None whatsoever.  No BioWare resources are being assigned to DA:O/A at all, and probably won't ever be,.

This is unlikely to happen because it isn't a real issue for legitimate owners of the game (unlike the sunseting an on-line authorization checks, which they have indicated they will probably do for other games.)

It's pretty sad that they won't, if you ask me, and it sets quite the precedent for all of their newer games.

Why should I support a company that drops support for their last game and moves on to the next one without so much as a second thought?

But they have  had "second thoughts".  Almost a year of them.  Four major patches, at least two minor ones, plus the updates to the RtO and WH DLCs.  You can hardly call that "abandonning the game after release."

What remains are:

a) The limited set of technical issues that depend primarily on the player's specific hardware/software configuration (the "CtD problems".)  At this point these are either so few as to be ignored, or are related to the next one.

B) Limitations of the Eclipse game engine itself, the "memory leak" problem being the most obvious.  Nothing the DA team can do about that.

c) Some plot flag and conversation bugs that don't break the game's major questlines.  "Oh well...  Doesn't keep you from playing and enjoying the game." (And most have Community-developed fixes or work-arounds anyway.)

As far as DA:O is concerned, I think BioWare can safely say, "Our work here is done."

I think differently.  For one, I'll add d) missing set items.  Now, some of these may or may not be plot related but they are things that a lot of us were looking for, for a long time.  I imagine that they are simpler to fix than obscure random bugs.  Whether my "imagining" is correct or not, it's not the gamer's fault that fixing that lot comes up against some company enforced size constraints or whatever.

Gaming, especially adventure and RPG gaming, has an above average amount of what back in my day was called "very fussy people".  Nowadays, people like me are called "having OCD type characteristics".  I wonder how many people out there playing this sort of game would accept the occasional crash, etc. but would rather have everything in the game that was supposed to be in it.  That's another question though.

Either way, I think your a-b-c list is incomplete, and thus used as the foundation for an erroneous premise.

@shinnsfortress;

My point was not that they'd fixed everything.  There will always be "more that could be done."  And obviously there are still problems (although personally, I would put "Item Sets" at about the bottom of any priority list.)   It was that they'd fixed as much as they were ever going to: as much as any complex program that has reached the end of it's development cycle is ever going to have fixed by the company that wrote it.

And to the extent that the Community wants/is able to do anything about what problems remain, it probably will.  Eventutally.

But BioWare has produced a wonderful game, maintained it for over a year, fixed the most troublesome of its problems (except those of a tiny fraction of players as noted in my post above, for whom an individual diagnosis and correction would have to be attempted) and established a flourishing group of talented modders who continue to create both content and corrections for the game.

Dragon Age is totally playable as-is, with nothing that prevents it from being played "as intended".  And so, they're done and have moved on.

You start up Dragon Age while connected to Xbox Live. You then get a prompt for a patch, if it's not already installed. Just accept and the patch will apply automatically.

FYI for DAO PC Users... Bioware *is* working on a 1.05 patch to deal with some outstanding issues.  They're in the process of complining a list of potential issues to be addressed.  Check out this thread in the PC Tech Forum:

Yeah, this is great news!  I really liked Luke Barrett's consolidated list of issues. But I also noticed it appears that the emphasis of any work will be on the remaining game-stopping faults, ("unable to authenticate" and "crashing") not the mis-set plot-flags, or ghost quest-markers/codex entries...

Which is fine by me! Posted Image

I don't understand. I installed my DAO I saw all my DLC's downloading. Then I Istalled this patch and everything crashed. Yeah it looks just lame I had bought 7 DLC's And thanks to this patch Now my DAO doesn't see any of them. And Installed DLC (That I havent even Installed is Not authorised) Any suggestions? I don't understand how this patch can crash game like this. Cause DLC's requires that patch. Im deeply disapointed. Because I spent money and cannot even enjoy the game. I hope someone will help with this issue.

@Narmontas;

Not sure if you already got this sorted, but the easiest way to recover from that sort of thing is to do a complete un-/re-install.  All of your DLC is still "yours", and will re-download for free once you've re-installed the game and authenticated to the EA servers.

If you've already played the game and have characters/saves/mods you want to keep, there's a couple of other steps you might want to take (PM me if you need to.)  Otherwise, delete the entire folder "/[user's documents]/Bioware/Dragon Age/" and everything in it after you use the "Uninstall" routine.

Takes time, and is a general pain, I know.  (Did it multiple times when trying to isolate some patch 1.03 issues last year.)
But it does work! :wizard:

That pleases me quite a bit.  I had actually given up hope on a 1.05 patch.  As someone who found Dragon Age 2 to be a let down, it pleases me to know that Bioware is still willing to put some work into polishing up Dragon Age Origins.
