Do you use console commands?
I have a very good system and play at max graphic setting. It never lags, loading time is about 15 sec and my game crashes only when i enable the console, wich is not an official feature.
I played several hours with patch 1.04 and while not noticing any performance improvment i did not run in any inconvenient too.
And now awakening is properly working and finally it's playable so i'm fine with 1.04
The only problem are first day bugs/glitches that have never been addressed, and a way too easy difficulty lvl even in nightmare.
What i would most appreciate is a patch that gives us another difficulty level harder than nightmare, and anyway i strongly hope that bioware goes on in patching and fixing the game. The 1.04 is very appreciated, but much work must still be done!

I salute you for getting this patch out. Now I expect you to work on those "minor" bugs. And I hope this wont take you 7 months.

I've edited plenty of Wikia pages, and the fact that something is listed as a bug (by one player) does not mean that BW considers it a bug. It's been reported several times as a bug, but BW has never acknowledged it...and in my mind that means it might actually be working as intended. Due to all the approval/quest issues in Awakening, I always go and get each of the companions and take them to the Joining as early as possible--so I've never tested some of the alternatives--and I *do* think personally that it's a bug.Hammer6767 wrote...

Can anyone confirm whether or
not Sigrun's side quest in the city is fixed? For mine, the woman she
is supposed to bump into won't appear since I already did the "Law &
Order" side quest. Does 1.04 fix that?
From
everything I've seen (I've not tested this yet specifically) I don't
think that Sigrun's companion quest is going to trigger differently in
1.04. In fact, the idea that "Sigrun's Roguish Past" can't be resolved
if you follow the Law and Order path actually makes some sense....so
this may have been Operating As Designed from the beginning.
First time I am hearing this. It is listed as a bug, still, over at
the wiki site
(http://dragonage.wik...'s_Roguish_Past). Can you
explain, and does anyone else have any input here?
The problem is that it's comparatively a low-severity bug--so I wouldn't expect a fix soon.
This fix was supposed to be included, but might not be retroactive (might need to re-import into Awakening to get the fix). I had hoped it would be retroactive, though...and it's definitely on the "included in the fix" list.PendragonV wrote...
Is power of blood included in the bug fix up? because mine says ( class not found ). Only blood magic working ok.

Guess I got lucky nothing went wrong my first 2 playthroughs then? It is kinda weird I had absolutely no issues prior to the patch.nikki191 wrote...

Played with 1.00 a long time, since I didn't have any problems. Though sometimes long loading times.
Human Noble female, Elven mage male. All completely fine.
Because I wanted to dry dwarven noble now and I heard about the DLC-glitch I decided to update.
Now I'm in Lothering and the game crashed twice completely randomly while I was just walking around...
thats something ive always experienced in lothering regardless of patches
Also, I knew about the Leliana in chantry thing. Thats not what happened here. It crashed when I started fighting the guys in the tavern.
Also @Ygolnac
I'm running max settings no lag as well withno problems prior to this patch. Like I said, the only thing that changed for me was this patch because I wanted to play dwarven noble. I never touch console commands.

well my pc is a amd phenom II x3 3.2ghz, 4g ram, ati 4890 1gb, i dont even play at max resolution just 1360 x768 and whit 2x anti, and i still getting crash, but i think have to do it whit mage and spell, since i have 3 mage party and everytime i wanna make some big combination plol ! crash, i beat the game before 1.03 whit a normal warrior no crash at all.
try running the game on full settings... as in to the max... for some reason my computer (and several games) runs smoother at max settings than at recommended or minimal settings..

Hey there Bruno; Based on the above, I was wondering if you had ever worked as part of a commercial organization creating a collaborative product, any part of which may affect the rest of the entire team's efforts, and all of which must be reviewed and approved by someone, (often several someones) before "going final"?BrunoB1971 wrote...
the funny thing with all of this is that i was looking in the install folder of the game and many of the newer stuff that appears to be installed date from june and very little from july...just makes you wonder....why it took so long....
A Community Modder can post his/her product to any one of the various sites willing to host it "...as soon as they want", regardless of quality or of the expected impact of its availability on that site. BioWare cannot.
That most of the files have date/time stamps in June says to me that BioWare released the patch relatively quickly, not slowly, after the code was locked down.
As just one example of the "external" coordination that must be completed before comitting to a specific "release date", look at all the folk who have said that their DLC wasn't immeditely "authorized". As many others responded, the auth servers were being overwhelmed and it just took some time (OK, for some, a looooog time). Imagine how bad it would have been had the Patch Team not brought the Network Intrastucture Team into the loop and given them some time to put together their own plan to support this roll-out.
I can picture that meeting: everyone looking at the calendar and the Head Webserver guy saying, "Ya know, between this-and-that, [US and Canadian holidays] half my team will be out over the first week-or-so of July. We could really make this smoother if we pushed it to the middle of the month. Would hate to have everything crash on Release Day!" Guess which Monday is the first Monday after the first full work-week after the holidays?
But what do I know? Maybe they tossed a coin!

Installed 1.04 and continued current saved-game at the point of entering Dust Town for the first time. Encountered not one, but two merchant-related glitches in the first 10 minutes of play, both in Alimar's Emporium.
The First was the "Remarkable Amethyst" which he has for sale. The purchase transaction completed successfully: the right amount of coin was lost and the item appeared in my inventory.
But as soon as I closed the "shopping window" -- NO GEM!?! It was just gone.
The Second happened when I tried to obtain information about the Carta. I suggest he might have more to say "...if there were coin involved." and he agrees for 30 silver. I tell him I'll pay, and he tells me what he knows.
When I end the conversation, I get the message: "Lost 5 copper"!?!
All-in-all, I'd have prefered to get over-charged for the gem but keep it, than under-charged for the info!
(Good thing Shale likes me anyway!)

Thanks. That's what I was kind of expecting.PsychoYoshi wrote...
With an old save, I still got a CTD, but it seems the frequency of crashes have diminished somewhat. It also seems to have fixed the DLC authorization bug. Based on my very limited playtime thus far, the patch doesn't seem to have introduced any new bugs of its own.Rhobert wrote...
Has anybody installed the patch and
noticed that it improved things? I'm not crashing that often, and I
didn't crash at all before 1.03, so I'm reluctant to install this just
yet.
At the very least, it's a better patch than 1.03 was. I'll have to try making a new character and seeing how CTDs are with a totally fresh run.
As I said, my game is playable as is with the 1.3 version, with occasional CTD, but I just am in the habit of hitting 'F5' fairly frequently. I would like to see the dex bug fixed, but I think I'll wait to patch up to 1.04 until after this play-through is finished, and I either start a new game, or install Awakenings.

I don't know if this will set your mind at ease but I don't think this has anything to do with the new patch. I haven't installed the patch and this has always happened to me in certain places in Orzammar. It also happens to me in the tavern when buying drinks from the waitress.

i totally understand that this patch must have been done in stages but it looks like most of the work was done in june according to the timestamps..no big deal though.
my biggest concern now is for Bioware to tidy up the game.
and since i work in IT it would be nice to know what they have changed to improve the problems of the game.
