skills that I can't even adjust. Her quick bar is empty as she doesn't have anything at all.<_<:innocent: What is with the unauthorized content?

It's related to the L&O/Smuggler's Run quests in particular, which are already buggy.  If you complete L&O, the Smuggler's Run starting quest will still show up on your map as a quest location.  You can then talk to the innkeeper and have the option to complete the first Smuggler's Run quest even after finishing L&O.  At that point the guards become hostile and you've already alienated the smugglers, so basically you fail both.  There's something just wonky in the coding on these two quests, and sadly, it didn't get fixed in the patch.

Unfortunately you kinda need to play Awakening through with a step by step bug list if you don't want to miss any content.  All the patch did was fix a few technical issues, none of the quest related ones.  Very sad.

Might be they have more processing power than you do (would be easier to tell if we knew your specs).  RAM can play a factor as well.  Even though I have plenty of RAM, I have just barely minimum requirements as far as processing power goes, so I'm lucky to even reach 60 FPS on my card.  Kind of ironic to have a better video card than my processer; just waiting until I have enough money to rebuild my computer.

This happened to me too, but it was becouse i had the "no follower autolevel" mod installed. It works in origins, but in awakening prevents all the npc to have talents point upon recruiting.
I unchecked the mod, restarted a new awakening campaign and everything was fine.

Not sure about anyone else, but I still haven't gotten my letter from Leliana.  Played for about 3-4 hours & completed the Awakening after patching, no letter ever arrived.  Oh well.

It's a codex entry, not an inventory item.
I had mine :P

You know, I was happy when I saw this announcement after stopped playing DA:O for 2 months back then with WinXP. I saw this topic, and downloaded the patch, my PC was upgraded to Windows 7 but then I got an error while updating. Okay, I read the important post saying to fix this I had to uninstall and reinstall. Alright, fine I can do that. Everything is uninstalled, now time to reinstall, put in the CD key and next, next and this popped out at 30%
Urgh... I searched via google but no solution. That's it I give up as a PC Gamer.

Edit: It seems to work now... weird...:wizard:

since the patch and repatch on my 360 elite those numbers have been appearing over my characters heads which never happened to me before and only happens when "help tips" show up, then my game crashes. Turning "show tips" on or off doesnt matter they still show up and cause the numbers to appear and crash my game. this only happened with a character i loaded after both patches and clearing my cashe, but i did play like thirty hours of other characters between the patch and repatch so i reallllly hope when they patch the patch they patched those saves dont become unuseable. =(

The game has been working fine for me since the patch, the only problem I had was getting the can not connect to dragon age servers pop up during the first few hours of play, seems that was a problem before the patch anyway and it's not happened since.

Game is running smoothly, I've had one crash but that's all.

I have to question why the Silverite Mine bug where you lose all your gear and never get it back hasn't been fixed though, thankfully I know about it so can take the steps needed but I feel sorry for the poor buggers who lose all their gear because they don't realise.

Oh crap! I forgot to rename the BioWare savegame folder, now all my screenshots, DLCs, and mods gone. Blergh... my schedule is tight, looks like I'm going to restart next weekend.

At any rate, I played it for an hour, no crash so far and I can see little performance increase in Denerim. It's not so significant though.
