This patch is worse than the one before. Please help me remove it from my STEAM game. The game keeps crashing every 30 minutes instead of every 2 hours or so. Wow. And I thought it was bad before

Is this bug only happening to STEAM games? My DA and Awakening were installed direct from CD; I don't trust downloading games - DLC yes but not entire games - too much can go wrong and it's a pain when you have to re-install.

Has anyone seen Awakening item names being replaced by reference numbers after installing this patch?

Human Noble female, Elven mage male. All completely fine.
Because I wanted to dry dwarven noble now and I heard about the DLC-glitch I decided to update.
Now I'm in Lothering and the game crashed twice completely randomly while I was just walking around...

And also if I reinstall completely from scratch... should I apply only 1.04 or as asked above should I go 1.02, 1.03, 1.04...?

Played with 1.00 a long time, since I didn't have any problems. Though sometimes long loading times.

Same here. The game is now completely stable for me. I played for 4 straight hours last night and it didn't crash once. And even the occasional slowdowns I was suffering from in city areas like Denerim have ceased.MrFoxxi wrote...
I don't have any crashings after installing this patch. And the game runs more smoothly so I'm more or less satisfied so far
Load times are quick again. Pickpocketting now works 100%.

Well, it never had this problem before. And it looks like I'm not the only one having this problem. Seems like this new patch screws up the downloadable content.
If you have patience and wait for about 20 seconds, the content will authorize. Load the game, count to 20, then load a save game. You should be good to go.

And I thought it was bad beforeI'll add camp won't boot from Denerim, and I have to skip to Soldier's Peak before I head there for it to load at all. Oh, and I forgot... I have to wait 2 minutes before loading any save before my DLC is even acknowledged.... bad... really bad.
It's not the game, it's your system.
Clean up your PC, reinstall the game and try again. The patch and game via Steam work great.

No, not it won't. I already tried waiting. It isn't going to work.

Hehe, I love people who rush to install the latest patches. They're like lab mice and don't even realize it.
I'll be waiting for 4.0a or whatever the hotfix will be called. Kudos to Bioware for putting so much work into this latest patch though. I can't wait for the all clear to install it.Bioware.
Yes it is bad that PAYING CUSTOMERS have to do the Beta Testing but do keep in mind it can't possibly be cheap to buy 10,000 different computer parts and the man power to reconfigure computers all the time to test every possible hardware configuration, neither is it possible to do that in a timely manner.
Then you have to test the majority of software/driver configurations... good luck there.Instead of being nasty you could have used the forum Private Messaging system to remind him. I doubt he will feel like helping you after you have been nasty to him.NKKKK wrote...

Hey victor, how about you fix the textrues on some of
those armors now?
Yeah, I don't think that's part of
Victor's job description. Any way, not extensively tested this patch,
but it's worrying that the crashing persists. I'm just waiting then for
this to affect me. If it does, I'm shelving this and just going with the
xbox version... very sad.
When I mean you, I
mean Bioware. Also victor, you haven't responded to a week old post in
which you'd tell me you'd answer me something. Not very cool on your
part.
Why do you think I'm posting here? I've reminded all last week about something he'd say he'd do for me, he hasn't even the decency to respond and say "ok look, I can't do anything"

Its a common issue with firewalls that prompt you to allow access when a program requests it at launch time. It interrupts the games attempts to initialize the video driver etc. properly since your firewall/security suite will pause the program until you respond to the question.Gaxhung wrote...
Hi Bioware,
Still a problem with the intro logo animation causing machine to freeze when program focus changes to desktop.
Here is what happened. My Zonealarm firewall asked for permission as game is loading up, it takes focus away from DAO to show a dialog box about allowing net access. 1st one ask for internet access, way at the start of loading, so no issues. The 2nd one asks about DAO accepting internet access from outside, this happened while the red dragon intro logo movie is playing. This caused my PC to freeze, tried this 2 times, can be replicated.
Easily solved by simply allowing access manually in Zonealarm before game launch. But please make note of this for DA2.
Thanks.
