What os are you using. because a scaringly vast majority of people with CTD problems here seem to be using vista or windows 7. Has to be something about them OS which the game just has a sulk over. Very disapointing since those two OS were the standard OS at the release of DA:0 wasn't they?
and Thandal ill suggest that memory fix flag thing to a friend. He uses Vista and gave up trying to play the game because of the crashing/memory leaks which was a shame since he was the one who introducted me to DA to begin with. Ill try to convince him to try it out at some point.

Im using windows vista 32 bit ultimate. I know this fix is for Windows 7 64 bit but it is certainly worth a try. I would try anything that could solve my crashes problem!

In the akanounnikoff's original post there are instructions for editing the win.ini file on 32-bit systems, but since they can address a MAXIMUM of 3GB (under WinXP, I think it bumps to 4GB with Vista/Win7) you don't get as much help as on a 64-bit system with more RAM, (e.g. my 8GB.)SLAYEROO wrote...
Thanks Thandal. Im gonna try this and hope it reduces the crashes. I don't have a problem if they occur every 5-6 horus whereas im having one every 1-2 hour here.

I don't think it's Vista/7, I think it's 64-bit that's the problem for DA. I ran DA:O on Vista 32-bit with 98% uptime. Personally, I have steared clear of any more expansions or DLC because of the acknowledged bugs (mostly gameplay) that are still not fixed.

Tell me: Has anyone else seen this? Does it fix anything? Or am I to expect even more bugs, dread the thought of game breaks?

Thanks for the feedback. I wouldn't be surprised since they didn't test the patch on 64bit systems from what i have heard. Also strange since my system is 64bit but XP my game seems pretty stable just the occasional bug here and there which thanks to headsup and advance warnings from the people here on this very forum i usually can find a fix or a workaround for.
@Bahlgan
1.06? 1st i have heard of this? Has there been any recent community made hot-fixes/patches which you have installed? Other then that im stumped

The numbering of the patches for the console platforms is different than for 'puters. Patch 1.04 is the last one for Windows/Mac versions. (I *think* "1.06" was an XBox-only release.)

You should go here: social.bioware.com/page/da-patches and download and install game patch 1.04.OmNefarious wrote...
sorry if this was mentioned before, but Im having issues getting the updater to work. I have windows 7 for my OS and my computer is barely 2 years old. I recently dowloaded the Shale DLC and the Golems of Amgarrak DLC. I cant play the GoA dlc because I dont have the right patch version. Ive tried to use the DAO updater and follow the guidlines shown here http://social.biowar...ntitlements.php
but nothing seems to work. Is there anything that can be done or am I up a creek?
Then re-try with the DLC.

None whatsoever. No BioWare resources are being assigned to DA:O/A at all, and probably won't ever be,.Lafiniel wrote...

This is unlikely to happen because it isn't a real issue for legitimate owners of the game (unlike the sunseting an on-line authorization checks, which they have indicated they will probably do for other games.)

Erm, yes it is!
It's only an issue for legitimate owners of the game, logically - how could the patch be useful to anyone else, when anyone playing any gamethey haven't legitimately bought, must presumably be able to play without the DVD already?
Games that run without having to hunt the DVD are delicious - the DVD doesn't get scratched, you can play straight away, and you can put your games away for a nice tidy desk/room.

But your concern about the disc itself being subject to physical damage is a real (if low-likelihood) one. Go through EA Customer Support. You can "replace" your disc-based copy with their Digital Download one at no cost. Explain that your disc is not readable, and they'll work with you to do so. You'll need your CD-Key, (and the disc version associated with that key will no longer be vaild!)
See? Sometimes even EA can address customer needs.

With Neverwinter Nights, when it had reached the end of its (much longer) patching cycle, they included a no-disc patch. It would not be a bad thing to do so here.
Yeah be nice one of the reasons why i always buy digital so i never need a disk and considering it could be digitally bought just means its possible.

Amusingly, my one small problem with the stats went, but loads of other issues were introduced, including broken portrait upload.
