It would be nice if we could get a patch doesn't cause more problems than it solves.

it doesnt cause any problems though. it fixes more of 1.03's problems but some still remain to be fixed is all.

Some folks are reporting that it basically fixes nothing for them, which is probably annoying to the patch team and QA people.

well they are wrong, it does fix things, just because they dont pay mind to anything but what is broken

ad for the autourizeation problem, i cant say anything about it because i never had the problem, and i dont see how the  patch can cause that problem for only a few computers. it seems more of a autentication problem with the nwtwork then a problem with the game.

yes, but it does seem like authorization takes longer than it used to. i have noticed improvements after the patch, so no complaints here.

It's kind of hard not to notice when your game crashes under the same circumstances two patches in a row, especially when the patch you're installing is supposed to fix that problem.

I waited for this patch before installing Awakening. I'm probably about halfway into a 2nd major quest line.

I'm noticing longer DLC load times. Typically I have to wait for the blood to drip off Asala at least twice and then hit resume 3 times before the game will load.

I'm also noticing some choppiness (kind of like an earthquake) in cutscenes, with the occasional odd viewing angle.

Otherwise, knock on wood, everything seems to be working ok.

so lets see... because it crashes at one point... and still does... other things cant be fixed? fail, i already said that there are still some reminents unfixed. that crash is one of the unfixed

Agreed.  The patch fixed a lot of problems, but didn't quite get all of the ones caused by 1.03.  The authorization process for DLC definately takes longer, but it will authorize for most people if the wait long enough (I used the Downloadable Content screen as an indicator when it has authorized).

Yes, DLCs are certainly taking longer to load under 1.04 than 1.03. I get around it (of sorts) by not logging in each time I play (doesn't need authorisation if you don't login to your bioware account), and only doing so when I want my character updated online ;-)

Lucky you and your machine! :P 1.03 actualy worked better on my PC than 1.04! :o I now get frequent CTD's with 1.04, before that it was very, very rare. :? Plus I believe that there are still many , many (new) memory leaks in it.

But that is my opinion, not yours. :)

Yes, it must be a problem with the network. Even though it never happened before the patch, and it's more than just a few computers. There's been quite a lot of people saying they have the exact same problem and other issues caused by this patch.

That question is a little out of place here.  Was not really a bug I know of.  But with the correct specialisation, sure, a Mage can wear heavy armour.

"The correct specialisation" being just a high enough "Strength" attribute for the armor in question.  If ,as a Mage, you select the Arcane Warrior  specialization, (after unlocking it and being given the opportunity, of course) all item attribute checks are then re-directed to use your "Magic" level instead.

Some particular (unique) items have restrictions of their own to a specific class, or even a specific character, but that's a different issue.  Image IPB

All true.  But what Mage is going to have a high enough Strength to wear the sort of armour implied by the OP?

Well, just to test things, I started a new Mage in DA:A, and bumped Strength to 30, Magic to 30, and split the rest between Will and Const. Fought the first battle, then donned Mhairi's heavy chain.   (Wonder what she  thought I was doing!?!)
Actually liked the result, and might play this PC for a while!  Image IPB

Update. After the CTD I reported earlier, I only had one more the rest of Origins. No crashes in the final battle.

So far in Awakenings, playing through Vigil's Keep and starting the town of Amaranthine, I've just experienced one single CTD early on.

So so far, maybe it has improved things.

I don't know....in my years of troubleshooting, that would generally lead me to conclude that it could be something about my system causing the problems??  :P

Like what Internet Tech Expert? Do diagnose what causes the Mana Clash crash? All my drivers are updated, I keep my system clean, windows updated, Direct X is fully updated with the 9c redistributable and the most recent runtimes. Is there anything I missed?

I don't know, but I'm pretty sure this game shouldn't need a magical magical maguffin to run well.

(i play DA:O (no addon) with 1.02 all the time, no problems so long, but now it tells me all my DLC is NOT authorized)

*edit*: hm... i restarted system, game, etc. and now it works without any problems - strange Oo(1.02)

after i finish the SC2 campaign, i will move onto to this. it would be cool to get another full blown expansion (awakenings didn't quite do it for me) before DA2 is released.

You're right, considering that the reports that I've seen are on specific CPUs and Operating System versions (mainly AMD Phenom II Tri-core and Windows 7 64 bit or Quad Core Intel And Win7 64 bit).

The Silverite Mine issue... if I recall, while I was playing the 360 version, it appeared that the oversight was that there were two objects--the door, and a "door" directly behind the door--and that the second "door" could still be targeted while the first was closed. The second "door" was also lock-pickable, and once the lock was picked, targeting it again triggered entry into the mines. The upshot is that the object that acted as the transition into the mines was placed too close to the door--had it been placed further back, no such issue would have arisen, as no character would have been able to approach near enough to the object to trigger it. There's really no way to, say, disable that second "door" until after the encounter with Velanna?

Bummer.

Should still be able to reguardless of the version number being red.  Just make sure that you've authenticated with the servers before downloading it.

I've tried re-installing the entire game and everything still this latest patch won't allow authorised downloadable content. Seriously fix this patch. I'm going to try going back to try re-installing and going back to the previous patch.

You are correct, Mana clash will cause the game to crash 40 percent of the time (the game definitely has memory leaks and will crashes for no reason whatsoever)... also Shock Wave will cause the game to crash 2 out of every 5 uses. My system is clean, fresh install, all drivers are up to date as is the bios... hardware Asus MB 5850 video card intel quad core, Win 7 64 bit. It is easy to see why the Witcher had so many issues, when you look at the engine they used, it is garbage.

Oh really? Is that why most of my downloadable content says its' "unauthorised" and no matter what I can't fix it. And it tells me I can load any of my saved games because of this.

Try this:
1.  Backup any screenshots, MODs & saves you wish to save.  [optional]
2.  Uninstall the game.
3.  Delete the folder that the game was installed into.
4.  Delete the BioWare folder in your My Documents folder.
5.  Delete the /Documents and Settings/All Users/Application Data/BioWare folder.
6.  Reinstall Origins.
7.  Reinstall Awakenings if you have it.
8.  Repatch.
9.  Reallow daorigins.exe, DAOriginsLauncher-MCE, daupdater.exe & daupdatersvc.service.exe through your firewall.
10.  Start the game & change the priority of daorigins.exe to Low in your Task Manager (Ctrl+Alt+Del).
11.  Log into your account in game.
12.  Wait for your account information to update on the Downloadable Content screen.
13.  Download one DLC at a time, waiting for it to finish installing before starting another one.  Repeat as many times as needed.
Make sure to change the priority back to Normal before playing.

Hey you all, I have quickly overlooked this thread, and I just wanted to tell about my problem, if it is okay?

Hmm, just reinstalled game and patch. 1.04

Game still freeze/crashes after a bit of gaming.

(Yes, I have tried running the game in compality mode and "as administrator")

But still no luck :'(

Love the game, but since patch 1.03 I haven't played the game :'/
