Thanks for your reply wonder gamer.

Sorry to ask but i don't know how to find the directory that i installed dragonage into, sorry my knowledge of computers is basic at best.

Thanks for any help you can offer

On most Windows boxes, the program installation path is:  "C:\\\\Program Files\\\\Dragon Age".
On 64-bit Windows it's "C:\\\\Program Files (x86)\\\\Dragon Age".

I understand that the install directory may be different if you used "Steam", or "Direct2Disc" to obtain your copy of Dragon Age  (I stick to physical retail discs, so can't say for sure.)

You can find out where it's installed to exactly by right-clicking on the shortcut that you use to launch the game, then clicking on Properties.  The path should be in the Target/Start in fields on the Shortcut tab.  If you have the Steam version, I would suggest you follow Thandal NLyman's instructions.

Funny...  My game installed to the default of /Games/Dragon Age when I installed it (DVD version).  Thought it was odd myself, but I guess different versions have different installation defaults.

Because they already got our money, so they (especially EA) do not care about the bugs still left in the game.

Nope, they're on to the NEW SHI* now (aka Dragon Effect 2).

We'll know for sure they're done patching the game when they remove the need for the disk. Until then, keep hoping but don't hold your breath.

I had problems with DAO, in terms of performance ( in some areas, like by the fire zone in Ostagar, i had 30fps with a gtx275, now with a gtx470 i have a great gameplay, i will finally enjoy the game fully)

So, the game has minor performance issues, but you need a strong, strong gear/ PC, to run the game great.

No patch is coming in the next days and months and possibly years for DA:O. Bioware's priorities lie elsewhere at the moment.  Bioware are currently hard at work masseffecting DA2, which takes them a considerable amount of time. You know, patches and stuff are a matter of costs and benefits, and who would bother to cook up a patch in a brief time when it is not even charged, understood?

Personally, my opinion is that something else changed along with the hardware, since I think your results with the GTX275 were not typical.  You should also be aware that plenty of owners of various Fermi 4n0 cards continue having performance and stability problems in quite a few games out right now. Similar to your experience using the GTX275, most GTX4n0 owners aren't having trouble (and if new buyers of the GTX580 are having trouble, I haven't heard of that happening).

The above was asked here in the wrong forum, and no one ever told the guy that this is not where it goes.  There is a Tech Discussion forum for the PC, the Mac, the XBox 360, etc.

There is also EA's official support site.

Come out with another patch for all systems that actually fixes the broken DLC switching from the other content. Make sure the choices in game will correctly be all acounted for DAO II unlike what happened in ME 1 transfer to ME2.

Please Bioware I beg you as a loyal buyer of your games, from all your fans to try and do this.

There are no (ZERO) BioWare resources being devoted to anything for DA:O any more. Everyone has gone onto DA2, (and beyond.)  Any future "fixes" will come from the Community.

Not saying it's right.  Also not saying I don't understand that they have to move on.  Just saying that's the way it is.

It is not right, since they -promised- two years of support, and they -still- haven't fixed all the issues.

Bioware is going downhill so fast that a rollercoaster would have a hard time keeping up.

They didn't tell you that the Two years started counting from the first day of concept, not from release date.

So they lied. Beware Fannies will still support them, even if all they got was blue screens when clicking on the Beware Icon

That's not even funny.  I doubt it was supposed to be, but it's still likely as useful as a wet stick at a firefighters' convention.  While I have become increasingly disappointed with the QoS from Bioware over the last year or more, they still haven't quite yet sunk to EA's level. In short, the odds of getting help from EA on non-account issues that you can't get on these forums is slim to none, I believe.  Maybe I am wrong, but no experience of mine or any gamers I know irl tells me otherwise.

So it's safe to assume that there won't be another patch. Sad but not really surprising. *sigh* Oh well, then I'll simply finish the buggy Awakening and the other post-Origins DLCs... Better than waiting around doing nothing.

Well, I don't want to be all doom and gloom. There might be one more. As I think was mentioned elsewhere, history teaches us that there may be one at least more patch. Within which they may include a removal of the disc check. Such a patch would probably signal the end of significant work on Dragon Age 1, for obvious reasons.

Well, like others, I wish I had read this before I patched from 2 to 4.

I just started playing again, enjoyed it and saw that there was new dlc to be had. So I patched up and installed. All of the dlc actually played well on my win 7 64bit 4 gig ram machine. It was when I went back and started using some lower lvl toons that I began crashing--alot-- in the original game. (never had issues with 1.02 on this machine).

Like all of you, frustrated and mad. but now that I've played the dlc and just want to play younger characters I would have no issue with reinstalling the game 'back' to 1.02. My question is this: Is there a way to save the charactrer files to be re-inserted into a fresh install? and if so, where are they in the directory? I have looked but didnt see anything obvious (as you might find in WoW for instance).

If any one is still trolling these forumns, any help would be welcome :)

The folder you are looking for is: Documents\\BioWare\\Dragon Age\\Characters

Copy that somewhere else, remove/reinstall, copy back and you should be good to go.
