Is there anywhere I can download this patch manually as a .dazip file?I'm running DAO on steam and Steam wont update it itself, so I want to install it manually, but there dousnt seem to be a manual download file anywhere.

I know Bioware has its own installer to download, but that installer tells me my version is steam and Steam will install the download and that installer wont do it for me ect.

So I realy need to be able to download the files myself. Is there anyway I can do that?

I don't think so, although you might be able to manually extract the files from the installer, but I'm not sure on this point. Failing that you should probably contact Steam support and ask them why Steam isn't updating your game.

I thought about that, but I'm not sure how to get in there. I also pulled my DA folder from steam and onto my computer in a haphazard attempt to fool the installer into thinking I had a regular old Dragon Age copy on my PC, but it wasnt fooled by my clever scheme.

Both these solutions might still work, but I'd need someone a little more tech-savvy then I to tell me how. Image IPB

Steam should patch the game on it's own, although it's possible to disable automatic updates.  One thing to check is the Updates tab for the Properties of the game & make sure that automatic updates has not been disabled for it.  If it has, change it to Always keep this game up to date.  To bring this up, right-click on the game in your Steam Games Library, then click on Properties.

OK, dont know if where to ask my question. Since installing the 104 patch for PC, the door for the second floor at Warden's Keep is locked and cant be picked. Was there supposed to be a key I missed somewhere? I never had a problem with that door even without lockpicking skills.

I've noticed that with this patch.  Rather than making a door locked, they make the door inaccessible if you're not supposed to be able to open it at that time.  Not sure what the deal is with that DLC, but it sounds like an error with the patch.  I haven't gotten that far on the new patch yet, so I couldn't tell you if it's just you or not.

With patch 1.04 i have some small freeze when i talk to people and the small freeze (1 second) starts when i choose a question on the dialogue with someone.

Sounds like you just need to defrag your HD.  I was having the same issue; a defragmentation fixed it for the most part.

Thanks WonderGamer for your response. I have discovered that I needed lvl 3 lockpicking to get the door to open. So maybe it was a change in the game? Dunno.

To everone that has had lag issues and crashes, just remember that EA/Bioware has said patches are a priveledge and that we the end users are not entitled to any patches period.

No that would be wrong We Payed for a working game that was tested to work on Windows 7 32 bit and 64 Bit.
Patch 1.03 was not even tested on 64 bit (No idea if 1.04 was)

I know there just going to ignore us but legaly there criminaly libal for fraud[/i]. If they had Adequately Tested  it even in a half screwed up way they would still be civily respoceble for the games price. Unless they fixed it in a timely manor.

If you make a product and take money for that product with no intention of releasing a working Product it's a crime.
Not a saying. A Real go to Jail Crime. As in 15 years in a fedral prision.
As far as I know no one ever pushed it against Game company,It's normaly used on hardware and Auto sales.
But it's still the law in the USA. You can not take presale money for a untested product nor can you keep money from a none working product. And on my system it Freazes the OS that none working.

Will the goverment Do anything  ? Wel no I  am not stupid but wanted to be clear THEY DO LEGALY HAVE To MAKE a Patch. They can say what they like about  not entitled For Lag But it's Jail if the game crashes and they said  not entitled For Crashes. I bet there Attorneys told them to make that distinction. So there not being nice in giving us patches as there aways a First time and the real possiblity no matter how slight the a Senitor will decide to push it. And then they would go to Jail. As I would say that the product was not repaired in a timely manor and people did prepay for the DLC.

Not kidding if your a company CEO you can steal from a pention fund or investors and your ok,Heck you can even Kill a little old Lady and get away with it but never sell something under FRAUD if your a company with presales it get's Ugly.
Not that anyone will do anything but I can dream. Patches give them some legal defence if some how the impossible Happened.  And some one in the goverment did there job in Consumer Protection. (not going to happen but there is always a first time. If this was a MP4 player or a Car that did not start all the time the CEO would be in Jail by Now.

deathviper1959a wrote..  is before you spend your money on DA2!

because you will get the same answer for problems in DA2, that patches are a priveledge not to be expected from EA and or Bioware.

to those who have had nothing but troule vote with your pocket book, by boycotting DA2!

So Completely AGREE !

PS excuse my crappy typing.

after getting a new graphic card, I decided to uninstall and re install DaO and awakening and play on 1.03 patch oh my god the difference, that patch is way more stable than 1.04. Even on my new and WAY better graphic card I'm still getting stutter and lag in 1.04. I wanted to see if I got any differences between the graphic card in the newest patch. Sure I can run the game on highest settings no problem in 1.03 at all. in 1.04 lots of issues ... impossible to play. I'm gonna go back to 1.03.

nothing is wrong with my system if that's what you are implying, there is no need for me to give you my system specs, since the game is fine with the patch 1.03 and the game runs even better with my new graphic card. it's the newest patch that is not very stable.. at all. Since I'm not the only one with getting the lag and stuttering issue from it. I'm wondering if bioware will do anything about it.

What dragonsource was implying was that the newer systems seem to have the most problems with the newer patches (more cores in other words). Posting your system specs only helps with getting bugs fixed for systems with certain specs. The fact that 1.04 works better for me than 1.03 may be because I had posted my specs for my system when I relalized how bad 1.03 was (in other words, it allowed them to test the new patch on a system with the same specs as mine).

Also, if you don't mind me adding a bit WonderGamer, even if you have a brand-spanking-new graphics card that is really powerful, certain applications (a game, in this case) could have trouble running on it. If I remember correctly, most gamers with Nvidia cards were having some serious issues with patch 1.03 due to a DirectX incompatibility. But I may be wrong, my memory isn't what it use to be. Either way, it never hurts (only helps) to post system specs when posting a bug report. It doesn't mean (and nobody is implying) that there is something 'wrong' with your system.

Posting your system specs will give BioWare a baseline as to what type of system is having issues with the game and patch 1.04

How are they going to do anything about it if they don't know what system/driver configuration is having problems with it? When you're having technical issues, it's always a good idea to post your specs (as well as posting in the tech support forum).

I was not implying anything Except my system still suffers OS lock in certain combat conditions,Magic effects and so on.

And since I posted my specs so often most people here can quote them in there sleep I thought you might want to do the same.

This what we know Like WonderGamer said Older systems run smoother.(and in some cases trouble free..IE a XP 2 gig system with a 1 gig 3d Graphic card wear posted as working fine with any and all patches And I MEAN BUG FREE!) than new systems and 64 bit  with muti core is a nightmare from the deepest pit in H@LL.

That what I use a 630i quad CPU with 6gigs of ram and 2 sli linked Geforce 9800 GT cards with Windows 7 Utimate 64 bit .Onboard sound, I use a none raid setup with about 6 Tarabytes of hard drive.
So what Are your specs??

I still think there a simple incompatibility issue with Direct X and the Media format for the Magic effects used that couses my lockups. Basicaly I think there a memory Leak conected to a effect file (A magic zap sound or a Flash effect.) That Older system with one core and simple 32 bit and Direct X 9 ignore it as they can not play it and are Btter Newer systems crash on it as they can play it. But it's not Just the Direct X 9 as I ran it as just direct x 9 .And  still it crashed. I really hate this BUG!!!)

Why do I beleive this? What's my proof? Simple test I run a game all fighters no powers, no magic items,No spells, no buffs not even things like maintained powers (not even fighters effects like berserk)it is a Visable] effects testing after all and I get no crashes. And YES No fun ether playing like that. Try it.

That all. No dark evil Plot to insult your PC.
If I thought Your system Sucked  I would say that, no implying.

No if your system Sucked you would run the game smoothly and trouble and LAG free!

I've Shown you mine your turn.

Now One more time what are you SPECS Please. No Insult was ever intended!

Becouse to be perfectly honest at this point I think the comunity will fix this game before the company.

And for that we need as much info INFO on each other systems and match up bugs.

I pritty much given up trying to figure it out by myself as I started to lose sleep as it bugged me that much.

Got no more to go on with out a new Hint.

OK, call me lazy...but I'm a little unwilling to read through 30 pages of responses. I've down loaded 1.04 and it won't work. I've purchase the 2 new DLC's and they won't work because it says I don't have 1.04. I've downloaded it several times and it won't do anything. So I don't even know how game play has been affected as it doesn't do anything. Any ideas? What do I do? Also...I'm not sure about my system specs...it was built by a more tech savvy friend.

This is actually quite common after installing 1.04.  I've found that this seems to help:

try this, it's a dirct link
http://files.bioware...agonAge1.04.exe

if that doesn't work then there's something wrong on your end
try go to a reputable gaming site like IGN's - File planet
(gamespot hasn't updated to provide 1.04 yet so doubt they will)
http://www.fileplane...section/Patches

or enter the direct link into an online proxy maybe  download time will be slower though

My problem is that i can't access my DLC..

http://help.dragonag...=&p_faqid=23584

requires that you redownload all you DLC material, so watch out if you have a limited cap

The PC version of patch 1.04 has been released and is available for download at: http://social.biowar...page/da-patches

Xbox 360 and PS3 patches are currently in certification and we will announce a release date once they have passed.

Any idea when this will be?
Before DA ultimate edition comes out?

That is coming out with patch 1.04 if im not mistaken. Seems like it would be rather silly to come out on UE, before it is patched for everybody else.

Anyways, I got a question.
In the character creator, there was something of a bug when you wanted to have a beard.... it sucked out your cheaks, and made it so you were unable to edit your jaw or mouth in the CC. Made it look like you had a prepetual fishy face.

I just want to clarify when I talk about the Fish Face.

Look at my profile pic on the right side, follow the line of his face. See his hallowed out cheek?

It is actually much worse in game at certian angels, like over the shoulder shots during conversations.
Will this be fixed in the character creator in DA ultimate edition?
Do you know if the character creater has been changed to allow you to change the face even if a human male has a beard? Or at least a chinstrap?

Seems like something of a bug to me.

Finally a new patch for DAO. I just hope this will fix some major issues i´ve been encountering while playing. The camera controls can especially annoying while in combat, as you use the same mouse button for moving the camera around and activating characters/abilities and so on. More options for the customization of the graphical settings would also make a fine addition, as will more options to change camera controls. I´ve read a lot of people having the same issues, and it´s time for Bioware to enable these options for the player.

Sounds like the registry keys for the game are missing.  This can happen if you copy over the directory from another computer or restore it from a backup without actually installing the game.  You should be able to delete the directory, then install the game normally.  If you're worried about losing information (saves, MODs, etc.), you can rename those directories rather than deleting them so that the old data does not interfer with the fresh install.  You'll need to delete/rename both the directory that the game was installed to & the BioWare/Dragon Age folder in your My Documents folder.  I would suggest patching directly after doing a fresh install so that no additional information is in those folder that may interfer with the patcher.
