and what's worse is if you had any mods at all, this method has you deleting all of those as well, meaning you have to re-install every mod you ever downloaded or created. and after all this it still doesn't work.

the only method that worked for me is to go into the My documents Bioware Dragon Age Settings folder and rename the Profile.dap file. and as i wrote previously, I had to do this every time before loading the game. Luckily, i finished everything but the latest DLC. but to get it to recognize the reward for a DAO awakenings save for import, I had to do the same renaming thing.

what gets me is the notes on this patch actually state that it fixes authorization issues.

I guess we should be happy that the Morrigan DLC just announced is the final DLC for DAO.

Imagine my face when I saw the patch notes said that 1.04 was supposed to REDUCE the frequency of crashes, even though I've only had 1 crash in about a week on 1.03, whereas 1.04 would give me about 3-4 a day. [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/andy.png[/smilie]

Though most people will suggest you try and get your hands on 1.03 instead.

1.04 works fine for some people.  I for one have no problems with the 1.04 patch (outside of the extended authentication times).  And on a personal note, I'd rather use 1.02a over 1.03.  I refuse to use that bugfest of a patch called 1.03 & believe the DLC that requires it is not worth the trouble that the patch causes.  Posted Image

OK, dont know if where to ask my question. Since installing the 104 patch for PC, the door for the second floor at Warden's Keep is locked and cant be picked. Was there supposed to be a key I missed somewhere? I never had a problem with that door even without lockpicking skills.

Am I to look forward to problems with this patch that I didnt have before?

I've noticed that with this patch.  Rather than making a door locked, they make the door inaccessible if you're not supposed to be able to open it at that time.  Not sure what the deal is with that DLC, but it sounds like an error with the patch.  I haven't gotten that far on the new patch yet, so I couldn't tell you if it's just you or not.

Sounds like you just need to defrag your HD.  I was having the same issue; a defragmentation fixed it for the most part.

This is ridiculous, my game lags and then locks up up when talking to the bloodmage in red cliff castle, cant get past that point. And its not my comp, i7 with 8gb of ram defragged weekly, screwed since the patch.

Just installed the new patch and oh my god the lag, it's especially bad during the dialog and cutscenes AND especially during the fighting. The game was perfectly fine during 1.03 for me and now, god please fix this :(

I seem to have a problem with this patch in that it doesnt actually change anything it says it does and it causes lag i never had (like others have mentioned).

Cold Iron and Silverite Runes above Grand Master are still classed as Armour Runes and not Weapon Runes and i dont get any letters from proir love interests...in fact, apart from the additional lag, it seems to be exactly the same as it used to be in Awakenings!!!

I still getting crashes in 1.4 Origins yet not as bad as before. So far only crashed to desktop during combat when there is an NPC mage.

Edit - ok I was wrong getting Dragon age has stopped working crash to desktop during any battle, game just seems to be unstable during combat...

So will there be a rebuild, like for NWN? Will there be a Patch 1.05? Or are we totally Sc@wed with a 60.00 dollar game that dose not work?

P.S.
When did Bioware Quality Control start to become a bad Joke?

I am getting stuck in the siege of Vigil Keep after I kill all of the children. It doesn't progress any further when capton of the guard says the all of the children are dead. This never happen with patch 1.03. Sometimes he just stands at the bottom of the stairs and won't move at all even I attack the children.:innocent: The only thing that will make the game progress is if I save Amranthine instead. I rather save the Keep instead as I have done it so many times before this patch was installed. I disabled many mods to try and get this to work but no progress period. I hope this gets fixed.

After reading this (and seeing that even one year after release this game isn't fixed, which means it simply won't be with DA2 on the horizon.) I am pretty sure I should stick with 1.02.

Too bad, too. Some of that DLC actually sounds interesting, but the time where I was willing to repeatedly restarts games just so I can at some point maybe get past the ridiculous errors are over.

I do remember Victor hinting that there would be at least one more patch.....but with all the red tape I'd say its a long way off.

I am not really sure what to do...patch 1.03 wasn't very good either. The Dragon Age Nexus managed to make the game better, but I am just bloody scared of 1.04. I don't know how I would be able to reinstall everything back to the way they were under 1.02.

I was worried about 1.04 being another bomb also, but it turned out pretty good on my computer. Only a few minor bugs from what I can see; at least it cleaned up most of the trash that 1.03 caused.

Find Vitals doesn't work - references incorrect effect.
Shale's Rock Barrage ability still doesn't work (broken in 1.03)
Stealing can't be assigned in Tactics (1.03)
Silverite Mines bug can/will lead to loss of all equipment with no valid autosaves by the time this happens (1.03)
Numerous unimplemented effects remain in the game and in new DLC content (release)
Haste bugs (release)
Spells such as Mana Clash and Holy Smite still cause crashes (1.03)

You think these are minor bugs?

The problem is that the patches are accumulative, meaning 1.04 carries over all the bad crap from 1.03. If 1.03 affected your game poorly, odds are so will 1.04. Also 1.04 introduced new problems for some people.
Like Parak, I too have not patched beyond 1.02. I bought Awakening, but never installed it cos I was waiting for a proper PC version patch. Now that Bioware has announced all effort will be on DA2, I strongly doubt we will see 1.05.
If Bioware does release 1.05, they will not fix game-play issues unless they can be resolved across all platforms. This was stated as much during the 1.04 development. So, 1.05 would be yet another half-arsed patch, ...

Guess I have been one of the lucky ones. So far the patches have fixed most of my issues and I don't get any CTD. However it would be nice to see a 1.05 patch come out to address the issues that still exist and get more pc players onboard.

Is there anywhere I can download this patch manually as a .dazip file?I'm running DAO on steam and Steam wont update it itself, so I want to install it manually, but there dousnt seem to be a manual download file anywhere.

I know Bioware has its own installer to download, but that installer tells me my version is steam and Steam will install the download and that installer wont do it for me ect.

So I realy need to be able to download the files myself. Is there anyway I can do that?

I don't think so, although you might be able to manually extract the files from the installer, but I'm not sure on this point. Failing that you should probably contact Steam support and ask them why Steam isn't updating your game.

I left about 6 months ago after uninstalling DAO and DAA, the cut sceens on my then brand new windows 7 computer were running in super slow motion, taking as much as 45 minutes and more to get through a single cut sceen.

Has this issue been fixed, by patch 1.04?

what really ticked me off was EA/Bioware making the statement that patches were a priveledge and not to be expected by the end user as their EULA states.

I am considering trying to play this game again, because i liked what of it i was able to play.

or am i wasting time because the cut sceen issues have not been resolved?

Lol I guess i should have read the posts before i posted, my questions. so patch 1.04 is just as lagy as patch 1.03

well this sucks, i got the money from DAO and DAA tied into a game i still cannot play because of lag issues that still have not been resolved.

well at least i still have my Baldurs Gate series, and Icewind dale, never winter nights, at least those games never gave me a bit of trouble, i guess the folks at bioware that worked on those games moved on and after they left, quality went out the window.

To everone that has had lag issues and crashes, just remember that EA/Bioware has said patches are a priveledge and that we the end users are not entitled to any patches period.

rememer this before you spend your money on DA2!

because you will get the same answer for problems in DA2, that patches are a priveledge not to be expected from EA and or Bioware.

to those who have had nothing but troule vote with your pocket book, by boycotting DA2!
