It's kind of hard not to notice when your game crashes under the same circumstances two patches in a row, especially when the patch you're installing is supposed to fix that problem.
I don't know....in my years of troubleshooting, that would generally lead me to conclude that it could be something about my system causing the problems??
Like what Internet Tech Expert? Do diagnose what causes the Mana Clash crash? All my drivers are updated, I keep my system clean, windows updated, Direct X is fully updated with the 9c redistributable and the most recent runtimes. Is there anything I missed?
I don't know, but I'm pretty sure this game shouldn't need a magical magical maguffin to run well.
You are correct, Mana clash will cause the game to crash 40 percent of the time (the game definitely has memory leaks and will crashes for no reason whatsoever)... also Shock Wave will cause the game to crash 2 out of every 5 uses. My system is clean, fresh install, all drivers are up to date as is the bios... hardware Asus MB 5850 video card intel quad core, Win 7 64 bit. It is easy to see why the Witcher had so many issues, when you look at the engine they used, it is garbage.
These spells still cause crashes because nothing was done to fix them in the 1.04 update. Bioware waited for a month and a half before even hinting that a patch was going to be created, then another month and a half before any updates started showing up listing what was going to be in the update. These issues were never brought up, leading one to believe that Bioware either dismissed them or remains ignorant/indifferent to their impact on gameplay.

Did you miss the sound driver update listed in the reported bug fixes? And did you miss Thandal NLyman's listing of updated files somewhere in this thread? Bioware did try to fix the problem; it just so happens that it doesn't seem to have worked for the people most affected by it. Just because you don't think Bioware cares doesn't make it true.

But playing now and it's crashing all the time, crashed twice on me while fighting the sloth demon in the fade, crashed again fighting Uldred shortly afterwards, plus plenty of other crashes before that. The game is technically still playable but it's pretty damn frustrating to get close to the end of a battle twice only to have the game crash. The game is half crippled now as i'm just worrying about whether this spell or that spell is going to crash the game.

When I notice the video display slowing down, it's a sign to me that memory is being chewed up. At that point, I save my game and Exit then do a Resume from the main DA menu. The save file is loaded up and I can carry on again without any video lag. Suggest that you might try doing the same before those big battles with lots of scary spells and see if it works for you.

My next attempt is going to be to disable my on-board "integrated HD audio", and install an old SoundBlaster 5.1 card I have laying around, and see what happens. I think it HIGHLY likely that the CtD problem revolves around the interaction between audio events and the underlying OS (I'm on Win7-64bit with 8GB.) Every CtD I experience has some sound effect associated with it; AoE spells firing, auto-saves triggering, doors opening for a major area transition.
I've realized that I can almost generate a "crash on-demand" by hitting "Stealth" at the same time as the auto-pause for combat kicks-in when I move the controlled character into range. I can hear the first half-second of the "whoooosh" as the sight-obscuring haze swirls, then... all goes black!

Can someone please help me?
I have installed the game and I'm playing it right now, but i get pink and green and red colors all the time on top of the game, it's very annoying! Is this because my pc can't run this game, or do I need to reinstall it or something?
I know this isn't the place to post this but I don't know where else!
Thank you for your time:)

I think you hit the nail on the head; since most of the crash reports have been on tri- or quad-core machines running Vista 64 or Win7 64, I'm suspecting there is either an issue with how the OS Sound Drivers interact with FMOD, or there is a load balancing issue that is spawning a second sound thread, which triggers the crash.

I sounds like either your monitor or video card is going. Do you have that problem out of game also? What are your system specs?Royal15 wrote...

There is a forum with the same root as this one, which mentions "Dragon Age" and "PC Tech Support" in the title. Not hard to find! You'll likely get better/faster responses there http://social.biowar...tegory/58/index .
In either case, the symptoms are less likely a problem with the overall system than with the obvious candidates of your video card or it's 'drivers'. Posting your specifications will help others to help you better. Mine for example, I post like thus:-

games with zero issues with much higher requirements then this one.
Considering how long quad cores and 64 bit coded OSs have been on the
market, there is no excuse. They couldn't even be bothered to fix
simple missing textures, for the wagon or camp fire, but continue to use
these place-able objects... several quests are still broken or bugged.
One thing that keeps BW where they are is the quality of their writing
team, the same cannot be said for their technical and graphical
expertise. Memory leaks occur in several areas of the game world still.
It is also magic based abilities that causes the CTDs more then any
other action in the game, if not all of them... if it was a sound issue,
why are no other sound effects triggering them. This is supposedly a
platform game, and for a platform it has to many issues, they continue
to pump out out content (for that I am grateful) but their platform
looks and feels like an old 5 year old game engine, as does the quality
of the graphics.

It looks like between all the Payed DLC 2 Expansions and the New Dragon Age 2 and Starwars Online nothing getting done right.
There just plain spread to thin. Well I am getting Dragon Age 2 and KOTOR Online get as soon as pigs fly!
There workman ship and customer performance has become crap.I will NEED PROOF that this has changed before I give them anther 60.00 dollars !

1.04 patch is FAIL. Never used 1.03 but I hear that was FAIL as well.
Why bother with the new DLC when this patch is annoying the hell out of your customers with random CTD's? Where is the response of "We're working on the situation?"

I've bought and downloaded all the DLC's except Darkspawn and they work fine. So, as far as I'm concerned, Bioware keep making those DLC's!!!! Can't wait for Golems!!!

Somebody mentioned that the Blood Dragon Armor was getting lost during the Dwarven Commoner storyline. Looks like it's been fixed as far as that storyline is concerned; still need to test the Dwarven Noble storyline (which is where I was having the problem in 1.03).
I've completed the Dwarven Noble storyline, and retained all DLC items, since 1.04. So considered it tested and consider the text passed.
In any case, I wonder if they will start updating us on 1.05 to keep ironing out the remaining bugs.
